I 1000% agree with everything you just said. If you can lie about a basic undebatable feature about yourself, you immediately lose credibility. It's like lying about your hair color or something. Despite age being a sensitive thing for some, it's definitely not a justification to lie about. These people need to work on how the view themselves and their self esteem. As a 22 year old, I can say I'm not afraid to age. I think there is beauty in physical aging that is accompanied with a lot if interesting stories & experiences. I personally like the look of older men-- I have been attracted to men up to 25-30 years older. However, I would likely date guys 15-20 years older because I would hate to fall in love, build a life together, and then (because if how much older they are) he dies way before I do. But if I did meet a man that's out of that age range but theres a string connection, I'm not closed off to it at all.
@KevenTalks2 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree that there's something really attractive about natural aging in men! I guess subconsciously it signifies maturity, life experience, and hopefully wisdom - lol. I guess it's a double standard - the same is not usually perceived for women. But I think generally people are still attracted to an attractive man once he ages.

I feel like people often lie about their age in order to get acces to an age group (almost always younger) that they prefer. I just think that's pathetic. Like there are young people who are into people that are a lot older, and that's fine. I myself would like my partner to be a bit older (i'm 24) but not old enough to look like my dad. I found it disturbing how may messages and taps i got (on Grindr) from men aged 50+ whilst i clearly stated that my age range is until 35. I'm just going to be very careful on dating apps because i do NOT want to be catfished (and putting up photo's from yourself from 5+ years ago is also catfishing!)
@KevenTalks2 жыл бұрын
I agree. I could totally date a 50 year old or even older honestly, but then I'd have to get something more out of the relationship than what I'd get out of someone my age or younger. Authenticity, emotional maturity, etc would be non-negotiable if I'm going to date someone old enough to be my father...

Some people aren't comfortable with it because when someone ask about their age its makes them feel old and doesn't fit in especially in the gay community. If you're old then its game over in most cases.

Anyone with eyes and sense can see I'm older than many. I don't feel the need to reveal my true age, or any age really. You can be old at my age, or youthful at my age, and the number alone doesn't reveal which. Like other aspects of my personality and background, half the fun is finding out.
@KevenTalks2 жыл бұрын
I get what you're saying but to me that's like guys who post headless pics only with the caption "message me for face pics" or guys who leave an initial because they don't want to share their first name publicly on an app. If I have to play the guessing game or ask too many questions, I personally lose interest. Dating apps are already isolating enough - I look for guys who want to break down walls, not build more of them :)

Several months back I remember a guy I matched with had his initials on Tinder (no name). One of the first things I asked him was his name, for the sake of getting a conversation going, and he replied that he would share eventually when he felt comfortable. I unmatched. LOL.

Keven, I think you may come from a healthier place than many/most. I'm OLD and people always have lied about their ages--particularly straight women and gay men. Ageism is unfortunate but pervasive in the American culture (and perhaps others--I'm not sure). Anyway, it is a shame that people so often lie about age, but I think there is a powerful reason for it. I'm not defending the practice--it's a slippery slope to other types of deception--but I do think there is a reason why it's done. BTW, what's with the long hair? Makes you look older! I've dealt with this a few times, though only with hookups. You might say "you're just hooking up, it doesn't matter." Oh but see it does. I don't want to sleep with a man who can be my father (who is 43, just turned today actually!) or my grandfather. To me that's creepy and it makes me uncomfortable. Lying about your age is an even bigger turnoff and a boner killer, and it frustrates me to no end that they think I'm that stupid. And I just love when I get the ones that say "one day you will be old too" when I say "no Thankyou sir, you're too old for me." Many older men do act desperate and i find it questionable that a bunch of them go after barely legal young men and lie or won't take no for an answer. I do feel bad them, however. Not being able to be content in your own mortal shell. This youth obsessed world in general has a backward attitude on aging (quite literally).
@KevenTalks2 жыл бұрын
So interesting because for me if it's a hook-up, I don't care at all if they lie about age - because it's purely a physical interaction - meaning I'm either attracted to them physically or I'm not. I still don't think it's the right thing to do to lie, but it doesn't bother me to my core like it does with dating, where there it feels manipulative and deceptive to me to the point where I couldn't keep getting to know them. For a one-time thing, I'm like, eh lol.
