Okay, mistakes can be made. I too, once dumped a load of gravel, not my first time spreading, but my first time by myself. Did not set the chains properly. A good operator, may not like it, but he can deal with it. I could not apologize enough. He said, " don't worry, that is why I'm here." Worked a year and a half, went full blown out over the road freight hauler, then flatbed, and thirty seven years later, I am sitting here, retired watching some great videos. Where was KZbin in the seventies? The best lesson ed learned, are from the mistakes we made. If you never made a mistake, you probably haven't done anything yet? Keep em' coming, love you guys.

Your thumb nail brought back memories working for a demo company. I was loading rubble with a 345 cat never failed trucks would pull up and always be to far over. after the firs round I came down from my perch and spread some rubble to narrow there pass. the loader operator came and started cleaning up. I got on the radio an told him to leave it he asked why I told him hey are like sheep you have to heard them. The radio busted with laughter. After that i was known as the sheep hearder lol

I love that you guys always make time for community projects or things that help the town. Have the owners of the camp ground, too, contact the closest Boy Scout office. Look into having them hold a camporee at the grounds. They usually pull in hundreds, most of which are youth and primitive camping. Have a great weekend, and take care from Fort Wayne, God Bless!

That grader attachment for your skid steer does a great job but I think a motor grader like the one that Chris has would be a great addition to your fleet. It would probably save you a lot of time also. Another job well done. I’m looking forward to watching the projects you have planned next. Thanks for bringing us along.

One time I knew I wasn’t going to be on site when a rock truck came so I marked a big X in orange paint (as well as a marked the perimeter) and placed a sign on a stake in the middle that said “dump rock right here” with an arrow down. Guess what? They dumped it next to the area which blocked up the work site. So I feel your pain brother

To answer the question in the title, probably the same reason most subcontractors have that effect on me. (Don't give a "we'll be there at 8:30 on Thursday" if you mean "we'll be there some WEEK between 1:00 pm on Monday and maybe around 11:30 on Thursday, or maybe the sixth Tuesday in the month!")

I always like how material spills out the sides and make a natural taper when dumped correctly. It would be nice if there was some way to make it wider. So I did some googling and saw a company that makes a wider spreader for up to 9' wide. It's an attachment that hangs off the back of the truck. A little more clunky, but it seems to work. Too bad a simpler thing could not be made. I was thinking wings that pop out of the tailgate. Some one could make a ton of money with this.

They can give you a bald patch at the start of the spread or a huge lump. Not as important when you don't have fabric down but makes a difference when you have fabric down. You guys fixed it up right, but that one load was bizarre. Maybe the owners nephew on his first day on the job. LOL

Mike, that is the first time I have ever seen a grader attachement for a skid steer. Awesome, and must say you did a great job with it, as did you with the dozer. and Aaron did a great job with the roller. What the hell was the rock driver thinking when they just dumped what looked like the FULL load of rock, Right on the drainage pipe?? Dang nabbit, extra work that neither of you needed to do..One day two, at least the rock trucks got it in the correct spot, even though you had to grade it all a bit. Aaron did a great job on the video ot that grader attachment, I enjoyed seeing it. I find your videos very relaxing, when taking a break from all my genealogy research, gives my mind a break and lets me think of other options when researching...thanks again MIke & Aaron..

The pressure is on for the drivers. Ready to spread and on camera. 🤣😂 Between the first 2 spreading in from the asphalt you can see a wider tailgate opening and faster speed on one and narrower opening with slower speed on the other but end results show that both work well. The dual and super single combo on the drive axles is something I’ve never seen before. 🤔
