As a former Home theatre installer, I'm ashamed to say that I know installers who don't know the basics of screen and projector setup. I very much appreciate the video and am surprised that some of these companies don't reach out to youtube presenters and hire them as technical reps since much of the training I have received in a variety of disciplines has been lacking in comparison

Great video, and very informative. I quibble with the idea that most movies are 2.35:1. In theaters, movies are a mix of 2:35:1 and 1.85:1. In the past couple of months I've watched Alien, which is 2.35; Aliens, which is 1.85; and The Wizard of Oz, which is a nearly square 1.33:1. For me a 16:9 screen is the best compromise for a projector screen, even for movies.

Beautiful Theater setup, Right now i have a unfinished basement and am going to be using your set up as a guide to complete mine just with some of my finishing touches. Very clean i love it.
I’m on my 2nd projector setup... I went from a ceiling mount BenQ 1080P matched to a motorized and tensioned 100” screen to a Optoma Ultra short throw 1080p matched to a 92” screen at my new house. I almost Have a complete 7.2 surround sound completed. I do have LED kit and I added a few DJ lights for a amazing light show when I listen to music!

I was thinking of a projector for a home theater as we finish our basement. I've read reviews and was going to buy a screen and projector based on the few things I've read. Your videos have been extremely helpful. In fact I've changed course on what I thought would be our best options. You may have saved me a considerable amount of time and money as well. There just isn't enough information given to customers by employees at big box stores or by posters online who may have questionable information and recommendations. Thanks for contributing. Its people like you who make the internet what it was intended to be. A hub for sharing information freely to make life better for all. @@twokey102 I use the 5050ub with a 200' screen but inside only. No complaints with the quality, being I know how to get the most out of it using the advanced settings. Not sure how it will fair with 400' outside. You're gonna need a lot of throw space.

This was a great video. If you ever revisit the topic, maybe cover black screens as well! We custom built a 45”x80” frame with black projector fabric from Rose Brand. We tried out two blacks and a gray, and ended up with Boost 122 IFR. It’s a bit wooly, like duvatyn, but it gave us an analog dithering that renders everything very film-like, and is super ALR for daytime viewing.

I dont know you Chris. I never heard about you. But I am an upcoming projector owner, and the fact that during my research I see this video uploaded 7 hours ago is both creepy, yet amazing. Fresh information is the best. Though this video just kind of convinced me that I'm fine using my freshly painted smooth white wall. Though maybe I'll need to turn down brightness because a pitch black room becomes well lit when the projector is running.
