Everything you spoke about is 💯 PAC’s ability to be vulnerable the way he was, no one in hip hop was doing that. His music and those songs in particular spoke to me. I think his lyrics transcended race. I could relate to so many of his songs, his messages, growing up as this poor white kid, from this small desert town called Baker, Ca, who was now a teenager when PAC was blowing up. I saw first hand the things PAC talked about when it came to police brutality as well as the crack epidemic to welfare system and stuffing Black people in low income housing. What I love about Tupac the most is his transparency. This man initially fell into the trap of the narrative the industry wanted to ppush the black community. When he saw the significance of cause and effect of his influence he began to change his understanding and his message as well. They only wanted him gone when he began to talk about being unified and better people. His message of the hip-hop culture began to focus on the problems we face today and how we need to have solutions that will prevent us from being a mockery and self destructive. The very things we are seeing today in the hip-hop community. Kendricks stance towards drake foreshadows so much about that state of not just hip-hop but the people the culture was birthed around. Kendrick reminded the people to use their brains and stop letting others use it for us. Notice how everyone has things to say about pack nearly 30 years after his death and it was triggered by the one many claim as pacs successor. They brainwashed the culture so bad they gave us fight each other yet again but this time it’s about the choice of accepting a lie versus the truth. Drake was the industry’s golden child and no plant artists has survived as long as he has. The difference is that it wasn’t his own who took him down but the very culture itself who underestimated the power of influence from a truths perspective. If only Tupac was alive I’m sure “artists” like Drake wouldn’t had existed in the first place.

As a 65 year old lover of rap and hip hop, been around from the beginning. My appreciation and respect for 2PAC is from my total experience. Perspective from how the genre was accepted and the journey of 2PAC QuestLove’s opinion comes from his musical background and his life experiences. But Luther wasn’t singing over the sound. It was 2PAC Some of the younger artists can’t speak from or see him as older fans do. The good and the bad. Our perceptions are formed by where the culture was at the time. Not how we see things now.

Pac is the child of the Revolution. He's a legit Black Panther legacy. That alone just sets him apart, and who could touch him with that kind of status? People who think this is about competition and numbers are the direct enemies of the struggle so of course they're gonna feel some type of way when none of their best efforts will get them anywhere close to the love Pac received because we were told to freeze them out the grassroots. The reason we take shots at Pac is the same reason you hear folks talking dirty about Michael Jackson - we don't take the time to understand the impact of our culture creators, which in turn creates the lane to be disrespectful towards them. yeah Pac died the day after my 9th birthday and I remember being shocked by it. Its sad AF to hear people dragging his name through mud for attention. Pac is highly regarded for a reason. All his real fans know and understand the connection to his music. From talking about struggles to that back and forth element with his mom. There's a lot of sincerity in his music. He was great walking that fine line between gangster shit and personal -relatable music. "Perhaps I was addicted to the darkside/ somewhere inside my childhood witnessed my heart die/ And even though we both came from the same places/ The money and the fame made us all change places" I never understood how people could say he's not lyrical when by definition lyrics are the words in a song and this man never wasted words.

Because they think empty smilies and metaphors is all lyrics are about. Subject matter is an important part of lyrics that is never talked about because it will expose a weakness that alot of everybody's favorite rapper's past and present share, they have no depth . For instance Jay Z gets rave reviews for lines like " I hold heat like the oven door " . Yet Andre 3000 pens " I choke when the food they serving ain't tasting right , my stomach can't digest it , even when I bless it " , and it goes unnoticed to hip hop fans in general . We play ourselves like a simple culture. And we are far from simple. 2Pacs line " should we cry when the Pope dies ? My request, yeah we'll cry, if they cried when we buried Malcolm X " is still one of the most haunting and thought provoking lines in the history of the game, but most people don't have that spirit in them to appreciate it. So the Drakes and JayZ's get celebrated, while the 2pac' s and Andre 3000's get called boring and weird....
