I find it very interesting that in the first scene you assume that agreeing with Haley would be what makes her happiest, but it's the opposite, the best answer is actually the one when you give her a weekly task, and she accepts easily instead of complaining, and gets angry when you tell Emily to do it because she thinks you don't believe in her ability.

I think the pickle jar scene shows that Haley is open to asking you for help now, even if in a roundabout way, and that when you open the jar, she learns she can trust you, at least subconsciously, that you are someone she can turn to for help, even if it's something little. Also she could be selling her photography online or something or even blackmailing mayor lewis maybe, I feel like Haley is one of the characters where everything is very subtle and it comes down to how you interpret what little you know about her from the game.

Haley is super-easy to make friends with at the start of the year, just give her Daffodils twice a week and then on her birthday. They're very easy to find and aren't worth all that much, plus they level your Foraging. You'll have 4 hearts with her by the Spring dance, which means she'll dance with you, further boosting the friendship. By the time Sunflowers can be grown (one of her favourite gifts), you're likely already at around 6-7 Hearts. Just a few more and you're ready to get hitched. She has the best character growth as well, where she goes from being the spoiled popular girl to the town mom and her relationship with Emily improves. And unlike Shane, she doesn't go back to her old ways when she gets married. She has personality and doesn't require gifts that are absurdly expensive/difficult to obtain. Easy S-tier marriage candidate.
@Leapalot Жыл бұрын
I think this is why I don't run into as much mean content. She's snobby to me for like a week and a half because of her early birthday and easy to find gifts. But I get that it would be tiring if you're just talking to her and she's like, "nice shoes loser" every time you see her. 😅

@@Leapalot I understand why the game's pretty limited when it comes to friendship (the game being made by one guy), but it does feel a bit weird to give gifts to the person who just criticizes you every time you pass them by. I feel like Haley's let down by the system's simplicity. You don't really interact with the villagers beyond their heart events (which requires you to invest in their relationships, something you'll avoid doing if you dislike a character) and they have limited dialogue for the festivals, which is precisely where you'd go to chat and get to know people. I think the game could've benefited more from events like when you find Linus digging through the trash. There's no trigger for it beyond being in the right place at the right time. Haley losing her grandma's bracelet could've just been something you stumbled on during the Summer season and finding it would change her disposition towards you, even if your friendship level was still relatively low.
@Rikrobat Жыл бұрын
@@LAZERAK47V2 - The Linus cutscene requires at least 50 friendship points, for it not to be raining, and it can’t trigger on the first week of a new game save. So, I think it’s fine for cutscenes to be delegated to friendship level, as it implies a deeper relationship with the character. But I do agree that being able to shove gifts at them to raise friendship and not interact at all does the relationship building a disservice. Because you can interact with characters beyond heart events-I make it a habit of interacting with characters as much as possible, especially if I’m on a particular run where I want to learn more about them. Haley’s casual dialogue needs more gradual hints of her recognizing that being “brutally honest” (or “rude,” depending on how the comments hit for you) isn’t the best way to connect with someone. Her lack of growth in that aspect is what holds her back for me. I’m glad you’re more charitable, Haley, but I still feel self-conscious around you after that terrible first impression. I know it would be a nightmare to code, but more reactions to why they love some gifts and hate others could develop their personalities more. Or having some board requests offer insight when you deliver what they’ve asked for. Or even a mechanic where their “friendship points” stagnate if you only give them the same gift too many times in a row.

