my bad habit was procrastinating and I always watched these turkish series on youtube. Now I only watch them whenever I am running on the mill, it helped me connect smth i rather not like with something i like and it motivated me. Also it helped keeping track on my daily progress when it came to studying. What did I do today? Sometimes even tho i study the whole day it isn't satisfying, bc it feels like i didn't really reach the goal of all the things i wanted to do, but when i write it down, i see how much I accomplished, that's the moment when i truly feel satisfied and it makes me keep going. I really recommend everyone to try different things, i never really thought i could be one of those who can manage their time and be hard working every day. I only watch your videos when I eat or are on the toilet, that's my new rule when it comes to youtube. I kept it for a week now, and I enjoy your videos every day :) Thank you

See my problem is I don't want to spend the rest of my life fighting with habits I ingrained into my psyche as a kid. I always go back to them. And if I can't achieve permanent and eventually effortless change I don't want to keep trying. It's pointless and demotivating, exhausting, and makes me constantly feel badly about myself. I'm actually getting sick of the self improvement hamster wheel. I just want to live. I just want to be myself. I'm so tired. But when I stop trying my life falls into utter chaos. Is this what I have to live with the rest of my life?

The definition of a habit, H, is a thing you do automatically without thought Nothing is completely a habit (I can smoke a cigarette w/out realizing but I consously found the pack, so everything is relative) It us also useful to define an anti-habbit, A, as a process you think about constantly and are totally aware of every step (exercise for some approaches A, one can dread it all day; seemingly count every breath and second until its over, then feel guilt of not doing more overlapping dread of the next one) It sounds like you would like to reduce the "H character" of some things. Statistically this is best done by changing the environment. It may never go away completely, but slowly you'll spend more time not thinking about it or doing it. As the video above mentioned, finding some "Aish" activity that can somewhat replace the "habbit" helps alot. (This is done by doing the positive thing more often and consistently) it's easier said than done, watch his videos on "elastic goals" for help adding H character while reducing A character (of a goal). Also his goals vs systems video can help. *TL,DR no, your not doomed forever, it will get better. But its not easy and consistency is key*
@elainelorimer8182 жыл бұрын
Also, everyone gets sick of the hamster wheel, but with even the most elastic goals everyone fails now and then

@@elainelorimer818 have you been able to do it? My problem is that I can't replace my bad habits with good ones. I always just go back to the original habit.
@ironheadrondo55962 жыл бұрын
TL TLDR DR That ended up long, basically small steps and setting your self up for success are what matters. You'll never "replace" your habit, but you'll have more good days than bad days eventually as time rolls on. Don't discount any step (no matter how small, forward is forward; back is back)

Very intersting, the problem is, when your bad habits is being a sucker for informations, on internet or books (internet is more immediate), for good relations ( even too many) and you work as a photographer ( you cannot uninstall instagram) the things start to get very difficult so work. The problem is that even what a good habit can become a bad habit if you don't have self control and you search for dopamine, look at some people in the gyms...it's the trickyiest stuff to get around.

Recently, I semi-quit a pornography addiction, it was something I fought for two yrs, and it was no joke. For a while, I was too afraid of admitting that I was addicted watching pornography, it ranged from watching it once a week to everyday, it wasted my time, made me feel miserable and made me see things I wish I didn’t see. Eventually I built up the courage to admit this problem, first with my cousin, then my parents after we had an argument about health issues. In December 2021, I told them and apologized for my actions, they forgive me and handled them the android phone where I was watching pornography, thus slowing down my addiction. Despite some relapses, I haven’t watched pornography in a week, I’m now 21 and I’m about to start college soon, though tbh I wish I started it 2 yrs earlier if I didn’t became addicted to watching pornography, but what’s important is that I haven’t watched it in a week and college is right around the corner, hoping to get a career in the film industry as a filmmaker, so at the very least, my life is headed in a direction that is fit, but still need to correct my mistakes and not relapse or give in since it does take time to recover. This was my story about how I’m slowly overcoming my pornography addiction and finding something to do with life now that I’m an adult.

@BetterThanYesterday5 жыл бұрын
The video is not meant to label things as good or bad. I just threw some examples out there, so people can relate easier. The truth is, anything can be both good and bad. It depends on how you use the thing. If you derive pleasure or other benefits from your playing, I see no reason to stop. The problem is when it turns into an addiction and you're unable to control yourself. That's when you can use the information from this video, to help you better understand, and deal with the problem. 😉

Hi Mauritz Andreae , first I stablished why I want to get away from that bad habit. For me was because I want to improve my life ( health, economy, mindfulness and achievement). First I asked for assist with some code for block my social media apps, game apps for almost all day. Is difficult at the beginning but trough the process you can realize that is better for you. I tried to spend my time reading books, sleeping, running, meditating, visiting my friends and little by little I forgot games and decreased my stress, hence I could stop smoking. I think the key is not to try to change all at once. You have to live the process step by step, think about your future, you life, your relationships and of course think about you! I made my day schedule that includes 18 tasks but I can’t complete all, but I don’t feel but because at the end of the day and week I can see my progress. Remember no ones is perfect. I hope that I can help you with this words. ( now I use my cellphone just for call and message for my close friends and family) (I don’t have any video games at my cellphone and I very proud of me. )
