In my opinion, it isn't about the heat, but about the cool down! If I use rollers, I let them cool completely before I take them out. If I use a wand or iron, once I remove it, I don't touch my hair until it has completely cooled off. Then I'll go in and brush, and style etc. This ensures I have curls all day.

Yes, cooling is very important :) and I did not talk about that in the video, and thanks for mentioning :) I might have to do a video on carious cooling methods. :)

Anna die Intelligente I coat mine with a medium hold hairspray, top and bottom of my hair, but I live in high humidity. I try to use something like Big & Sexy finishing spray so it isn’t super crunchy. I also run a comb through my hair before curling, so it’s straight and smooth, and use 340-350 degree on my fine hair for about 15-20 seconds. All of these are definitely factors! I wish she would have mentioned the lack of product. She did address it in a reply. But I would love to see hair with other of these variables!!! Like heat and product!

It has a lot to do on your hair type. I have very very thick heavy hair. I can curl my hair (with no product) and by the time I get to my top layer the bottom layers curl is gone. I literally have to put mousse in and hair spray Before curling and after, just to have the curl last all day. Actually the best curls I get is putting mousse in, doing Dutch braids, and let my hair dry over night....which I learned from you. So thanks for that haha

Yep! Me and my 2 good friends all have thick, straight hair. However, the individual stands of my hair are fine, and will hold a curl with no problem. @heartslove19425 жыл бұрын
Rikki Hamilton right!!! I use a styling texturizing cream my stylist suggested on my damp hair and a finishing spray after I’ve got the curl in. I kind of try to keep them pushed up. Some people even go so far as to pin each curl as they cool. But I push the curl up with my hand as it cools if it’s near my face. I try to kind of rest then on my shoulders as they cool, and spray them before they start to fall. That said, they are SLIGHTLY crunchy, and I don’t brush mine out usually. I try to do a light coat of spray and I can get an evening from them, wirh waves the next day. I can get the band names of the products, if you want. If u have super long hair, the weight will pull them down too. My sister has hair down to her butt and it is stick straight. NOONE has been able to get a curl to stay in her hair. It’s blonde and gorgeous, but she rocks naturally straight hair every day. As my hairstylist says, hair is just weird!
@goodvibes63825 жыл бұрын
I'll tell ya how to keep great curls in your hair. When u are using a curling iron, curl it all the way to your scalp, like u would if it were a roller. Don't worry about spiraling it, it will automatically spiral as the curl unfolds. Next, pull the curling iron out by holding the hair/curl in place and rapidly hitting the thumb piece as u pull the curling rod out from the hair. U may have to unroll one roll to loosen the curl slightly, depending on the length of ur hair. Basically, when u pull the rod out, u should still have a tightly rolled curl that u are holding to ur scalp. Then use a Bobby pin or metal roller clip to hold that curl in place. When u get done, ur head should look like it has rollers all over, just without the rollers. Allow the curls to COOL ALL THE WAY OFF! That is the key! I leave mine pinned up for about an hour. Or I do it at night and sleep with a silk scarf, then unroll in the morning. Use your favorite styling product while rolling each strand, based on the kind of curl u want. Curling creAm for soft curls, gel or spritz for stiff, defined curls, etc. I've been doing this for over 20 yrs. U can't go wrong this way. Good luck! Edit: I have very thick, long, straight hair. Its coarse so it tends to hold a curl better. However, my mother has silky bone straight hair to her waist. She won't even ATTEMPT to let anyone else curl her hair; she just calls me Lol
@heartslove19425 жыл бұрын
Good Vibes what kind of clips do you use? Bobby pins are tricky with me for one hand. I might give it a try. Do you use larger sections of hair than she did? Or is it about the same? How long do you let them cool? What kind of finishing spray do you use or do you spray at all? If so, when. Sorry, just curious!!!! Some times I want almost perfect hair, like the stylist does it. I’m close, but not 100%. Maybe 70% lol!
@goodvibes63825 жыл бұрын
@@heartslove1942 I can't remember the name of the clips, we always just called them roller clips lol Ill see if I can find a link that sells them. As for the sectioning, it just depends on how curly u want your hair to be. Large curls, larger sectioning, so on and so forth. U will have to experiment with it to see how big or small the curls come out with the curling iron size u use. I forgot to mention, leave the curling iron rolled tight until u feel the heat on the outside layer of hair, however long that takes. The longer your hair, the longer it takes. The whole curl should feel hot to touch I let them cool for about an hour. The finishing spray depends on the type of curls I want; if I used spritz for many defined stiff curls, I'll use spritz to finish. If I want softer, brushable curls, I'll use I flexible hold spray to finish Please keep in mind I'm talking about ACTUAL curls. In this video I see waves, NOT curls. Let me find that link for u 🤗

My hair isn’t damaged in terms that it looks damaged but when you color your hair it’s not virgin hair is what I’m trying to say. But no matter what I’ve tried my hair will not hold a curl. The Curleys usually almost gone by the time I walk out the door after getting ready. I don’t know that I’ve ever tried to hold it on the bell for 30 seconds. That is a really significant period of time. I’m going to try that tomorrow. Crossing my fingers!