Haley seems to be one of the younger marriage candidates. Keeping in mind that she and Emily aren't twins, and they're both of suitable age for the farmer, we can assume she's maybe 20, but I suspect that she's closer to 18 or 19. Given that her parents have been on holiday for two years, that mean that she was still underage when they left or immediately after she became an adult. And you don't decide to go on a multi-year holiday without your underage children unless this is the sort of person you've always been and how you've always neglected that daughter. And then take into account that their parents are ale to AFFORD to be on holiday for years and years at a time - their parents are rich. This is a rich couple wanting to raise their family in a simple small-town life (given how Emily's like, perhaps they had a crunchy mom). Then when you really look into it, Emily seems to work not because because she enjoys the sociability of it rather than because she needs to earn a living. When you look at Emily's interests and the amount of time, energy and money it costs, she's not self-sustaining her hobbies on that salary - they're both used to just having lots of money from their parents and spending it carelessly. So what I think the real story behind the story here is; Emily was all grown up when their parents left. But Haley was still underage. She was still a kid. Its not the first time they've overlooked her, because they're the sort of parents who think giving your kids lots of money and toys makes up for not being there. So Haley takes it for granted that that's just how things are, and spends frivolously because she's been shown that that is *supposed* to make her happy. But it doesn't make her happy. And she doesn't understand why until the farmer comes into play.

One interesting thing about Haley that I haven't seen with other spouses (admittedly, I haven't married all of them yet) is that, if you divorce Haley, she isn't super-upset with you like the (majority of) the others are unless you keep pestering her. Instead, she acknowledges that you both once had something special and also acknowledges that being with you helped her grow and improve, and she's grateful for that.

I think Haley is a spy for the enemy Gotoro Empire along with Emily. This is why she never works and sneaks about with a camera. Emily works at the saloon to gather information while the villagers are tipsy. The "parents" are NOT in the picture because both women are from different families and it would get awkward trying to keep their stories straight. Haley has to be a brat to strangers otherwise Elliot (a spy sent by the governor to watch the port) would become wise to their ruse.

Honestly I think the easiest way to fix Haley's arc so that it would be more satisfying for people is just to have it progress a bit more like Alex's. As in, I think the only thing holding Haley back is not having the apology & acknowledgement part that we get from Alex's arc. Like, the 2 heart cutscene is a great starting point. She's at her most self-centered and eye roll worthy, but if you choose the right option, she'll acknowledge that her taking on some responsibility is fair and agrees to contribute more. Already, growth is clearly possible for her even if it's only a tiny bit right now. Now let's say we delete the jar opening nonsense and put the beach & bracelet cutscene at 4 hearts instead. That's a much more natural flow and progression for the player to be like, 'Oh. I guess Haley isn't entirely superficial and unsentimental when it comes to the things she owns. She actually does have some things she values a great deal, and must really love her great grandmother a lot.' Her being super grateful here and giving you a hug will make you think, okay fine maybe Haley isn't all bad. Having the cutscene that makes her dialogue suddenly nicer toward you happen earlier would mean more ppl willing to give Haley a chance and actually get her to six hearts. Now there's room at 6 hearts for a cutsene that would let the player get to know her better. Maybe she invites us to go shopping in the city with her and we have the cutscene happen on the bus (use those unused alt intro assets or smth). She tells us she's surprised someone would want to leave the city and come to the valley and asks you why. She gives us some insight as to why she focuses on shopping so much, maybe admitting that it is a coping mechanism that helps her fill the hole of aloofness or purposelessness she feels or w/e. Maybe she has a moment of self reflection and realizes she'd like to try to push herself to try new things and go out of her comfort zone too, like we've done by starting our life over in the valley. Then, just like Alex does, she apologizes for being rude and flippant to us when we first met and thanks us for giving her a chance anyway. That'd lead nicely into the cute cow cutscene at 8 hearts, and boom! Problem solved.

