I lived in Egypt for two and a half years. I've visited many pyramids there including the famous ones at Giza. They're all very impressive but if you go to different pyramid sites it's pretty obvious that the Egyptians spent a long time (as in generations) figuring out how to build a proper pyramid and get it right. There are many examples of 'failed' pyramids next to many of the successful pyramids where they didn't quite get certain measurements right. The bent pyramid at Dashur is a famous example of this as it bulged in the center because of improper measurements. The point is, the Egyptians spent centuries learning how to make pyramids through trial and error and innovation. None of that would have been necessary or would be evident today if aliens had just shown up and done it for them.

I'm a little late to the game but here's my two cents: in art history, there's a thing called "hierarchy of scale" which basically means that the bigger the person in the depiction, the more important they are. So the giant pharoahs aren't taller-than-humans aliens. It's the artist telling the viewer who is the most important person in the image. And this happens in almost every culture at almost every time, even within the past couple hundred years. Just look at renaissance images of Christ, he may not be noticably bigger but his head is often higher than others in the same image.

There are plenty of compositions where, even on the cross, Christ's head isn't higher (these are typically more recent than renaissance). And there are plenty of Madonna and Child paintings (baby Christ sitting on or being held by Mary, his mother) where they are higher up in the painting, indicating their significance.

also, the hill was reengineered cutting huge bedrock slabs and leveling the foundation, as well as physically interlocking those slabs into the bedrock and other slabs. also interlocking the pyramids into the bedrock. 1 of them literally has the first few steps that is just carved bedrock that locks into the structures. its 1 hell of an earthquake mitigation strategy. I don't subscribe to the ancient astronaut theory, but there is some sort of lost technologies. too much granite, too many practically identical pieces, statues, sphinxes, or like single piece columns weighing multiple tons and like 16 feet tall. you can not produce anything like that without the work piece being rotated on the same axis with as little runout as possible and sourcing the rock deep within an outcrop to get solid enough material to even carve. so maybe they deserve more credit, maybe they kept the secrets of iron production very well hidden. or machine tools made of stone and various alloys of bronze. maybe the tools for shaping are metals impregnated with abrasives minerals. just speculation as an apprentice machinist. uncharted x is a fun channel. don't agree with alot of it but it is much more coherent and logical and has good examples of objects requiring more technology that what is credited to the Egyptians

@@Skenderbeuismyhero if you have visited the great pyramid the sheer size is the thing that is staggering, also take for example facts like there are no mobile cranes in existance (crawler or conventional like the LTM 11200 9.1 that could place the top stones, or even come close becuase of the lift radius, this is what makes stacking those rocks so impressive... let alone moving some of the 50-80 ton slabs that make up the internal structures.. yes a lot of people and some intelligence can move large rocks in good numbers but constructing the pyramid even today with modern tools and equipment would be a substantial challenge

Kind of depends on how far you go with it. I'm very open to the ancient alien theory, but 90% of the stuff you see is bull. The core idea of Aliens visiting humans in the ancient past though, is not entirely baseless. The idea of Aliens "planting" us here and then helping in our advancement, is 99.9% improbable. But not entirely impossible. There are people on this earth that are working towards terraforming other planets for human use. There are many people out there that toss the idea around in their heads, that we'd be the ones to do the planting. If simple humans can come up with that concept, and *if* there are other beings advanced beyond our comprehension out there with the same idea, like I said. It's 99.9% improbable, but not impossible. Therefore, I don't subscribe to 90% of the ideas people have about ancient aliens. But I do find the core ideas interesting, and I won't be shutting that door on myself out of sheer disbelief in the unknown, but rather keep my mind open out of curiosity. The issue comes when people take everything they are told for face value, don't think critically about these ideas, and then spread it to their friends and family via media like the fucking History channel lol. That being said, no, I don't think aliens helped us build anything lol. If by some .000000001% chance we were "planted" here, I'm willing to bet they'd just watch and science it, not fuck with us.

While everything you mentioned makes sense it should also be noted that people today often find it hard to understand the MINDSET of ancient people. In ancient Egypt the people LITERALLY believed that the Pharaohs were descendants of their main god Ra. Thus, if the Pharaoh wanted something done IT GOT DONE! This mindset existed in many ancient cultures & so the ego projects of the rulers got done regardless of cost, time, &/or labor. Beyond all that you also have the fact that builders today have these little things called safety regulations. If you don't care about reasonable working hours, worker safety, labor unions, etc. you can get a lot more done faster. Not to mention that when "laying out" the lines for plans, with... say... cordage or strings, the longer the string used in a given direction the higher the precision of the lay-out is going to be... automatically. This is because it's EASIER to see the deviations when you're composing lines of hundreds of feet than it is to see those same deviations in lines composed at only a few feet... or a few inches. We like to think we have a good idea about how to do things, when the truth is often that we've just over-complicated the holy hell out of an otherwise relatively simple process... like "sighting in". A real testament to our precision as a progress of technology is the common iron gun-sight. This peculiarly simple looking and remarkably small device is capable of precisely predicting a projectile's path even hundreds or over a thousand meters downrange... AND it fits neatly atop a rifle barrel with only about 3 or 4 feet of span... Think about that... You draw a 3 or 4 foot line, "sighted in" by any means you like, to point to some distance object... AND then simply stand a post nearby, so a string from your post to the object can be tied taunt... Then compare the two. It won't take long for you to find the deviation in your 3 or 4 foot segment while the stringer from post to "target" object will be naturally "dead on balls" correct... simply by aligning the stringer with tension. You don't need rocket science to get precision when you can just walk the terrain and distance with a bit of string and a few stakes or posts. Don't "nuke" it. ;o)

