Coach Nick breaks down this incredible and pivotal game between the Clippers and the Spurs. While the referees made some egregious calls, many against the Clippers, it's the attention to detail that eludes them, and the Spurs have out executed them to a 3-2 lead.

ohmanyourecool1 True! And CP3 always seems angry either at the refs or his teammates. Not what an elite point guard should be doing imo.
@t4d0W
@t4d0W 9 жыл бұрын
DerkuiDerkui their entire regular season performance was nothing to write home about, more so in comparison to last year. Nothing about that team dynamically changed. They don't have any wing depth to cover big wing players who can be a problem on the offensive end and they aren't good defending the 3. It doesn't help the Spurs happen to fit that criteria and worst yet if they met the Warriors again in the playoffs this season.
@aaronwoods7874
@aaronwoods7874 9 жыл бұрын
DerkuiDerkui They have a championship team, good sixth man, one of the best point guards in the league, good, athletic center and one of the best forwards, Redick is an elite 3pt shooter, so crawford, and the rest of the teammates do something as well. They need a better coach and they could go easily for a championship, they need a defensive wing like Kawhi tho...

MrBrunoTheBest As mentioned in the video, it was a culmination of things. It's never a good idea to jaw at the refs all game and then do something like this. I'm sure if the Clippers had kept their cool, the ref wouldn't have thought twice about this play. I also think it's been made pretty clear...and not just with Doc...If you criticize refs, you get fined. Carlisle got fined too. It's best just to keep your cool. Maybe Doc should learn a thing or two from Brad Stevens.

Just a comedy of errors from the Clippers... Surprised Pop didn't go to Patty over Tony down the stretch considering Mills has been much more effective than him the majority of this series, maybe he was going for penetration?
@deebarizo4057
@deebarizo4057 9 жыл бұрын
Creative Patty is better than Tony but not as a point guard. Patty is good as a shooting guard when there is someone to set him up like Manu or Boris. Tony can set him up but the defense would suffer a lot with both of them in the game. Also, Tony is probably better as a defender than Patty. Remember game four. Patty got lit up by Austin freaking Rivers, who is not a good offensive player at all.

Creative Parker also has more history of being dependable and clutch as opposed to Mills who while he has had some big moments, does not have the resume to back him up. Parker's experience and veteran savvy are probably higher rated by Pop than Mill's hot streak, especially down the stretch in a close game.

@warblade044
@warblade044 9 жыл бұрын
Harry Mak Not necessarily true. DJ is actually a really good weak side defender who can rotate. He knows the other teams' plays. The problem is the lack of athleticism on the wings. The Clippers wing defense has allowed a lot of dribble penetration. DJ can only rotate so much to cover for the weaknesses of the wings before the the penetrater kicks the ball back out for 3's. Their 3 point defense is terrible compared to last year when they were better able to contain dribble penetration.

No adjustment for the high double screens, has been a little frustrating to me as a Spurs fan. There's no need to guard CP3 that high, and they need to communicate the incoming screens better. Clippers brought this on themselves with the refs. I've never seen a team before so uniformly whiny. They are constantly throwing tantrums and bitching at the refs. And it's not just the players, it extends to Doc and his staff as well. It's ridiculous. Green actually tried to miss his last free throw on purpose. You can see him aim on the replay. I assume so because with only 4.9 secs left for a scramble for the ball much time would have been wasted, which did happen. Leonard seemingly knew the trajectory of the ball which dictate him not going for the rebound on the left but right. just a thought. look at it again and let me know. If that was planned. it was Pop

so glad this video is on KZbin. you can see cp3 get away with so much on last 3 LAC possessions. after the 2 misses by Blake and Barnes gets 2 more, you can see Paul holding kawhi's left arm. kawhi gets called for the foul. then the whole goal tend play you can see Paul try to yank kawhi past him as he tries and cuts, but the cheater trips over his teammates shoe. last possession cp3 grabbing green on the rebound preventing him from using both hands. NBA got what they wanted though. better to split the fan base across two states then having SAS vs HOU same reason LAC lost to Houston. GSW vs Houston more lucrative then two Cali teams going at it

Of course the Clippers choke away another crucial game 5 which now makes them 1-7 all time in those big time games. Its funny, its almost apropos now that they will inevitably choke in these moments and they most definitely know it. I posted on the Clippers forums about their game 5 record (a day before this game) and why it would doom them in that game, and within an hour I was banned. I was totally censored for pointing out their game 5 history. Those guys are something else. Sore losers, and they lost anyway. I like this video, but it does rely on the presupposition that the Clippers are undisciplined and irreverent toward the referees, which is somewhat subjective. It seems as if you almost contend that the Clippers are morally (in a basketball sense, at least) culpable for their misfortune with the refs. Although I don't like the Clippers, I still find it reasonable/fair to hold the referees accountable for their mistakes and expect them to remain impartial regardless of a team's disposition. In short, the Clippers' collective irascibility and poor execution should have no influence on the types of calls that they get in-game.

John Globe When he passed the ball to the ref? Before the call, there was already a high tension between the refs and the clippers coaching/players. With tensions that high, there is bound to be some emotional drawbacks and as a result CP3 got a technical. Usually a player would pass the ball to the ref gently, or even with a bounce pass. CP3 (even though I still thought it was a weak ass pass) chucked the ball at the ref, and the ref took that to offense and called him out.

Rhapzodic CP3 said something like he got for a delay in game. Also the pass maybe a little faster and direct but I don't believe it was forceful to warrant a tech, we don't know if there were words spoken during the play to the ref during the play & the pass which would make more sense.

As bad as the refs were, at least the calls made down the stretch to decide the game were correct. It was basket interference (not Barnes' shot though, that was a blown call, sorry Clippers fans) and Paul had the tech coming. Doc oughta teach his team fundamentals rather than just rely on their athleticism. You win games, but not rings like that.

Rivers should STFU on the sidelines. Of course the refs are gonna hate you when you bark at them the whole game. Just silly! And his theatrical reactions to bad calls just make his team lose their focus.

Diego De Souza as coach said, the clips were complaining the whole game, especially in the 4th.the refs were trying to be patient with them the whole game. it was stupid of paul to throw a bullet pass lite to the ref while all the frustration is in the air.

kaeleb57 IMO I think letting Rivers get TOTAL reign of choosing player personnel may have been risky. His mind for team building is meh, especially when nothing significant has changed from the season before roster wise to what he has now. Espeically nothing that addresses the potential match ups he would face in the playoffs.

chuck can be so old-fashioned in his thinking, I can't stand it; how many times has he said stuff like this: jump shooting teams can't win a championship, analytics can't win championships, point guards should be pass-first, superstars need the ball in their hands during critical moments and everybody should clear out for them, etc

Duncan completely outplayed Blake in the 4th q. of this game. When the possessions mattered the most, Duncan played like a superstar, Griffin played very casual. People keep blaming CP3 and telling nonsense like he never made it to CONF FINALS and blah blah blah but he is the only guy who steps up his game in playoffs for LAC. Take CP3 out of LAC and they won't even make the playoffs. People need to look at Griffin and what he has done since his rookie season. Did he lift this team to another level? Griffin is a casual star in this league, he doesn't have ambition or will to take his team to the finals. Put up 45 and 15 if necessary, do whatever it takes to get a win. No, he doesn't have that mind-set. When he's like that, don't expect anything from LAC. The stars of the team need to push themselves. And a young star like Griffin definitely should. He is playing very casually.