Another thing I'd like to point out is regarding the fact that Emily seems to be the only one working, giving Haley the appearance of being a lazy leech. This is likely more due to the game's limitations. Haley's a photographer and mentions that she orders her clothes online. This means that she likely has her own website for pictures and such, kinda like how Leah can sell her art online in one of her 8 Heart event resolutions. Additionally, it's easy to forget that photography is an integral part of a particular industry that everyone who owns a business wants/needs to get involved with: Advertising. If Pierre's running a sale, Haley's likely the one who gets called for pictures. Same with Robin, Clint and Marnie (Joja probably has their own contract). She probably also gets more work if Leah tries to make Stardew Valley a destination place for art, as Leah will likely commission Haley to take pictures of her art for advertising purposes. Tourism is also a big factor with Stardew Valley, with their festivals (especially the Fall festival and the Night Market) attracting people from outside the Valley. Lewis probably has Hayley taking pictures throughout the festival for things like brochures. We also have to consider living expenses: Emily's hobbies (clothing design, crystals/gems and healthy eating) is likely significantly more expensive than Haley's lifestyle, who's expenses seem to boil down to new clothes and photography materials (film, developer, etc.) Emily even mentions that Cloth is difficult to obtain in Stardew Valley and very expensive. That's not even counting the amount of money she spends on gemstones. So Emily working at Gus's (PART TIME, might I add) is likely to fund her own interests, similar to how Maru works at the Clinic to fund her gadgets. A part time job at a saloon would never pay enough money to support two adults. Based on this, I believe it's safe to say that Haley isn't a lazy leech. She *does* do work around the house and, like the video said, prefers if you propose a practical solution to her disagreement with Emily. Remember, this disagreement wasn't due to the fact that she was being asked to do it, but rather that each sister thought it was the other's turn to clean under the cushions, and disagreements like that DO happen when chores aren't clearly delegated.
@dmin57828 ай бұрын
For Emily, she seems to sell her clothes online, just like what Leah could do, since she has her own computer. She'd likewise be hired to make dresses, outfits and other crafts for events like the Flower Dance or the Fair. Moreover, Emily is also likely the supplier for the Oasis, considering you can buy clothes there and how Sandy is into the clothing business as well. For the gemstones, Emily doesn't go out of her way to buy crystals often. The only time she spends money on them is on her special quest AFAIR. She might say the Saloon job is part time, but it's weird that she works 9 hours a day everyday pre-marriage. Gus himself only opens shop at 12.
@cacaumassipanoficial6203 Жыл бұрын
I've been thinking about this for a long time, but what if Haley has a shopping addiction because of some problem she had? The way she talks about throwing things away to make room to buy more may not just be a joke, it's not about the things but the feeling people get when buying them, especially in Haley's case as she mentions that she needs to leave the valley to buy her things, so she could use shopping as an excuse to go out and do something different to feel better. But feel better about what? Well, in the game she mentions an important bracelet from a family member who is probably gone at that point, and her own parents have been away for at least two years, so she probably misses them even though she has her sister around since the two are very different and have different schedules and hobbies, never really spending time together. Haley may feel bad about losing these people and feel like she can't count on her sister, especially after finishing school and having nothing to do, she talks about this during her first heartscene, if you choose to make Emily do the task Haley will complain that you're treating her like she's useless or spoiled. Because of this, she buys things to feel good and leave the valley if necessary, but that doesn't help, and she needs to buy more and more, to the point where she thinks about throwing things away just to make room for new ones faster. That's why I like it when her dialogues change a little due to the player's influence, it's something small, but the fact that she mentions that she's going to donate her things is really good because it shows that she started to think about her situation, she even begins to appreciate the city and nature around her more.

I think for a lot players, each character has an archetype that makes it easy to project onto them. In some cases it can allow for good projection like 'Harvey reminds me of my dorkish husband' or 'my best friend is kinda alt like Abigail' but I think a lot of players have had encounters with Mean Girls who act (and look) a little too much like Haley. I know she gets better, but by the time we get there, I'm tired. I'd rather spend that time talking to anyone else besides the sprite who looks way too much like my school bullies combined. While that might be shallow, I think it's a big reason. The same way people might refuse to date Shane or Sebby because of substance abuse, or Sam cause he feels like a kid. It's hard to ignore our past perceptions in media

I think that's fair! It's hard to fight those ingrained biases, especially when first interactions seem to confirm them! And if all you care about it getting 8 hearts, you really don't need to talk to her that much. So that why I believe she’s more dislike than someone like Alex.