Lisa Locke try this, and look up how to use clips to hold curls as they cool. It will take longer but I see stylists doing it and it’s been suggested in the comments. My hair does get crunchy curls kinda. I don’t brush them out, but they are pretty and hold all night. I have bleached highlights in my hair. I set my wand to 350 wirh fine thin hair and hold for 15-20 seconds usually... My wand is revlon. Idk if it’s still out but it’s digital & got it on sale at target for $25! Lower the heat. That will make a huge difference.

Make sure it has a digital heat reading. I have fine hair, and I use 20 seconds for 350 degrees. Ask your stylist if you want, but maybe do research, and test a small area in the back first!!!!

Your also using a large barrel. You would have better results with a 1 inch or smaller...

I always do the same curl type with my curling wand. I have a slim one with a clip. I had a similar from another brand before. But since I have the new one, my hair stinks while using it. And the smell stays in my hair up tp 4 washes. It does not stink burned. Even if I don't use product. One time I wiped the wand with alcohol before curling and the smell was less. Do any of you have experienced that?

I have naturally curly hair, but curling iron curls fall out within a few hours. I have fine textured hair, so maybe that's why? It's really annoying.

I go to a stylist too. But to keep it healthy, I use olaplex 3 and a a deep conitioner once a week. Along with sulfate free (0 everything) shampoo for color treated hair. Watch Brad mondo to hear his stance on home color.

This is not a true representation. I roll my hair on hot rollers and I still can't get a curl to hold. I gone with no products, products, timing, using my fingers to run through my hair and it just won't hold. Please help if you can.Thank you.

I've been a licensed cosmetologist for 10 + yrs. You should NEVER leave your hair on a hot tool for longer than 15/20 seconds. That's awful on your hair. Curling irons and wands get so hot and can melt off your hair. Remember that girl on Ellen that melted her hair off on a wand? She had her hair on there waaaaaay to long. Also, always use a heat protectant. They do protect your hair against heat up to a certain temperature. I don't care what brand you use and also, if you have chemically treated hair, you need to use it. Always make sure your hot tool isn't too hot also (if it has a temp dial/button) if it doesn't, do not hold it on there longer than 15/20 seconds per strand. The easiest thing to make your curls fall, is if you're curling on freshly washed hair. It's best to curl on 2nd or 3rd day dirty hair for the curls to last longer! Also, if you have fine or thin hair, use a heat protecting hair spray to help them last!

Thanks for taking your time to write your opinion, but I will stick with my point at this time (I have done plenty of experiments with heat tools and heat protectants, which I do not use any more on my hair). :)

that is me too. the only way I can do anything with my hair is to perm it. Not my hair is coloured and thin so I am afraid to perm it now.

Another Tip: alternate your curls by curling one, one way and then the next one the other way. That way your curls don’t conform together and make only big curl and fall together, so alternating them they are going against each other and essentially holding each other up.

if i left the heat on my hair for longer than 10 seconds it will burn right off, my curling wand has no temp setting - just hell-hot
@heartslove19425 жыл бұрын
Evangelia Kaev my curling wand is revlon & I paid about $25 on sale at target. It has heat adjustment, digital reading. And I think it’s the tourmaline or whatever the material is above ceramic. I LOVE it. I have fine/thin hair and my stylist said to keep it at 350 max. I curl for about 15 seconds normally, longer if I want a really tight curl. But definitely read reviews! This one was higher rated than some of the $200 Wands. That said, I want a thicker barrel like this, now that my hair is a bit longer. If anyone has suggestions...

@heartslove19425 жыл бұрын
Use a finishing spray! Big and sexy has a good one. And you can clip the curl up as it cools. Those are two tips. Styling products help a lot. She didn’t mention that....but that will give you a lot more hold. Mine is fine and straight and I HAVE to have product especially in humidity or it frizzes like crazy

my hair is medium in thickness (i’m asian so you can imagine the texture). my hair will not hold my curls UNLESS i use a really good hair spray. the only one that works for me is from the got2b (yellow can). my curls do not budge at all and lasts all day!
