J.J Reddick is so underrated if you ask me, he does a solid job defensively and is such a great three point shooter, his floor spacing really helps Cp3 get into the lane

shocktonic The funny thing is, he's not athletic enough to be a great defender. But because he plays with 100% energy on D he becomes a good defender. Lvoe to see guys give it all on both ends, guys like Wall and Westbrook show that off.

NbaNewGeneration Just because he shows it in the regular season doesn't mean jack shit when he can't play with that intensity when games matter. What does his defense have to prove in the regular sesason? The Rockets are making it in the playoffs anyway. It's even more hilarious in 3 games of this series where he has still shown the same lapse of attention defensively he was prone to. Its nice he's an MVP candidate in the regular season and his fans believe it so. But he's such a fraud MVP caliber player in the playoffs, when the games really matter.

I think the Clippers are destined to win the whole thing. Basketball analysts/fans, including yours truly (me), questioned Doc's moves as GM, and how his emotional ties to some of his players may have put him at risk of getting fired if the Clippers were to be eliminated at any point in the playoffs. Griffin's the sole reason the Clippers are alive; Jordan is Griffin's best friend; Paul helped make the team relevant; Doc Rivers gave them an identity and a purpose - they are basically putting their friendship, their very own lives on the line. This is more than just atonement for their postseason disappointments. Basketball logic and strategy aside, the Clippers are really trying to win with love, not with power (ex: Allen-Pierce-Garnett in Boston; Wade-James-Bosh in Miami; Phil Jackson's Lakers and Bulls). No example is better evidenced than the father-son relationship shared with Doc and Austin. Every day, they are faced with an ultimatum - united we stand, divided we fall. You can't put a price on friendship or love, and I think that's what going for them. The starters will play heavy minutes, the bench can barely be trusted, their defense will be middling, but as long as they love and trust one another, the Clippers will be determined to defy all odds.

Rockets are terribly constructed. Literally nobody on that team can create shots for themselves consistently other than Harden. When you shut down Harden you have to resort to Dwight's "post moves" and that doesn't cut it. I've been calling them fool's gold since they got Morey. All this talk about 3s and lay-ups and they've consistently disappointed in the playoffs.
@t4d0W
@t4d0W 9 жыл бұрын
jerrybronham Everything about their lil ticks in the series is getting exposed. Their transition defense is horrible and it doesn't help when Blake is clicking on all cylinders and being the guy aggressive on the break.Of course McHale is also getting exposed for his bad coaching and lack of adjustments. He let Reddick burn Terry for a solid moment and didn't even change things up. And even if they have some good defensive role players, they are just uninspired when they don't have the momentum. The only time I've seen the Clippers give up and cave in is when they stop moving the ball like in game 2.

Exactly what i said on bleacher report.Dude the rockets will be a 1st/2nd round exit until morey is gone.jackinng up threes and flopping at the rim will get u nowhere.U cant jackup threes if u have no sharpshooters.Harden n terry are above avg shooters but neither is korver redick or thompson from three not even in the same stratosphere.then u have the layups there is THree players on this damn team who can make layups its dmo harden and brewer everyone else is awful around the rim.This is not a title contending team not even close n les alexander needs to address the front office n coaching this offseason if he wants another title

Basically, James Harden's unwillingness to play D makes everybody look good, giving Doc a slack for picking up his last chance in the league son, Austin himself by looking like a "star", which is - making wide open practice shots and using the off hand to clear out the defender in the air and get the bucket. I'm much more confident about the decision not to give Harden the MVP. And I will give credit to Austin for understanding that "The Beard" will not D him up and exploit it.