My one issue with Haley is that she triggers memories of when I was bullied in high school by the “popular, mean girl.” And yes, we see her character development that she’s not as shallow and superficial as she first appeared, but her dismissive, insulting behaviour from when you first met isn’t resolved or apologized for. So, I have to imagine she’s still judgmental and doesn’t see why her approach was/is hurtful. In real life, I could learn to be courteous to my bullies but I certainly wouldn’t want to marry any of them. Obviously I can separate real life from this fictional character-she isn’t my literal bully-but first impressions tend to speak a lot louder than other interactions. I can acknowledge and value Haley’s development from stranger to letting her guard down with someone special, but it doesn’t necessarily put her at the top of my marriage-candidate list. For clarity: I think Haley is a well-written character, but not necessarily the best bachelor/ette.

Yay! Always loved these videos. Haley's core issue is one many of the other less popular marriage candidates have - there doesn't seem to be a payoff that tackles what players see as their greatest issue. Now, yes, Haley learns to be a much kinder person. But she still lives off of Emily and just does what she wants all day. I don't think there is any dialogue about how she helps more around the house, or learns how to cook, or much of anything. Even her best characterization development only occurs at 14 hearts, which is an insane investment. Same issue as Sam, who doesn't seem to resolve character issues until far after the point where players would have already picked someone else. Apparently, much like Shane, who goes through this arc about getting help for his depression and alcoholism...and it ends with him "drinking" all evening (and still loving beer as a gift). Obviously, there are game limitations that prevent these changes. But it still feels superficial to a degree when minor issues are addressed without the major ones being resolved. Compared to, say, Leah, whose major issues are her monetary issues and her creepy ex. And her storyline cleanly resolves with her selling her art (either online or at events) and slugging her ex in the face. But that's just me being an armchair critic. Lol
@Leapalot Жыл бұрын
Totally! Her schedule, just like everyone else, doesn't really change based on your relationship. Other than that she doesn't hang out with Alex I guess. But! She does try to learn to cook which you can see at six hearts: “I cooked dinner last night. It actually turned out okay! But I did make a huge mess in the kitchen...” She does also mention becoming closer to Emily at 8 hearts, but doesn't do any additional work... 😅

Cake walks were a part of my 90's childhood growing up in the sticks in Minnesota. School carnivals and PTO fundraisers utilized them to make a quick buck off the parents of the kids who volunteered to bring a cake. Now days everything has to be store bought because of safety and allergens.

When it comes to first impressions, I don't really think that Shane is as bad as Haley. He mostly just says "Leave me alone" or "What do you want?" which, while yes, it's rude, it's pretty typical from someone drinking alone in a bar. On the other hand, on your *very first* interaction with Haley, she goes out of her way to tell you that you're ugly and your clothes are bad. I'm on yr 6 in my longest playthrough and haven't got past 6 hearts yet! People say it's just a defense mechanism to keep people away, but you can be defensive without insulting people on a personal level - Shane manages it!
@KetchupSauces9 ай бұрын
I mean, she only says the clothes are ugly but calls us cute if we weren't dressed like a scarecrow Tbh the time I played Stardew I originally started romancing her as a joke bc I was playing on a friend' switch while we were drinking and liked how she looked and my friend didn't liked her bc she was mean, but I honestly kept warming up to her and stayed up all night and ended marrying her thanks to a pink cake that I got from a dumpster (classy)

While I can appreciate her growth, I think they put it far too late in her relationship. If they had done a more gradual shift, and given more signs of her good nature from the get go (even if it's just when she thinks no one is looking, the farmer overhears a LOT of shit they aren't supposed to), people probably wouldn't hate her so much. I just don't have the patience to work with someone from completely rude to me for no reason to friend or love interest. And as others have said, she's far too similar to real life bullies some of us actually had to deal with growing up, and being around her is either triggering or at the minimum even more exhausting than it likely is for people without that kind of history.
@Rikrobat Жыл бұрын
This exactly. Her growth feels more akin to seeing she’s not just superficial and does become more charitable-but does she become less judgmental and snobbish towards people she *doesn’t* know? I think there is dialogue that she donates her clothing, so she’s eventually helpful outside her own community, but I don’t recall any moments where she acknowledges how rude and mean she was when we met, and how maybe she shouldn’t treat people that way. Perhaps that’s implied in her character development, but I would have preferred evidence of this self-reflection.

