First of all, Samsung's foldables are sick! That said, it's interesting watching Korean youth starting to choose Apple. I almost expected it since Apple is often equated with luxury. And Koreans are the #1 consumers of luxury brands in the world. Apple has made quite some headway in Samsung's home market. @evo4gplus3 ай бұрын
Luxury isn't really a big factor, Samsung in S.Korea sells their phones with no actual promotions happening since theres no competitor for them in the Android market. If you want to buy a Galaxy in Korea you have to buy it with full price. There's no Pixel, Huawei, Sony, One-plus, etc in the Korean smartphone market. Why'd you buy a Samsung phone with a full price that'll probably have a discount in other countries when you can buy an iPhone that has the same price for nearly every other country? As I'm Korean, in my opinion, trends and reputation are quite important in Korea. They prescribe the standard of social success (for example: fashion, job, residence, looks, etc.). It's changed a lot compared to the past, but it's still a group-oriented and conservative culture (many Koreans deny multiculturalism). Put simply, they are overly aware of other people's eyes. So this is the reason why young Koreans are likely to use iPhones.

I used to be an Android user and Samsung was my main go-to. The last Samsung I had was Samsung S20+, which developed a green line down its screen. Then our Samsung TV developed lines as well, not too long after that. I was given dismissive answers from Samsung Service Center and got really incensed. It costs nearly as much as a new phone to fix the screen, and my warranty had just expired one month before it developed the line. Ever since then, I swear NEVER to buy another Samsung. I switched to Apple for my phone, got an iPad and love the connectivity and the ecosystem they have going on. My TV is now Xiaomi. It's miles better than Samsung and so far there's no problem with both the phone and TV. Apple is just a better made product compared to Samsung. I'm sure they have their duds too and Apple's battery does deteriorate quite fast but that's also the case with all gadgets with batteries. So for me personally, it's not the trend and whatnot, but the entire experience of using Apple products. You just know that it works at the end of the day, and works well.

Rise in popularity also has to do with South Korea's taste for luxury goods. What Apple has done with the iPhone is that it transcends functionality and has become a luxury product. It's not that the iPhone is objectively better in every category, though it does excel in a lot of areas that customers love like the ecosystem, it has been elevated above the price sensitive market into the luxury market where people are willing to pay for the brand. Which leaves other brands like Samsung fight for the bottom and Apple getting more affluent customers, those are the principles of a luxury brand.

I took it to the store and they said the motherboard is fried up and I just used it for 2 years. Now, I switch to iPhone 15 pro because the price of flagship Samsung phone is just slightly lower than iPhone.

I chose iPhone because before I owned one, I got a job as a Mobile QA Tester at Disney Interactive and would test their games and apps on both iOS and Android devices, and after doing a lot of work on both systems, I decided to get an iPhone because I prefered the user interface and more user-friendly operating system overall. I also like the ease of connectivity with my other Apple devices. I'm not really influenced by trends. I thought it was interesting that South Korea is now a first-launch country for Apple. When I worked at Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles, we had to make South Korea a first-launch country along with the US and Canada for new release films because otherwise, the movies would get pirated and released there illegally before the planned East Asian-territory release along with Japan and China. I was surprised that pirating was such a problem there.
