Love the shout out to BEK wheels! Based in Utah now and the owners of that company are really dope people. Come hang next time you’re in the US!! We will put you up in one of our houses for sure. Solid scene here with over 30 skateparks within 2 hours drive

I think the square profile works better for frames with thicker frame walls but also tight h-block grooves like the Kizer Fluid 5s. I think it's so there is some urethane that can still make contact with the ground before the frame touches and possibly slips out.
@BrandonDrummond
@BrandonDrummond 13 күн бұрын
Honestly slipping out from the frame wall touching is way worse then getting wheel bite 😆

I prefer square profile on anti and I dont get any train track feeling unless i choose it by having the weight centered between the wheels. Anti requires a different technique than flat. The traintrack reference always come from people who goes directly from flat to anti without changing their technique.
@wingdingdmetrius8025
@wingdingdmetrius8025 14 күн бұрын
I pretty much only skate anti. I never considered the train track feeling a dig, it's just a fact. If you skate flat bullets the maneuverability does indeed make anti feel like train tracks, but that's generally a good thing for grinds and clean looking lines.

Have you actually tried bullet or face profile on anti? It was a significant difference for me.
@tobias88ish
@tobias88ish 14 күн бұрын
@@JustAnotherBlader yeah ive tried tons of wheels. But as i said i dont have any problems with square profile, its all about where you place the weight on the wheels. For flat i would go for bullet though:)
@AWS-Blading
@AWS-Blading 13 күн бұрын
When you turn on anti do you do foot over foot or do you actually try and carve by slightly lifting the front wheel and keep pressure on the back wheel as you turn? I tried anti but I found I would slip and slide out on that back wheel when trying to turn.
@tobias88ish
@tobias88ish 13 күн бұрын
@@AWS-Blading yeah. I rarely have weight on all wheels at the same time. It depends on type of carve, can be front wheel on one and back wheel on the other as well. But mostly loaded on the front wheels.

Flat profiles are better for rough terrain and overall stability. Yes bullet profiles are more forgiving for wheel bite but not as stable and in the streets they are horrible

Square profile wheels don't suck they are meant for anti-rocker setups, and that's the way I roll.

That is a huge difference I noticed switching to flat, landing drops is WAY more dificult 😆 Also hill bombs are much more scary.

I was skating aeons with square outside wheels and bullet inside. It was a really good setup because it stopped me pronating and was more solid and stable and without the wheelbite. I went back to all bullets because of how fast the squares were wearing down and because having the different profiles kind of felt like anti when turning

Stoked to see the wheels working for you! I've been frustrated so many times about aeon releases with square profile wheels. It makes no sense to release a skate built for riding flat with a square profile wheel!

I'm with you, I hate square profile wheels. My first time skating them was with Aeons and it immediately felt so odd to me. But, as others have pointed out, they are definitely more stable so I get it.

For the wheels I use ( 80mm to 110mm) as a mostly urban and fitness skater I think the original profile lasts so short (like 2 weeks of 3 or more skating sessions) that it doesn't really matter however I do prefer the wheel to have the most flat profile if possible as that means there is a little more wheel to wear.

square profiles are good for anti-rocker skaters, they want to skate straight to the obstacle they don't want to wiggle. they don't need to swivel they just need to get to the spot grind and skate away... so for flat skaters that want that anti-rocker trackie feel just roll flat and all square and when you go straight you will go perfectly straight 🤣

Knees unfortunately often take several “rebuilds” to get just right, tis a real pain in the ass… 🤷‍♀️ or rather knee lol! I’ve torn my meniscus in both knees pretty much beyond repair, my right doesn’t cause too many problems, too often but my left is a freaking mess. If I’ve been skating a bunch for a few months in a row it gets to a point where the only thing that gets it better is long periods of rest. Here’s to my third rebuild on it, hope it finally heals!

I actually love Square profile wheels, however they are not good in bigger sizes unless you skate anti-rocker. I buy square profile in 54-56 millimeter with a big grooved frame. The Them frame or 50/50 prime frames are my go to for those kinds of wheels. Keep these videos coming, Brandon.

It’s why I can’t get on the Dead train. They have no taper on the sides, it’s like someone just chopped them like cucumbers haha. I like the 58mm face profile wheels by Balance Distribution. Also Redeye Witzemann 55mm wheels are flat profile but still have a curved/tapered side so it’s still is forgiving on grinds.

@ronny12301 can't really speak to big gaps on them... but for power transfer and park skating they are a game changer.. they make a normal wheel feel like skating in mud... so much faster and more control. Just be sure to get them with bearings installed... save yourself the headaches..

I hate the fact there's barely any good square wheels on the market... I roll freestyle on Trigger frames. I dislike rounded and bullet as I mostly grind and do gaps. My go to wheels are the Zack Savage 58mm of Gawds right now. But I would like to see a 60mm square profile wheel as I like the Martina wheels but they are a bit rounded... I would start doing squats/yoga as you are still a pretty high up in your grinds. Getting lower will help. Check out the skater Stephane Mosselmans for inspiration: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJ-apJ-AaqaHo5o

Square wheels are good for learning on. Wider face, higher stability. But once you get balance. turning, and stopping down... toss those wheels and never get squares again, honestly.

Or just skate anti-rocker, because that's why anti-rocker setups exist. You're getting wheel bite, because you're on a ledge, this is a physics thing, not a "wheel" shape thing man... Skate GCFLT3's -- 4's are for parks and coping, but not square weird ledges.