I believe Haley's (current) room was shared with Emily, so they lived in the same room with 2 beds. But then, Haley likely wanted the room to herself, assuming she thought Emily was annoying. So it's likely after their parents left, Emily decided to fulfill Haley's wishes (atleast until their parents came back) by occupying their parents' room, which likely explains why there's a double bed.

I know this is a haley video and not a Shane video but i think Shane and haley are in the similar boat, "Mean character that gets better overtime but people hate them because of their starting dialogue" but the differences between the two are that haley doesn’t rlly have the huge baggage that Shane has (plus she’s attractive so many ppl like her) and Shane isn’t that, i get so tired on people that hate on Shane because he doesn’t instantly stop being depressed once you romance him and call ppl who romance him fixers because they marry him but most Shane fans don’t want to fix him they want to stay by him while he heals himself and i believe that people who say that are the ones who tried to fix him and realized 8:41 they couldn’t (tldr: shane romancer rants about people who hate shane and brings up haley in there too)

Most of us had to endure a "mean girl" or two when we were young. Of course, if you still are young (like most people playing this game?) maybe your memories of enduring said mean girls are still fresh. Or you're still stuck enduring them in day to day life. Maybe it cuts a little deeper for them when Haley's first impression plays so strongly to that type. "Oh here we go again" etc. And her best moments are "hidden behind the paywall" so to speak, so if that first impression puts you off, you'll never invest the effort to see them. But mostly I think it's that Bashing Haley is a meme that's taken on a life and momentum of its own due to so many Stardew youtubers, going back years in some cases, having running gags about how terrible she is. So people just kinda roll with it.

The Farmer could give her a pep talk, words of encouragement, etc. It would be more meaningful than that pickle jar scene, anyway XD Great video!

Honestly because I'd never reached even 4 hearts with her I had no clue about her later dialogue. She's kinda just seemed like a bitchy and entitled rich kid. Now that I know about the later heart stuff I don't hate her, just kinda neutral. I do still much prefer the characters who are openly friendly towards you or behave neutral towards you because Shane has 0 reason to trust a complete stranger, and Linus is typically hated by strangers so his caution makes sense. For marriage candidates, I haven't ever made it far enough with each of them to really judge beyond first impressions, but Sebastion reminds me of who I used to be (this is bad), Abigail *somewhat* reminds me of who I am now, Sam is kinda just chill, Alex is... Alex, Penny is a blessing to the community (even if she's about as bland as white bread), Emily works hard and is pretty chill (this is good), and Maru is really cool

