I have been a All Blacks fan since I can remember. Jonah Lomu sparked my interest in Rugby and the All Blacks team of the early 90's ignited my passion to follow this sport. I am a South African , I support the bokke vs any other team except the All Blacks. People need to realise that we dont choose who we support.....but its the team who interest us that we end up supporting. I could never force myself to support the bokke over ABs. Bokke = Physicality All Blacks = Skill & Speed

I think another reason we get support from Black South African fans is because New Zealanders protested and rioted for their civil rights during those difficult times. Most notably during All Blacks game when protesters stormed the field.

I have the world's respect for black South Africans supporting the Boks. They could so easily have supported the All Blacks because of the past but decided to put it behind them and still support the so called 'white' Boks. Even the Boks coach is a non-white South African who's dream and passion is to coach the so called 'white' Boks. Guys like Dillyn Leyds, Beast Mtawarira, Elton Jantjies, Courtnall Skosan, Siya Klolisi, Raymond Rhule, Trevor Nyakane, Chiliboy Rallepelle are extremely proud to play for the so called 'white' Boks. The All Blacks are a great side and the team to beat in world rugby. They are very humble and not arrogant at all, but I will never support them because I'm not a New Zealander, just my opinion.

You get 3 types of All Blacks supporters 1 - These supporters want to support the team that will most likely win most of the time. If Georgia were the best team in the world, then they would be supporting Georgia and not NZ. They just want to be in the winners seat every weekend. These are supporters with no back bone. They generally know nothing of the game 2 - These supporters will support any team that is not SA. They have some form of dissonance with anything South African, based on a certain political view point. Also the word ''All Blacks'' has a nice ring to it for these supporters. They seem to hate anything remotely resembling SA and anything to do with it in it's formative years. These supporters also have very weak back bones. They are also responsible for the ''No Alcohol ' policy being formed at Newlands as they generally cannot handle liquor. 3 - These supporters are AB supporters because they were borne in NZ. These are the only true NZ supporters. They have strong back bones. The others are just happy to jump on the band-wagon.

Let me expand: in South Africa currently some of our best players are being passed over because the government eant to have what they call 'representation'. If there are not the amount of black talent out there it is a reason to develop it, definitely, but not a reason to loose a better player in favour of a coloured player. This is not being unbiast but infact being racist by makinf a decision base on race. Let them develop at their pace and soon enough there will probably be much more black talent than white in SAfrica, but currently we are favouring black player not whites so that was just a bogus argument as to why a South African would support the All Black team. It is such a phenomenon that it should be noted. The reason is hatred against whites. I agree as a white guy that had I been black I might also have struggled with forgiveness for the past. So plile on the hate and enjoy it when the Bok team loose. But bear in mind, this is your team now. We have a black captain. Racism is a sluppery slope and not only whites can be racist. On a related point... People who go and live in the Western Cape and after years still support the Blue Bulls have a similar fault. You cannot morally justify supporting the team of another area who apposes the team who support the area that sustains you. It is like picking another mans family and standing against your own family with them. It is cowardice, selfish and opportunist. i did support AB in apartheid but when Siya became captain i suported the springboks. it took SA 8 rwc;s and win 4 it took SA 12 years to win there second rwc it took the AB 34 years to win there second Rwc. we have at present to much youngsters coming up. and does not who win i love them both.

I grew up (in NZ) listening to the so-called comedy song _"Never met a nice South African."_ Personal experience working with dozens of South Africans in NZ over two decades (in IT) is *_the exact opposite;_* some of the lovliest people I've ever met have been yarpies (a South African boss once told me that yarpie isn't a pejorative; hopefully he was right; if not, my apologies). Chatting to a South African colleague (ex police officer in SA) at a work social function once was an eye opener; he told me he quit the police and moved to NZ because he was sick of shooting people. Put my problems in perspective... Very sad to hear about the current state of South Africa, from people who go there regularly, and what I've read / watched online. From an entertainment point of view it won't help grow the game if everyone played that way. I luv the Boks style and how they match up against the different style of the All Blacks which is why test matches between these power houses is the greatest spectacle to watch. Also I think our All Blacks are a bit dodgy at times as are the Boks unlike the Irish, Scots, Welsh and Wallabies who are so honest and true - I have so much respect for these teams.

I support the All Blacks, because they make rugby "Real hard rugby". I am an South African, but i have always loved New Zealand and New Zealand sports, because they can stand together and work together, just like most people "All Blacks (New Zealand) fans in South Africa" do. For me sometimes South African fans just take things too far and can`t accept a loss and these days always blame the ref when they lose and that`s not right. NZ has always respected South Africa, and still do but South Africans don`t see it, because they just want to win & not lose. Respect comes from both sides not just 1 side. You can`t always win, but you can always be positive and congratulate the better team. I think with the URC move South Africa will surely miss super rugby in the future and to think they think NZ are arrogant but actually NZ are the most humble team on this planet.

The Cape coloureds simply choose the best team, and support that team. Whether its the All Blacks in Rugby; Real Madrid in football; Australia in cricket etc etc. And they'll quickly jump ship, if 'their team' is no longer the best in the world. The funny thing is that coloureds generally don't support local coloured sportsmen....probably because there are so few who are world class (with the recent exception of Wayne Van Niekerk). But they also maintain that their support for NZ is also a form of protest, against the lack of coloureds in the Bok team. But at the same time, they simply ignore how often minnows such as Jantjies; Lleyds; Kolbe; Aplon; De Jongh; Paulse; Kirchner (etc) have missed tackles, and simply been run over or smashed, when playing for the Boks. I wish there were more decent coloured players in SA, who are not lightweights who can't tackle. Because lets face it, there have to be a certain amount of 'players of colour' in the Bok team...as demanded by the ANC. So, of course a Bok supporter would want coloured & black players, who are good. But in my opinion, the only really good coloured Springbok players were Habana; Deon Kayser; Errol Tobais (probably); JP Pieterson; and Gurthro Steenkamp.

I agree fully with you on the Cape coloureds jumping ship when the best team in any sporting code is not the the best anymore. A lot of them will abandon New Zealand rugby if they start playing badly. Another reason why coloureds support New Zealand rugby besides politics is that they think that Maoris are the same as them just because they also have brown skin. It just shows me how racist non whites can actually be and get away with it. The irony is that white people in South Africa are constantly told to stop living in the past. This makes me hate the supporters more than the team they support.

Yes, the coloureds do generally believe that they are the same as the Maoris. I've so often heard them use the argument, that the Boks "should put more players of colour into the national team, because NZ did exactly that.....and they are the best in the world as a result of doing so". That argument proves that the coloureds believe that they are South Africa's version of the Maoris. But the maoris are genetically built for Rugby (ie: powerful, huge and quick), whereas the coloureds are usually tiny hand-bag snatchers (example: Aplon, Kolbe, Kirchner, Basson etc) who are weak and can't tackle. Maoris also have war-like characteristics and customs (evident in their war dances). They have a completely different culture and genetic make-up to Cape Coloureds. If the Cloureds truly believe that they could be anywhere near as good as NZ Maoris, then they should point out 1 or 2 players that they have produced, who are as big, as strong, and as good as Ma'a Nonu, Julian Savea, Rieko Ioane, or Nehe Milner-Skudder etc etc. Fact is, the coloureds haven't produced any player who is in the same class as those mentioned players.