Maybe 10,000 BCE was when humans in the area first decided to do something to mark the position of Orion, pile up a few stones, light a bonfire, build a sandcastle etc. And after that point some sort of tradition was maintained and over the next several 1000 years, that historical position was always observed, probably through the repetition of some sort of ritual, probably constructing stone towers and lighting a fire atop them so the flames could been seen for miles. I'm an amateur Egyptologist (I've only been reading books about ancient Egypt for the past 2 decades. I'm not a professional and don't have the proper education that goes with it.) One argument that a lot of people use is that they didn't have the wheel when they built the pyramids. It's true. They didn't have the wheel. But they had round logs on which they rolled the stones. One person in the back would pick a log up and run to the front of the stone and put it down in front of it. Etc. Even though they didn't have the wheel, they had a very similar system that did basically the same thing. It's also believed that no slaves helped build the pyramids. I read this a while ago and don't remember every detail, so I'm not entirely convinced by the authenticity of this claim. However, the explanation does make a lot of sense. Not only was there a relatively large worker's village (Deir-El Medina) near the pyramids, but those workers worked exclusively on building the pyramids. When people say that no one would do such a thing for free, I say that they didn't have money yet. They bartered. The workers would work in exchange for beer and bread. I have no doubt that it was back breaking work, but they were basically doing it for their god. The pharaoh was seen as a living god. A descendent of Ra himself. Imagine if Jesus came back to life. Anyone who believes in him would be willing to do anything for him. That's how it was for the ancient Egyptians. They were doing difficult work, but they were doing it for their god. They were doing it to eternalise him forever in the afterlife (considering that pyramids were tombs). I haven't heard of a single consipiracy theory that hasn't been debunked. However, the theories are really funny sometimes. *Edit* I forgot to add that they transported the stones on large ships from the quarry to the pyramids. At the time, the Nile was really close to the pyramids.

There is much lore in ancient cultures for rituals and ceremony and magic. So I think it would be more believable that they used magic to aid in the construction of these ancient buildings. At least, magic has better resonance than intergalactic stonemasons and bricklayers. Certainly Alien life may well exist elsewhere in the universe. I am hard pressed to think of a reason they would be attracted to Earth at a period of time when humans are sitting around in mud huts, let alone helping them stack stone. Then doing it again with another culture hundreds to thousands of years later and in a different way rather than being consistent. People will believe what they want to believe and no words will tend to change their minds. Me - I will go for people working hard and having to deal with and create new ways of working with what they have and teaching that to their apprentices. I'm a boomer and never bought into that crap. I have always had a penchant for history and archaeology and while I find alien theories entertaining, never believed them. It's not all boomers and old people, I've met plenty of millennials and others who don't understand how intelligent and skilled ancient people were.

Ever notice that the people who often have the biggest detrimental effect on the planet frequently have a "psychopath" haircut? Hitler, Various Kim Jongs and the Ancient Aliens guy, for example. It always triggers me when we (modern day humans) undermine the brilliance of our ancestors (ancient cultures) I feel like a lot of these Ancient Aliens examples are used to deny the brilliance of non-Europeans around the world. Mayans, Aztecs, Polynesians, North African and Arabic, although they have used Stonehenge as a European example.

Admittedly, the head shape evolution gave us is least likely to cause problems because evolution also arranged our brains in there in such a way that everything seems to work out most of the time. However, a lot of things in the human (and other species) body that aren't the best they could have been, which is, in fact, a big argument against intelligent design. For example: Was the achilles tendon really the best possible way to arrange walking? Also, look up the recurrent laryngeal nerve. This is a nerve that comes down from the brain, makes a u-turn around the aorta and then goes back up toward the larynx or voice box. In humans this isn't too much of a big deal, because the distance isn't too great, but giraffes have the same thing going on - it would be much neater and less of a waste of resources in the body if that nerve split off before the aorta so the whole system wouldn't have to leave the head.

I saw a documentary, probably a PBS show, where an academic and about a dozen grad students quarried, cut, and shipped scaled down stones in about a day. It seems that the stone cleaves easily at right angles and by using wooden rollers could be readily moved to the river. So a large group of workers could produce a huge amount of stones for their god king. Another segment the academic shows how you can build a wall with stones that have gaps between them that you can't fit a piece of paper between them by using local stones a copper wedge and another rock to use as a hammer. Showing that you could do it if you thought it through and had the motivation. Plus a giant pile of stuff is pretty easy to make but with a little bit of organization of that stuff, you have a pyramid!

We definitely could build an ancient Egyptian pyramid today, but the question is why though? What would be the point of spending so much time and money on a structure that can't be used for much? We don't have the religious justification that the ancient Egyptians had. If any type of ancient Egyptian monument is worth replicating, it is their temples, because at least the interiors could be used for multiple purposes.

Yes! Every time I hear stuff like this it really does just sound like "modern" people sitting on their high horse going "Hah, those people from the past couldn't have possibly done something that involved thought". Like, no, people of the past we're just as smart as people today, they just didn't have the centuries of previous research and studies that we do. But like, it was those ancient people who did those studies/thought of these things that started the basis for what we know today. If anything they we're smarter than us cause they had no previous knowledge to back up anything they we're doing, they we're just sitting there going "wait what if /this/ was a thing" out of the blue, instead of reading through other people's work and building off of it. (and there was no labour laws back then so there's even more of a reason for there to be no issues with how hard it would have been to build the pyramids, it's not like the pharaoh ordering them to be built had to do anything)

7:00 Stone is actually very hard to date. In most cases they can only really estimate the age, as in when it was formed~ not if/when it may have been shaped by human hands. Organics can be carbon-dated, not rock.