My feelings on Haley as a character are largely apathetic. It could be because I have seen the archetype of the ‘privileged mean girl who warms up to you’ in so much popular media that I have been burned out on it. I feel like characters like these are everywhere and there is little to distinguish them from each other. That, and the fact that I have been demanded to turn the other cheek with so many rude or actively malicious people on so many occasions only for them to never show any signs of depth or maturity despite all of that forgiveness makes the “mean people who have to warm up to you” type to be characters who have to be very carefully and thoughtfully written for me to care about. And Haley is a little too broad strokes in how she is executed to really impress me. She just doesn’t stand out much to me.
@chunanigans Жыл бұрын
Concerning the differences of being rude early game Haley vs Shane: Shane is a depressed alcoholic who kinda lost his spark in life and [spoiler alert] is even willing to end it all. Through his friendship with the farmer, he learns to appreciate the little things again, like caring for his chickens or giving gifts to Jas to make her happy. He does not do a 100% recovery (no one with chronic depression really does), but that just makes him more relatable. He's mean because he's sad and pushes people away because he is scared of getting hurt and he believes he does not deserve good things (like friendship/romance). Haley on the other side is mean and superficial for no deeper reason. She just is. Sure, she might miss her parents, but Emily is in the same spot and she's never mean to the farmer. Then Haley kinda sees that there's more to life than clothes and makeup, but there is no deeper understanding of why she changes. She just does. And I feel like this lack of depth (especially when compared to some of the other character storylines) makes her appear flat and shallow. No hate to the Haley stans obviously lol Personally, her story doesn't really convince me, which is why I never really bother with her.
@Leapalot Жыл бұрын
I think part of that is fair, growth coming out of nowhere is a fair assessment! Her dialogue changes do happen at 6 hearts which is when you can get her beach scene so I always equate them, but they're not locked behind that scene by any means. I will say though, not everyone's struggles are as visible as Shane's. Sam might or might not have ADHD or some other executive dysfunction based on some of his dialogue and personalty traits, but the writing just hints at it. Haley might have an avoidant attachment style based on her parents providing her the physical necessities but not being involved in her life. But again, there are just hints around the edges. Just another take though, and I know it doesn't matter since you'll just marry Harvey anyway. 😅
@VelkanKiador10 ай бұрын
I wouldn't necessarily say that the 6 heart event sparks a change in Haley, but it's more of a establishment she isn't as shallow as she first came across. Let me go through this one in detail. First off, it's entirely possible for a player to arrive at the 6 heart event still thinking Haley is just a shallow vapid girl. Her first dialogue to the player is insulting, her two heart event is her being a brat, her four heart event is her being impressed by you opening a jar of pickles with your big hunky arms and realizing there might be some muscle beneath your clothes. And when I romanced her I kinda checked out on her in game dialogue, and only paid attention when she was talking in cutscenes. I was doing all the romances and Haley was just another in the check list. And I think Concerned Ape anticipated this, that it is entirely possible that they kinda assume the worst. And my proof of that is that you only lose 30 friendship points if you go with the "Relax, I'll just buy you a new one!" option. That's a pretty rude thing to say, but given that it's Haley and she hasn't given off the best impression so far it's a fair assumption. And CA doesn't want to punish you too badly. And let's talk about her bracelet, that things got to be so out of fashion right? It's her great-grandmothers. I remember my grandmas jewelry being so old fashioned, and everytime I saw her wearing jewelry as a kid I had to physically resist yelling "Get with the times Granny! The future is now Old lady!", and she was 40' when I was a kid. So imagine how old fashioned her great-grandmas bracelet has to be right?! This does show us a few things about Haley. She is sentimental, she loves her great-grandma, and she doesn't care how out of fashion the bracelet is. And keep in mind that she has probably been wearing that bracelet the whole time! So this isn't character development, but a reveal of who she always has been. Also look at the gifts she loves and likes. She loves coconuts and sunflowers because they remind her of summer, she likes fruit salad because she takes care of herself, and she loves pink cakes because she has a sweet tooth. But none of her loved gifts are actually materialistic in any way. And she hates Prismatic Shards! One of the rarest, most beautiful and valuable gems in the game. Even if you didn't personally like it I at least assume you could get some cold hard cash for it to shop for clothes. Yet Haley hates it? I'd say this is a strong argument against her being materialistic. So yeah I'm not trying to argue that she doesn't go through character development, obviously she does. But I'd argue that her romance is just as much about discovering hidden depth to her that you might have overlooked. And part of what makes her extra intriguing is the parts where it's not clear cut whether or not she has gone through growth or if she was just always like that and you didn't notice. Like for someone who hates nature so much she sure spends a lot of her time taking nature photos. I'm not saying she doesn't hate the mud or the smells or the nastier parts of nature. But when she falls into the mud in her 10 heart event I'd argue when she just laughs it off it's equally plausible that she hasn't gone through character development, and this is just her showing a side of her you didn't see before. We don't know if this is character development or a reveal of hidden depth you just didn't see, and that's intriguing!

