Such a fantastic show. "No one has any enemies." Words that change lives. Unfortunately Thors lives in a time where a Viking's only worth and their ticket to heaven comes from their killing ability, so no one is really sharing his values with a straight face. Also, this show actually follows real (if broad) historical events, i.e. the impending war between the English and the Danes. The characters themselves are named after figures from Viking legends, anime-fied of course. Still, I'd say not to google their irl counterparts just to be safe!

Nah, the euphoria that comes with shrooms would balance it out. Now doing it while on acid would be TERRIFYING.

Sir I like your Purple Rain swag. And now you say that, yeah, it's western and Thor is totally Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven. I don't know how far along the story in your Patreon channel but the last episode of S1 is called 'end of the prologue' and the real meal starts with S2. I really really enjoy your reaction and hope you guys will do S2 too.

Yeah we Christians can be abit much sometimes 😅 with our enthusiasm when sharing the good news. But think of it this way. Imagine you've found the greatest treasure this world has to offer, and this treasure is so abundant that there is enough for everyone to have it. Wouldn't you want to just go out and scream from roof tops, hey everyone look! there is this amazing treasure, rich in abundance, and there is enough for us all, please come share this with us so we can all throw the dopest feast and party this world has ever seen. This feast will be legendary and will be talked about and remembered for ages to come. The more the merrier! That's how we feel in a nutshell.

I suppose it's a compliment to the show that its reach is wide enough that it got to an American evangelist. Much like David Bowie got to Ricky Gervais. I'm mildly curious to know what messages you are extracting from the story.

A bit? You Christians have held power over people since the founding of the church. But sure, make it seem like you’re just trying to spread the good word after your ilk has invaded country after country and killed those who don’t believe.

@@El-Kuño To be fair, speaking as someone who USED to be an evangelical (And has come round to the idea that religion has been a net negative for humanity), I feel like Vinland Saga DOES have some pretty pronounced Christian themes. I don't know about the author's personal beliefs, and its not overtly preachy, but I could definitely see how one could find a Christian-adjacent message here. Themes of mercy, forgiveness and redemption are integral to the story, and while those are THEORETICALLY core Christian ideas, they're not terribly representative of the real-world historical institution, nor are they particularly well represented amongst modern-day Christians. In other words, if Vinland Saga is "Christian" (And that's highly debatable), I'd wish it's version of Christianity was real.
@El-Kuño2 ай бұрын
@@MadMadNomad Yeah, I agree with you on that point. It's got Christian themes and discussions (especially with Canute) going on very overtly and sometimes animators make it in-yer-face so that we understand that, but it also has many moments that transcends a framework provided by one religion. My comment might have been a bit harsh because it's not just any Christianity but it's American Christianity that is a multi-billion industry and a political machine that exploits people who are born to regions with that culture and most dispisingly, vulnerable people. Also Christians like to claim patent on concepts like mercy, forgiveness and redemption but other religions have similar concepts (I'm from buddhist/shintoist culture and at the core they are very similar. It's just that Christianity has it all in one place in a very alluring story at that, in your scripture). I sweat as I watch minute-by-minute covers on newspapers as a non-American citizen and wonder how the world has come to this. I blame a very narrow-minded brand of Christianity as an institution for that (redemption for me, mud-sling for thee).
