You can also do that for the France achievement. And for that you only need to unpause for 1 day for game to register that you did it.

@@Quarbit What's even funnier is that is the reason you had that admiralty government type. Which turns you into 'Sea Prussians' by the flavor text, and yeah those bonuses are somewhat reversed the Prussian Monarchy, save for the monarch Mil bonus and war exhaustion.

What i wish they would do with eu5 is just.... give us like... 4 or 5 start dates, one per century or age, like. You got the base start date(cant remember it) 1444, then you got 1550, the peace of westphalia after that. Then you get the last start date that is right before the 7 years war

I actually love later start dates. I think that buildings dev and astronomical amounts of cannons are what kill the fun in the lategame which is why the best years in a campaign are almost always the starting 50 where none of that exists. I actually have modded my game to make buildings and dev really costly and i have produced amazing campaigns through that

I did a US run about a month ago. I started on the earliest bookmark the 13 Colonies are present in. Being able to conquer other colonies land without their overload defending them is broken. Starting around 1730 or so, I was able to conquer all of North America by 1821. I made a huge mistake once by taking an Admin tech right before getting something like 400% overextension, and I was over 200% overextension so long, spain was able to declare war on me and made it impossible for me to core provinces until the war was over.

@@Penguinthegoober the mechanic behind this exploit is that ashikaga starts with the shogunate lv1 government reform by tagging out to a point that ashikaga doesn't exists, let say any of the later bookmark and then goes back to 1444 the game "forgets" that ashikaga should be locked in the shogunate, which allows you to choose any of the generic monarchy government type. and the way sangoku jidai works in the game is by having the shogunate government type "allows subjects to fight each other" while as not being the shogunate banned all your subjects to go civil war and daimyo subjects count their liberty desire separately, and there you go.

So britain is protestant not only because the bookmarks weren't updated, but also because for some reason anglican is DLC locked (i have no idea why honestly. I'm not even sure if norse is). Hussite is definitely there because they didn't update the bookmarks though, they probably added a province and never touched the history file.

I'm pretty sure that you need the emperor dlc to have the mechanics of Husite if you decide to play with that religion

@@christianwhite8877 for mechanics: only catholic, orthodox, the muslim guys, sikh and technically tengri have mechanics (sometimes not all of them) in vanilla Eu4. But anglican just doesn't spawn without rule britannia.

@@sirflasm3456 catholic has most of them without any dlc (i don't recall all of them that have any, though golden century has a decent amount of them). orthodox has very few but with the third Rome dlc it is arguably the best. the Muslims do have most of there features in the base game but from what i remember you need a few dlc's to get all of there features. Sikh requires the Dharma dlc for it's features. and Tengri requires The Cossacks dlc for it's features, even reformed and protestant require a dlc for there features even if the religions exist within the game without the dlc

@@christianwhite8877 sikh does not require dharma for the gurus feature. The only thing dharma does for sikh is giving you a special government reform (source: i did a sirhind into punjab run without dharma). For tengri: changing/choosing a syncretic faith does require the cossacks, but the ones that have already one at the start (jianzhou has confucian, and some guys have vajrayana) do work properly (you still can't change it though). I don't know what golden century gives to catholic (maybe the treaty of tordesillas?) but i'm sure that the curia money and golden bulls are behind emperor (and i think the council of trent too), while the league war (if you count it as a mechanic) is behind art of war. Orthodox only has the patriarch authority scale, while icons (idk the dlc) and metropolitans (third rome) are behind dlcs. Muslims have the piety scale, but the piety buttons are behind cradle of civilization, and the dhimmi (i count them as a mechanic) are behind the cossacks dlc. All of the other religions are in the game but only have their base modifiers plus events, decisions, reforms etc. except for anglican, whic doesn't spawn, and i'm not sure about norse (i have to check if the events that spawn it need lions of the North or not, but the mechanics are behind the dlc for sure)

I didn't know that about Sikh. I didn't know that about tengri. Unless I'm remembering incorrectly your correct about golden century. I count the league war as more so a consequence of the reformation than a feature of any religion (either way you shouldn't need a dlc for it). For orthodox the icons I believe were from either the Cossacks or third rome (probably third rome if I had to guess). Your correct about Muslims. However Hindu (unless I'm mistaken) require a dlc to have there features. And common sense gives all branches of Buddhism karma (in addition to giving protestant it's features). Wealth of nations I believe was the one for reformed. I know that without mandate of heaven you don't get harmonization from Confucian and Shinto is a lot weaker. I believe the religions in the Americas require one of the colonial dlc's. I don't know however if the religion in Australia requires a dlc or not, though I'm pretty sure Norse requires lions of the North (the dlc that makes the Baltic crusader achievement actually doable)

The Bookmarks and stuff made more sense in CK2 and EU3. I used to use them just to play certain scenarios. But these days the mechanics are so different, etc. Edit: I mean in EU4, the mechanics are super different from even when EU4 launched, not just different from EU3.

Timestamps like these shows how silly colonial powers like Spain are. The reason they have that much forcelimit is because of their colonies. Even if you completely ate mainland Spain, they would still have 100+ forcelimit (and thus loyal colonies) which is simply stupid. Colonies are waaaay too loyal.

I agree. They used to break free, but I think the issue now is that all the major colonial powers have so many modifiers that reduce liberty desire that it completely crushes any chances of their subjects wanting out, no matter how powerful they are.

@@hirocheeto7795 Plus I noticed if the AI has a lot of subjects, they tend to go influence ideas which reduces it even more. Did a Germany game the other day and when I got around to kicking Spain out of Europe, they still had 147 force limit and 5 loyal colonies. Super goofy imo.

Random New World can definitely be cool, but! I recommend turning off terra incognita in the nation selection and keep re-rolling until the new world is interesting or big enough. I played with RNW a lot about 9 months back and like 1/2 - 2/3rds are really bad. Either tiny, no cool stuff, or the dumb line continent. After a good one generates you can turn terra incognita back on. I mean, obviously getting amazing streamer luck! Edit: So I went in and checked it to be sure. I rerolled 10 times and 4 were bad, one line continent was very good and one other was really bad. Fantasy nations showed up in 2 of the rerolls. I stick by what I said, but RNW is better than it was before.

I actually had the slight hope that Eu5 would expand more on the later start date. That you could actually play more in the 1700s and it would actually be fun to do so, considering the early modern period and colonization is what the game is about, but nah we're going back into 1337 because Paradox has a medieval fetish I guess. I'm still far more interested in the French and American revolutions than the Black Death, but maybe I'm a weirdo. They also completely skip over the Latin American wars of independence in pretty much every title they make, for some inexplicable reason.

15 years playing europa universalis (eu3&eu4) and I've never played usa. There are so many fun nations to play, even over and over again with different paths and outcomes, who in the world would play with usa? Just americans. Ive played with Iroquois, Shawnee, Cherokee and few other Native American tribes trying to discover a way to form usa tho

If you ever decide to check out random new world. I recommend findings some mods to improve it. Currently and expectingly the generation can be awkward and sometimes just awful. It can also be derpy and make new world regions shapes make 0 sense. But if you have new world fantasy nations on it can be funny (the a.i doesmt do much with them tho. I.e dont grab ideas to colonize and ecpand)