I don't hate Haley, but I don't love her either. From what she says, she spends a TON of money on clothes and shoes and earns nothing to pay for it. And she can't even be bothered to do the most insignificant cleaning task. Meanwhile Emily is working long hours at the saloon to "pay the bills" while still doing "the vast majority of work" around the house. I don't know, maybe Haley's parents, who are clearly rich, send her a lot of gifts and ignore Emily altogether. (She certainly fits the stereotype of a rich girl a lot more than Emily does.) Early on, Haley is too snobby or self-absorbed even to talk to you if she's not in the mood. She does soften up pretty quickly with gifts, but other than that cute scene with the cows she's not terribly likeable to me. The lost bracelet scene and her 14 heart event are okay but I don't find either one endearing. All that rigamarole to pay for a few books for two kids? Give me a break, she could sell her last year's wardrobe and buy a new school.

one thing people don’t pick up on is that haley’s liked and loved gifts are all either things you can forage for or cook, besides sunflowers. additionally they’re all things that don’t last a long time at all. it feels like she much more appreciates the effort behind the gift rather than the gift itself. i think it’s a really nice detail, whether or not it was intentional

This reminds me of what someone said about Tunderes, that people respond more to a change in attitude than a good attitude. This is why a tundere that's rude or even physically assaults the main character before eventually warming up can gain an audience, because some people care more about that warming process than the fact that the character was willing to physically assault someone because they didn't want to admit to a crush. In my opinion, the fact that Haley was so *incredibly* lazy that she makes a big deal about cleaning couch cushions when supposedly Emily is doing literally everything else around the house.... That's a BIG deal, and I haven't seen enough from her to convince me that she isn't still incredibly lazy, even if she might have a slightly better attitude about it.

I wouldn't say I hate her per se, nor is she my least favourite candidate, but for me personally I just saw myself becoming really attached to other characters more so. As some people have said, she can often remind you of a typical high school bully which can be very offputting in a game where you're supposed to be able to (somewhat, mostly) relax away from reality. There is also the fact that the majority of her more noticeable character development isn't until much later and I can definitely understand just not having the right patience to make it there and instead just make life easier with someone else lol. That being said, she is well-written, as some people do take longer to open up than others so I like that about her.

Hoping the wait isn't too long! Haley's room fits best on a beach farm though to me. Not sure about what'll look best with the new one!

She is what we call the 'Tsundere'

I would rather have Abigail over Haley to be honest, I am in my first run, 2nd year, and I accidentally maxed out Haley, despite wanting to marry Abigail. The thing is that Haley has so few dialogue options after marriage, that meh, is not interesting for me, it has like 7 lines and nothing special, according to the wiki tho

The big question is in spring first does she have a special marriage dialouge

Of course the farmer is strong. I mean... whole day he's digging, mining, chopping trees, fighting with a sword. And it's day by day, year dy year. If it doesn't make you strong, then what does?

Tbh I never minded the rude intro just because it reminded me of the beginning of the princess bride, almost feels deliberate

I always figured no one liked her because of how preppy she is and the stereotype around that. When going through the marriages I have to say, the 8 heart scene with her was the most memorable.

In my now 6 full playthroughs, I actually gave her a chance once, and while the post-marriage heart scene was nice, her overall feel was underwhelming. But then again, few people can survive being judged against Leah.

Haley went from being my least favourite bachelorette to being my 2nd favourite after Penny! She's really sweet after 6 hearts! If I wasn't 100% committed to Penny in all of my Play thoughs I would definitely consider marrying her!

Abigail was just easy peasy, she spoke to my gamer heart to a girl. I didn't think it was work to gift/deal with her, Haley was like, NOPE. SDV is such a deep game though, you miss out on taking the easy path.
