Nice video and thank you for putting it together to show the difference. I need to look for the othe video you made with the long throw pojector image. I had a fixed screen that I made many years (6-8 years) ago using 1x4 and a cheap projector screen cloth from amazon. It didn't have any light rejecting backing but it produced a decent image. The one thing I liked about it was, over time the fabric would stretch, probably because of the change in humidity and temperature in my basement, BUT, all I would do was pull the screen down, stretch it a little tighter and refasten, then I had a better image. And by better image, I mean less waves, which there were basically none. It served a good purpose and lasted years. However, we had a flood and it destroyed EVERYTHING so now I am rebuilding. This time I am looking for a drop down screen. My son plays baseball and he and my other son have friends down in the basement, SO, I wanted to find a drop down so they can be kids and not risk damaging the screen. I was looking at Elite Screens Spectrum (under $400) and VividScreens, tab tension screen, (under $800). Because I need to rebuild everything, and I'm not rich, so I need to consider the cost. This video really shows the difference between tension vs. non-tension but it I have a long-throw and this is a short throw...BUT... I'm sure the waves in the non-tension are still visible with the Long-Throw. Maybe not as much BUT, I would definitely notice and it would drive me crazy (I have OCD and I'm a carpenter so I notice EVERY small imperfection, which is a blessing and a curse). I'll check out your other video that shows the Long-Throw on the wall vs. Drop-down. Hopefully that will allow me to make a good decision. Thank you for sharing this, well done!

Welcome to the channel. I am sorry you had Flood I hope you recover better condition soon. Long throw projectors are very forgiving and if you can buy a good white screen you will have very good image in a dark room . But kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5a5imeGg7tkqbssi=CyLKI1qaBvLbztof video shows Regular Cheap White Screen is a Waste of Money if I were you vividstormscreen.com/products/vividstorm-alr-slimline-motorized-tension-obsidian-long-throw-alr-projector-screen?variant=39524270801036 this long throw ALR screen will be logical option for better contrast it has tension ( not as good tension as UST Vividstorms but flat enought without problems ) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHWbk4xtpM1olc0si=lhHOk0NSpqTIlCxX video shows how Vividstorm Long Throw Screens React in Lit Enviroment to give you an idea. ALR Screens needs 1800 and above ansilumen dont forget to match brightness for screens are grey if your projector brightness will be low than you can consider High Gain White Screens Like in This Video kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYGphpKGr9V1gKMsi=nMSTvF7mHUKMgYg9 I hope these will help you to get best image possible let us know your final setup . best wishes

aside from the obvious fact that alr screen has huge advantage when using in day light, how much of a big difference is there between alr screen and proper white wall when used in dark room? and is there affordable alr screen on the market?

I've shot that video but it will take some time to publish it. I am going to create as much tutorial as possible.there is no cheap ust supporting alr screen but for long throw there are very cheap and narrow angle alternatives. Also fixed screens are cheaper but having motorized have lots of adventages I will shoot tutorials for this topics hopefully soon👍