It seems the key to beating the Rockets is keeping them off the line. If their isn't a huge disparity in free throws the Rockets aren't winning. Just stay disciplined, don't foul and make them take tough shots. Houston is lucky they got this far because they faced a horrible defensive team in Dallas.
@t4d0W
@t4d0W 9 жыл бұрын
Gmac They are the epitome of a regular season juggernaut. I thought it was the Clippers more than anything but gutting it out against the Spurs in 7 games showed me a lot of their character even when struggling. The Rockets when they are hot are amazing and are doing their thing. But when they are in the losing end, they are completely defeated and you can see it their players with total lack of effort. Definitely starts with Harden which in the two games he's not been able to cash in on the free throw line easily, he does exactly what coach has states a long time ago; defers to being a facilitator. And the amount of turnovers he's generated playing that role against a Clippers team who definitely knows how to deal with him is staggering. He'll try kill you by getting in rhythm but you have pretty much neutralized him as a game changing threat. And when his game and Dwights' game dont' fall into place, they fold considering how predictable their offense is.
@gmac3335
@gmac3335 9 жыл бұрын
BludAardvark I think that sounds very accurate. In the CP3 era the Clippers have been that fluky regular season powerhouse but Doc Rivers has changed the culture and has gotten the most of his players. He turned DeAndre Jordan into one of the best rim protectors in the NBA. The Rockets obviously don't have strong character like the Clippers. With Golden State looking like they will go down to Memphis I think the Clippers have a legit chance at at title. If they get out the West no team in the East is really a challenge, they can do it.

Saw this coming, Iam a life long rockets fan.The injuries to Dmo and Pat Bev are showing but what Iam seeing is a out coaching job. Why is Brewer not starting? Harden handles the ball mostly anyways and Brewer is play some great ball since the trade to Houston. JT is getting burned by Redick and Rivers, so Brewer could stem the tide. As well K.J Mc daniels and Nick Johnson are still sitting there...I don't mean for anything other then them coming in for a few mins and with fresh legs to help with D at the guard spot. We see Doc using the hack a shaq strategy brilliantly. He has been using it to extend the lead at the end of the 2nd quarters. While the Rockets use it only in response to them...like they don't even get why just ""ohh yea!! I got you back!!"" The Rockets are playing in the new school style that everyone says is how the NBA will be from now on. Its more free flowing and set up for your best players to make more plays. Tho we are learning these playoffs and last years, that The "dead" style; a structured offense with post scoring, 1/2 court set focused teams are winning. We saw this once before with the suns....Your team being good at hooping is fun to watch...but being able to play Basketball is how you win rings.

I like Kevin but sometimes I think the rockets defense issue is mostly his fault, I mean God dammit CP3 is hurt af limping all game and the players guarding him are not pressuring him, they keep distance while cp3 is throwing assists, they need to make cp3 play, run, crossover, run until he's exhausted or more hurt is not that difficult since when cp3 is healthy they make him run and play hard it seems that the rockets feel bad for cp3

Daniel Maia Its more on the Clips knowing what to do against the ROckets defense. Did you not see when they just kept hand offs screens and PnRs and executing them to a tee and blowing up Terry/Ariza on them to give Paul the favorable mismatches against a 4 or 5? Hell some of the shit that blew up the Rockets D was Blake/Reddick hand offs that they don't defend well. When the Clips move the ball and when Blake and the shooters are on, the Rockets have to play with more effort to make those stops.

we would have won by over 40 points if blake griffin showed up.....thats what i try to teach the pplayers i train...you can have all the handles in the world but if you don't have ball security then you're useless as a point guard...and blake has 0 ball security

Corey Brewer looked like scoring champ versus harden. ....mvp offensively, but like a college defensively.

Reddick is playing perfect defense on Harden. Finally people realize, don't reach and play him straight up. Rather have him making shot then giving him 10+ FTs a game. I love Harden but he plays no defense. Pretty sad. All defense is, it is effort. I think that the Clippers learned from the Spurs series that you have to play with effort to win, Houston just don't have it. Don't get me started on Josh Smith. Throws up I'll advised shots like its okay, smh...

that's how you play Harden, let him shot those fadeaway 3s, but keep him out of the paint, cuz out of there, he can't get 20+ FTs a game.....

I love to watch coach nicks videos especially after i miss a big game but theres only so much time i can listen to the same background song.... The way it stutters sometimes and just repeats endlessly til the videos over drives me insane.. Wish there was another song or something please

I don't like how harden always tries to draw fouls. He was a good defender in okc. What happened?

After that Spurs series the Clippers are prepared for any team it gave them a ton of confidence. Never likes the clippers but damn they impressed me!

Beverly being out is hurting the rockets so badly. Argubly the best pg defender in the league. Although limited on offence he's better than Terry and Prigioni. CP3 and Redick can have a feild day against the rockets now.
