From my experience men cheat because they WANT to. And that they can get away with it. Wives and partners tend to lay blame on "the other woman" for stealing him or luring him away but that's rarely true - ladies it's *your* husbands that 9 ½ times out of ten make the first moves.

I'm a Marriage Family Therapist and about 75% of the couples I see come in becaue there is some kind of infidelity or betrayal. I find most cheat when they aren't feeling appreciated and desired. That makes a person vulnerable to the attention of others. They also feel like they aren't able to make their partner happy. So instead of turning to their partner and telling them how they feel, they look outside the realtionship because they think it's easier. It's rarely about sex or that the other person is more attractive.

Biblically, women are to respect men, and men are to love women. And most have it backwards. Women think if they show a man love that he will love them. And men think if they show a woman respect that she will show him respect. They are not speaking each other's language. They're using the wrong key for the right lock. If a woman showed a man respect, appreciation, and gave him affirmation, she would have more love than she would know what to do with from him. If a woman believes in herself, has self-respect, has healthy boundaries, keeps her standards High, a man would respect her and therefore show her love. A woman is in charge of the relationship, how she's treated, and the direction of the relationship. If it goes awry and he doesn't show her respect, she's broken her own boundaries and he has no respect for her. Once a man loses respect for a woman few are strong enough to continue. Unless they are the type of man she shouldn't be with in the first place and they're abusive. Again that would mean she's broken her own boundaries before this point. I found that most women, even strong women, can find themselves in these situations because they have no clue what a boundary is or where to find them! One has to know themselves, and what they need to feel loved. If you don't know what you need to feel loved, you are clueless as to what you're looking for in a mate. Even those married and feeling neglected, don't know what it is they're missing in their relationship, because they don't know what they need to have a loving, nurturing relationship. This is when resentment sets in and no one wants to make the first move for healing. The women doesn't want to show respect, affirm, or any appreciation and the relationship will dry up and blow away. To Speak Life into a hurting, wounded relationship, takes a lot of maturity, and determination. To get what you need, you have to give what your mate needs first! If you're in this situation, I would start with the Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. Find out what you need, not what you want. ♡

I do see this, however I was the woman who appreciated my guy. I was nurturing and always told him thank you and how much I was attracted to him. He admitted that it was not enough. He wants to have fun, in the way he defines it. For example, we go skiing, but I am not an expert and he is. Now his new girl is too. This is what he values more than other attributes. I take responsibility for some anxiety I had, but he cheated out of pure selfishness and a mid life crisis.

My first wife was an utter immature narcissist. It is not only men who do this!!! WE ultimately divorced, but I did not cheat on her, but she lied and told everybody that I did. I am SICK AND TIRED of marital woes being laid almost universally at the feet of men! "Marital Fidelity" means a lot more than just not dropping your knickers for some other person! This was a terribly abusive, injuring "relationship" which I regret that I have not yet figured out how to heal from. Oh how I tried and tried with her! There's only one reason. Self. If he's living for himself, and is willing to sacrifice his marriage for a fling with another woman, it's all downhill. Only those men who truly know how to love-- to put another ahead of himself-- is able to be a good husband. Mothers know instinctively that for their newborn infant to survive, she must sacrifice herself for it. Husbands, for some reason, don't realize their marriages are the same way. The marriage will only be as good as BOTH partners in it, in their ability to sacrifice themselves for the other person. In practical terms, this means giving up personal time, for the sake of the family unit. It means seeing the light in her eyes meaning more to him than the fleeting taste of his personal lust.

There are men who mentally love one woman, commit to her, want children with her but physically ef around like it's no big deal. Putting another person ahead isn't the best option. I agree that love doesn't change one's nature (unlike we read in the novels or watch on romcom). Some men get bored after they 'conquer' something or someone. Just look at Elon Musk - he's wonderful at work but shitty as a partner.

I'm female and cannot understand male feelings that well but, at an intelligent guess I think men would cheat for the same reasons women do. The main one is not having your most important needs met by your current partner, hence need to look elsewhere to get these met. Or most are met, but you have what it takes to do better and get them all met eg by getting a bit on the side, nothing too serious that threatens your main relationship...Many do this, often through work.Some cheat because it is expedient eg sleep with the boss and get rapid career success. Others do it out of bitterness and revenge eg a partner who fails to appreciate them or continually puts them down, thwarts their dreams, abuses them etc. Many reasons, including plain old boredom and need for a bit of excitement. I know why many cheat but I can't imagine why they bother because cheating is high risk and hurtful and can ricochet back to harm the cheater, too. There are far better, safer ways to deal with whatever prompted you to cheat in first place. Simply end the unsatisfactory relationship as politely and painlessly as possible and move on to a hopefully better next one or stay single. Or discuss the problems with your partner and see if a negotiated change won't fix the ailing relationship. If it's boredom, then shake things up a bit. Rearrange the home, change your appearance, behave differently, change mind numbing routines etc. Do something new and exciting eg travel etc.Cheating driven by revenge is a tough one, though. The harmed partner needs to fight back and initiate the discussion re why the revengeful one did such a mean thing. This will prompt a confession that it was indeed mean, from the guilty cheater, followed by an attempt to justify it. At that point, you will be able to discover what you did/failed to do, that led them to cheat eg the partner who witholds sexual favours is asking the other to cheat on them, in revenge for being denied a basic marital right. The witholder may have valid reasons eg you are too damned fat, skinny, ugly, dirty, smelly, awful to be near etc. If I cheated, I'd tell my questioning partner the honest brutal truth and then quit. If I was the one cheated on, I would want to know the truth, even if it makes me feel awful. So I can start doing something about improving, so they are less likely to prefer others. Though sometimes there is little you can do. They prefer another and you have no hope, so best end it quickly and go find a partner who thinks you are the best. Someone is bound to be out there.

