Whats crazy about alcohol is how socially acceptable the effects of alcohol are. Everyone has an embarrassing story of something they did while being drunk, which they are quite happy to share. Also, imagine if we talked about being strung out on heroin the way we do about getting drunk. Its crazy.

@@boboloko Understand silica nutrition from beer, due to the barley and hops,… among other ingredient possibilities. For some people beer can be addictive, but not for all people, even if consumed daily. Quantity matters. Fermented beverages / foods are quality consumables, for quality(good to optimum)('quality' = good to optimum in casual parlance) human health. Just water and other foods, that's not healthy enough for me. I'm healthier with quality beer, in moderation. I drink water too. I drink juices, I drink tea, I don't drink coffee,…. because I find they're distinctly not healthy for me,…. whereas, I find quality beer is highly healthy for me. I rarely have liquor, and just a teaspoon or so is all that I find healthy. Wine is somewhere in between,… occasional,… quality wine, preferably oaked/oak-barreled. I know I do great with beer, not for getting drunk, just caloric good nutrition. 4% to 6% is the good intrinsic alcohol percentage range, normally. Non- pasteurized beer is another key quality factor.

My older sister made me never want to drink. She was kind of cruel when she was a teen, but once she started drinking, she was the Antichrist. She always abused my parents physically and mentally while drunk. She said and did unforgivable things, especially to our severely disabled father, such as telling him that she would break his back again during an argument or hitting him because he was basically defenseless. (He was the passenger in a terrible car accident which literally shattered his spine when we were kids.) I’m 30 now, I don’t drink and have never taken drugs of any kind. As someone that has overdone alcohol multiple times in the past, i feel like alcohol will stay legal for a long time. I found that it kind of shuts down people. The very few dreams and goals you had, vanish when you get few shots. All of it stops mattering. Then, when addiction kicks in, the only goal in life that stays, is getting enough money just to get fucked up again. So, it will stay legal because it's profitable, even though highly destructive to society in general.

I became an alcoholic at 20 due to trauma, depression, and anxiety. One night I just passed out while standing and fell face first into a thorny bush, nearly lost my sight in my left eye. Made a full recovery luckily. I decided that this was a problem and went cold turkey on my own volition, no intervention by friends and family, just me deciding what‘s best for me when I was at my lowest. I still have a drink from time to time (maybe one every couple months or so), but it was the best decision of my life to quit the habit.

I'm not an "alcoholic" but rather a "normal drinker" by standard terms. I became a nondrinker this year - and it's been a real revelation. It takes months to see what not drinking is like (the effects linger), and how addicted we normal drinkers are. Think about it, most of us can't imagine having a good time going to a party or a game or a show without alcohol. Quitting is crazy, we think alcohol does so much for us, makes things fun, makes us relaxed, and makes us more more social. In reality, that couldn't be farther from the truth. Love my mornings now, and if I really want to treat myself to something, I'll have a little weed. Never going back to alcohol and don't miss it at all.

I'm glad that I came across this clip because, after almost a decade, I am finally coming to grips with this fact. Alcohol is just as bad or worse than any other toxic substance you can put in your body. It affects people differently. For some people, one drink can cause cravings for it for the rest of the week. A lot of times people justify these cravings, "this beer is perfect with my wings," or "one drink is basically nothing." It's all because the body is craving it. Some people are fortunate enough to where they can have a drink and not care if they had another for a month. For others, a drink is a slippery slope. I am giving up alcohol because I am tired of looking back at life and wondering what could have been if I were sober. I want to feel better. I want to have deep meaningful relationships. I want to say I've reached my potential. For all of those who are with me on this journey, congratulations. Here's an ice-water toast to all those who have decided to shed the baggage of alcoholism and propel themselves into a higher caliber of human being.

I’ve done that more with weed than alcohol. I’m 24, smoked and drank for the first time at 14. Weed stuck with me, I’m fine all these years later and heavy use came in my late teen years. I’m responsible, I have a SHARP memory and I’ve had high grades in life. So overall, way I see it one is the problem when the other isn’t. Any event with alcohol and “good times” I’ve seen devolve in some way. I was a valet, I saw a kid pass out before he got through the doors at a Sweet 16, was SO fucked up that he had to go to the hospital to have his stomach pumped. Yeah “good times”

I got everything back that I wanted in my life plus more with sobriety Now I’m not into meetings or AA I got clean and sober through exercise and eating healthier. Spent all my time schooling my son about drugs, and what they do and which ones can control you. Not even thinking about alcohol. I just never thought about it. I've done every drug I can get, so I wanted to give him reasons not to. I said weed ain't bad, but it can be a gateway if something else is around. Long story short, his mom and stepdad drank with him at 18. Thinking it was okay cause he was at home, that's the dumbest shit. It just makes kids feel safer to drink anywhere. My son died at 19 drunk driving. Fuck Alcohol, it the worst drug!

I drink far too much alcohol and have cut back a lot recently. I really love the experiences of being drunk and normally have a fairly good control of myself, but the withdrawals the day after can be awful- massive anxiety, racing heartbeat and blood pressure through the roof. I can't stand pot however. It is the opposite of a social drug for me. I get crazy paranoia (about things that aren't real threats- like I'm going to stop breathing, or something terrible is going to happen to me), my brain works super slow and I don't feel like talking. I've had it a few times where it's kind of like I'm looking at the world through a TV screen. I like cigarettes if I'm stressed out and it really calms me if I'm worked up about something, but rarely smoke for the last 10 or so years.

