My assumption is that the WGC-sponsored GLD prospectus says something to the effect that "we reserve the right to do whatever we damn well please with the money you send to us, and if anything goes wrong it's your own fault for not having read the prospectus which clearly states that if the SHTF we're not responsible."

Very true, hence the expression, If you can't hold it, you don't own it. Even worse, custodian ,( Jeff Curie) of the biggest silver ETF, SLV , is on record saying ," the ETF are the shorts". Central to the PMs price repression/ suppression schemes is the funds provided by the retail customer investors. The crooked banker/ brokers , absolutely trade against their own customers best , (profit seeking) interests. ( The exception being, Eric Sprouts, ETFs, )PSLV for instance , instead of Black Rocks/ J P Morgans, SLV.

Buying gold around the peak of key interest rate hikes is peak smoothbrain. Look up what happened to gold's price during the early 80ties. Smart money pulled out and invested into bonds, getting 5% real yield for the next decade while retail gold investors were left holding the bag in an asset that lost 70% of it's value in a few years and another 10% over the next generation.

GLD can be shorted and it is. Buried in their prospectus somewhere is a statement that some of the gold may be loaned out. He is not telling the whole truth. PHYS on the other hand CANNOT be loaned out.

So is it fair to say that perhaps the main factor in gold's swoon in September/October 2022 was the rise in interest rates, and the associated opportunity costs? As Joe points out, its price will remain volatile in the months ahead, but I'm hoping to maintain a sense of when portfolio allocation adjustments are worth considering.

Everyone is always late to the party. You should have been investing in precious metals/natural resources all along, about 5 to 10% of your total portfolio(s) value(s). Invested in ETFs, such as BAR, SIVR, GLTR and/or GUNR.

Since gold has become a tier one asset, banks are purchasing to offset losses. Jewelry and technology are other big gold purchasers. Since BRICS, other countries are purchasing. Can you give more info about technology? Specifically, how is gold used in technology?

Adam, big fan of the show, but I think this interview falls a bit flat. You do such a great job of bringing on objective, data driven guests. This gentleman, while knowledgeable, is essentially a spokesperson for the gold miners lobby. I would not consider him an objective, data driven analyst.

Is the "Gold" argument just going to be just as good (if not much better) to speculate into Bitcoin if you're going for those sort of earnings? US confiscated gold before... Versus staying in Money Markets (largely backed by T-Bills)... Gold on Paper doesn't seem like you get any advantages of the "gold arguments"... and yet, now having to custody it (safe, in home, etc) is an added cost too. Gold is not transactable at all -- like, just not happening especially for anything local for those of us in cities should there be the "gloomy scenarios" -- note, I grew up on a farm, so I'm WELL AWARE of bartering to avoid Uncle Sam's greed (taxes) -- so we'd exchange services, livestock, etc in a "money less" transaction world. But harder for city folk who have none of those services, we largely just serve corporations.

Gold has a 5000 year history to support its position as a store of value. On the contrary Bitcoin has a history of 15 years, which makes it less attractive IMO. Gold is created by extracting it from the earth which is challenging, Bitcoin was created by some Japanese guy that nobody has ever met.

Technically from government accounting terminology, Social Security and Medicare are entitlements. Medicare is not an annuity. It is a medical expense reimbursement program. The Social Security benefit is paid in the form of an annuity.

I think gold is going to work it's way back down to 1600. This would be good long term. I feel it will hit 3000 or higher after that. I am talking a few years of a cycle. I think the current climate is not what will ultimately propel gold. I think it will be a natural progression of gold being gold after all the dust settles. . Can't ignore the triple top, as much as we are being fomo'd in.

If it can not overcome the tripple top it might pull back .... to 1800 or 1600 (in case of a hard landing and margin calls) ... but 1000 is very unlikely since most miners need Gold to be at 1500 (or higher) to make a profit.

$1000 gold only happens if we see a huge deflationary event and massive recession. If it gets that low it will not stay there that long (and will be impossible to actually source retail physical anywhere close to that price I expect premiums to rise massively) and will be like springboard skying high once global central banks print to oblivion.

Watch this magnificent investment vehicle and come to the conclusion everyone and everything is bearish that’s not what Adam and the majority of his guests are about. What I get out of the majority of guests is an understanding of timing, risk management,reality in a macro printing paradigm and an understanding of worldwide manipulation of information. So you can assess the range of likely outcomes from that from the range of inputs from the statistics and economic conditions that apply. Gold is increasingly coming into favour because it holds value and the USD is no longer guaranteed of doing that. Banks are no longer guaranteed of returning your capital, they may in fact decide to issue you with bank shares in lieu of your cash deposits. There is precedent for this in what happened in Crete and Greece. Therefore gold in one form or another (ETFs, gold miners, gold exploration stocks or physical gold) arguably should be part of anyone's portfolio. That is anyone remotely cognisant of the risks that are continuing to accumulate and compound.