Also that would certainly be beneficial for people who are deaf or hearing impaired so they could READ it. Hi Jason! Thank you so much for your video it was extremely insightful. I'm going through a difficult time with my boyfriend at the moment. He recently told me outright that he doesn't feel that he can be faithful any longer. As far as he says he hasn't cheated on me but I've seen signs that say otherwise. When I was out of town for a weekend he picked up all his things from my house and brought all my things back. When I went to his place after this, all my pictures wm and any memories of us were gone. 1) we have been in a very stable relationship, I guess, wellat least from where I'm standing. But he said that we have become like an old married couple. We've lost the excitement. He has a really short temper too. 2) I've told him about what I want for the future - a monogamous relationship, settling down and having kids, but not all the time. He never says what he wants for the future. Every now and then he says that he can see me being a great mother to know kids. But everything he does is what he wants, when he wants. I was recently ill and asked him for the first time help help me with something, but because it was incobvenuencing him he made a huge deal our of it. When I called him out he said "Clearly you like me more than I like you". 3) I've tried to talk about his short temper but we never get anywhere so at some point I gave up standing up for myself and I started watching what I say and do so that he doesn't lose it. If I need anything, he would be the person I ask so that he doesn't get upset. Thinking of it I've given him more than 100% lowering my self-wortg making him value and respect me less. When I ask him why he doesn't feel that he can be faithful or why he says he's looking at other women, he says that I'm beautiful but I'm too "big" for him specifically that my hips are too big for his liking that he feels emasculated. Mind you we've been together for about one and a half years and I haven't added any weight. I'm just like me met me. I go to the gym and do yoga to feel more healthy. I asked him why he then got into a relationship with me in the first place as I looked more or less as I do now. He said he was at a point in his life where he needed companionship and I gave him that. NOw we are taking time a par(which he initially asked for, and which i now think i need to rediscover myself and my woryh)and after a day of break he called me and said how he missed me and how he doesn't understand why he feels the way he does. A guy at my office is always texting me but not in a creepy way. I liked him at first bc he seemed genuine until I found out that he's married after some hardcore online stalking. Yep, that's my ex. The drugs, the job moves, the "roller coaster" lifestyle. The thing was when we finally settled down with a child, that's when he decided to cheat on me. It was the happiest I had ever been in our relationship when we finally were living a more stable, more normal lifestyle. He couldn't stand the stability. He's a person who when you meet him, he has a very monotone voice and doesn't show much emotion. Not a real macho type, but watch out! He'll surprise you.

Many women when going through their "menopause" will not provide the between the sheets time that the man needs. Men are visual creatures so they want to see their woman looking decent, not all wrapped up like a nun...And they want to be taken care of at home. Otherwise they may very well wander off to someone else's arms. I unfortunately had that happen to me. We are married along time and get stuck into our routines, and sometimes we just start to neglect one another and the "fire" of the relationship just slowly burns out. I was married for almost 34 yrs. to my husband, but he wound up having 3 affairs when he went through his mid-life crisis. I have to accept some ownership in that. I realize that "some" NOT ALL of it was my own fault. I just wasn't in the mood for "sex" and he became repulsive wanting to climb on top of me when I didn't want him too and so on...Anyway he had 2 affairs and didn't marry either of them, then with the 3rd on he decided it was time to cut the strings on he and I. He wanted to move out, and he did. We got a divorce (after all those years) and off he went to marry the 3rd woman (on the re-bound I'm sure) and even the same year we divorced. We divorced in June and in October he married her. They were married for 9.5 yrs. but then he passed away, and that was in May of 2011. SO I have NOT remarried and have been "alone" for over 7 years after his death, and all total for 17 yrs. I have lived alone...Live and learn. NOW, I know what to do and not do and now that I am older I don't have to worry about any menopause getting in my way of satisfying my man and keeping him at home where he belongs (when I find that men that is haha)...I just have to be sure that he is DONE with his mid-life crisis or isn't married or into a relationship with another woman. Finding all this out isn't easy...BUT hopefully I'll be okay and find my end of life soulmate b4 life is over. I hope so. Good luck to everyone. p.s. Men and women have to realize if a spouse isn't happy or satisfied (at home) they will wander and they will leave. I know, been there, done that !!!
