It’s amazing how much the Batfamily contributes to Bruce’s character development yet major adaptations (staring at you with extreme anger, Hollywood) insist on just making him a brooding loner who does nothing but suffer and sacrifice.
@lincolnpascual Жыл бұрын
Well, it's to be expected, especially in 2023, when both Hollywood and the comics industry are dominated by mediocre writers that are creatively bankrupt and simply regurgitate the same tired trash tropes over and over again. Up till about the mid 2000s, both Marvel and DC had a sense of progression. Spider-Man got married. Batman was getting older. Tony Stark conquered his alcoholism. Superman died (that one didn't last long though). The Ultimate Universe started and ended. Hal Jordan became a bad guy. So on and so forth. Now? American comics are trash, and will likely stay that way so long as the big 2 are stuck with Disney and Warner, and those ESG dollars keep rolling in. Likely even after, unless both brands are sold off and someone who gives a shit is able to pick them up (I'm hoping they do get sold, and Eric July scoops them up). Not gatekeeping the industry better was a huge mistake. Filthy fucking casuals stole and destroyed what real fans built over decades, and now WE'RE the "bad guys". I literally learned to read through comics... i have an entire lifetime entwined with these characters. To those in power now? These characters are nothing more than mouthpieces for whatever narrative the writer is pushing.
@chrisahearn789 Жыл бұрын
It's more the fact that none of the adaptations last longer than 4 movies or so and all start at the beginning where he is the brooding loner
@goopguy548 Жыл бұрын
@@lincolnpascualdude how are you acting like the recent batman movie was bad?? It was batman year 1 adaption
@lincolnpascual Жыл бұрын
@@goopguy548 I'm not. But I am acknowledging that its a plot point that has been done to death on multiple mediums. If the 2022 film was the ONLY Batman film that dealt with his early years, it would be unique and worthy of more praise. But it's not. It's just another take on the same fucking thing we've gotten dozens of times. Because Batman isn't allowed to be anything but the brooding loner type with a hard on for "vengance", or "justice", or whatever they're calling it in that particular iteration. We are talking about a character that has been around for nearly 100 years, yet every depiction outside of the actual comics has him redoing the same general events like he's stuck in Groundhogs Day or something. Like I said, Creative bankruptcy. "Hey, here's a good idea! Instead of doing something different with Batman, like oh IDK... letting him emotionally develop and mature further in the public zeitgeist, let's do another origin tale of him! Only THIS time, he's an emo little bitch wearing eyeliner! It'll be HUGE!"