I was prescribed Keppra for the seizures after my last one, but unless I go to the ER again, I'm gonna have to take a lot of days off to see a neurologist, who costs a lot more than a regular doc, which is something I can't afford. At least for me, explaining the situation to your job helps. Unless they are complete dicks, they will let you go to detox and keep your job.

A lot of people say weed is not for them because of paranoia. A lot of the weed that is out now is not the same potentcy people were smoking in the 70s/ 80s and early 90s. Growers focus on creating the strongest possible strains because most of the buyers are chronic smokers with high tolerance. There are low thc high cbd strains also there are two main types of weed. Indica relaxes your muscles and makes you feel sleepy while sativa keeps you energized and stimulated creative activity it is not just due to body chemistry. Would people consider mid strain in the cannabis community because they do not get them as high as really just regular weed. Canna tonic , sour tsnumai , tangelo flow are some good strains for beginners

For most of my life, between nicotine, alcohol, and cannibis, I would have considered cannibis to be the most dangerous or harmful drug, followed by nicotine, and finally alcohol. @GrayShark18

Ape Beats but there are still a lot of second hand effects of drinking like drunk driving/ other accidents, rape, violence. Society has just not been willing to paint alcohol black like they have cigarettes.
@apebeats6631
@apebeats6631 4 жыл бұрын
@@GrayShark18 I completely agree with you, but the majority of people dont think about it in that manner. If I light a cigarette in the middle of a crowd, it's an instantaneous affect for everyone in my proximity, whereas if I crack open a beer, no one would really care. I'm just saying it's looked at differently because smoking in public forces people to breathe in that smoke, whereas drinking in public doesn't directly influence the public until a consequence rises from the action of being drunk.

Yeah but the person next to you could get a second hand punch or a second hand glass in the face if they look at you funny. And I don't specifically mean you. I mean the next guy. Alcohol can and does turn people into out of control monsters. You can get in a car and smoke a pack of cigarettes on a journey somewhere. You drink 4 beers you could come off your lane and crash into a bus.. it's not even the same ball park man
@apebeats6631
@apebeats6631 4 жыл бұрын
@@deanmeat3427 That's my point. You could chug a bottle of liquor and destroy your house all by your lonesome. I'm not defending alcohol. It's a terrible vice that kills thousands of people directly and indirectly. Yes, a drunk person can do something to harm someone just because they're drunk. But in our society, the most you see to dissuade alcohol use are "Drink responsibly" and "Don't drink and drive" ads. Whereas tobacco use is 100% negative these days. I still remember Joe Cool from my childhood. My point, and this is the last time I'm going to make it, is smoking in public directly affects anyone close enough to inhale my smoke. If I get plastered, I have to take an action to harm someone in my drunken state. Yes, they're both terrible. Yes, they both kill. Yes, alcohol is worse simply because it's promoted as a great way to catch a legal buzz. So says a man that smokes half a pack of Marlboro Red 100s daily and on occasion drinks between 1 to 4 ipa brews when the mood is right. Look at me talking shit about vices I indulge. Thank you. Mic drop.

You know that marijuana addiction is NOTHING compared to alcohol addiction, right? Alcohol is GABAergic. This class of drugs is the most addicting one. Alcohol is one of the few drugs where stopping cold turkey in some cases leads to DEATH. Can never happen with Cannabis. The withdrawal symptoms of alcohol are insane. Cannabis withdrawal usually is NOTHING compared to this, maybe dysphoria and insomnia for a few days. (I'm not saying Cannabis addiction is good, no addiction is good!) Also, (chronic) alcohol consumption poses some big risks for the human body, unlike Cannabis. If I had to choose between those two addictions, guess what, I'll take Cannabis, the one that doesn't kill you. This shouldn't even be a debate...

@@ABa-ve3ul (Sorry for my poor language, English is not my native language.) My mom drank during my whole life and I became aware as I grew up, resulting in many problem along the years. At some point she had a bleeding in her stomach, took some medication for that (don't know exactly what) and went into a coma (as the medication went straight into her bloodstream because of the wounds in her stomach and her body (liver/kidneys ?) was not able to efficiently get it out of her bloodstream). When she got out of the coma, she lost her memory for some time and quit alcohol. After quiting alcohol she went downhill over the course of a couple of months, loosing a lot of weight and basically her body started failing. She died soon after because of her liver failing. I was already out of the house back then trying to figure out how to set up my life, and this whole episode is kind of a blur tbh. I never got to say goodbye. My dad died more recently. After years of alcohol abuse in our teens, he quit alcohol entirely until some years prior to his death. He moved to the middle of nowhere about 15 years before that, isolating himself from the rest of the family. He was very independend and kind of a loner. No real friends or anything. We visited him from time to time. After he broke up with his girlfriend of 15+ years (he moved in the region because of her) he was incredibly lonely and unable to adapt or move somewhere else (he was already 75). He started drinking to cope I guess. By the time we found out he was already drinking a bottle of whisky a day and having tremors and shakes if he didn't drink. We dried to offer him as much support as possible but at some point we found him on the floor. He must have fallen, maybe hit his head and he passed away. we found him 2 days later. The coroner estimated natural causes, so no further exemination was done to investigate specific causes.

In my troubled and turbulent life I have tried any kind of drug, certainly all the most famous and popular ones. Of course I'm not proud of it but at least I know what I'm talking about. As I see it, after having had a father with alcoholism problems, and having had the same problems myself, I can easily tell that alcohol is the most dangerous and devastating "drug" of all, and it is not just my opinion, but if we take into account the statistics and the data from all over the world, alcohol claims many more victims than all other illegal drugs combined.
