Happy Chaos' normal shots will only fully track when curse is on the opponent, and can reload with his 632146 S overdrive. His steady aim prevents the opponent from zoning since it tracks better and is faster than other projectiles.

In my case, I play bedman and after getting my ass beat over 100 times by a guy I know who mains chaos it's just like you said, a waiting game. With both Chaos and Asuka you basically just gotta know the match up and watch their resources and then you'll be able to find out when to strike.

As a testament main I don’t hate chaos I just do funny scythe projectile into teleport once I trick him into backing himself in the corner and then win game

My main strat of beating happy chaos as a goldlewis main is either just waiting until he’s low on resources as you said, or just using my orbital cannon since if he has the gun out he litteraly cannot block it and he has to stop pressuring me because otherwise he gets obliterated 😂. Unfortunately if it’s a really experienced happy chaos they never seem to run out of bullets or focus so it becomes way harder to counter him

Saying he's a zoner is a misnomer considering he's perfectly happy to run right up to you and pressure you to death with his insane offence provided he has the buffs and resources to do so. He's more of a control character that forces you to play the game at his pace than a zoner in that sense, akin to zato rather than axl. Zoning just doesn't have much going for it aside for stalling to set up focus + curse (which granted it is extremely useful for). And by that metric that means he has very high highs but also very low lows - the return you get for cornering this blue maggot is much much higher than say a character like Sol or Leo, who are both defensive behemoths and don't mind too much if they lose neutral given their powerful reversals and normals. His tools are extremely powerful sure, but they're far from invincible and there are other strong characters like Chipp, Millia and Bridget that have the right toolkits to break through his neutral and obliterate him in the corner - especially since wild assault has evened out the average return characters get off hits. He's been nerfed enough that very few people consider him to be top 5 now when he's competing with characters like Sol, Goldlewis, Nago, Ramlethal and Leo who have much more stable gameplans than he does. He's an asshole character but there's more asshole characters than just him nowadays.

I think it's too early to say how good he is this patch since people haven't completely adjusted to his zoning nerfs and the positive changes but I'd say he is at the very least in the top third of the cast. It is really hard to overstate how much he needs the concentration buff now! He gets 3 shots at fullscreen with no buff now and with the positive changes and guard crush nerf he can't blockstring you for five years after a wall break. It also affected his burst situation as well since now he needs both setup tools to start gunning. He also has no reversal and about average health, you can run him over with your car if you get the chance. He still nasty though, I think the real reason people dislike him is because he dictates the pace of the game at all times... effectively. Thank you for coming to my TED talk :)

Dash Blue RC -> wild assault is a universal way to escape the aim reticul and punish the extended hurt box on aim stance, provided you arent full screen and HC doesnt have meter to Purple Rc. Characters that can dash block (canceling dash with fd) have a much better time vs his zoning. If your character has a reversal, establish that you are willing to use it early in the set. Without meter, HC can't actually gaurd crush aim shot from a true block string, so buffering reversals while you are in a blockstring makes a good HC player choose safer pressure with no Gaurd crush. Without getting a hard knockdown first (for concentration), HC cant maintain that "safe" pressure like he once could in older patches due to the increase concentration cost on normal shot. I highly recommend buffered reversals, gunshot is manually timed and most HC's leave gaps. All in all: HC has no reversal, has input overlap on his most consistent jab, can lock himself out of blocking with a missed timed heavy slash. Please just pull up (easily said, harder to do) and press buttons on him. Every character in strive has SOME messed up pressure/mix, HC has to pray and watch as he gets mixxed as hard as he mixs other characters. People are still not bursting his shots, even though burst hits full screen now, something you can consider if your character has a decent dash/run. Its risky as all hell or free for HC to enter aim stance (depending on the match up) if the opponent burst away the HC. Big bodies, save that burst for wild assault. Please please please, try some counter play against HC, it does exist. All that said, yeah HC still one cheap mofo, but this patch is the weakest version of him yet.

I play Faust and tend to win against Chaos. But even when I feel like I completely one sidedly kicked their ass and was dominating the whole game I still end with like 25% hp, fuck Happy Chaos.

if you're losing to happy chaos on floor 4-6 then thats a you issue ain't no one there know how to play him. also in the season 3 update they more less balanced him out a little more trading nerfs and and buffs but in the elphelt update they significantly nerfed his at the ready concentration consumption and they nerfed his guard crush time. so he has less potent mix and isn't an auto pilot character anymore. this video sounds like it should've been made a year ago when he was actually a carried busted character

The reason I dislike playing against Happy Chaos is because of how insanely good his normals are AND having the gun to make him safe from punishes. He basically gets to make his unsafe moves safe and steal away your turn to press buttons over and over. Also the man has a ton of guard crush so he's usually plus. Also pretty sure he has the blue Wild Assault, so he has even more guard crush. Ambiguous cross up/ jump in game with the toe tap being able to juggle itself making you guess if you have to continue blocking high or if he's going to go for a low. All of this AND both of his supers help him keep up his game plan. Out of bullets? Super. Out of concentration? Super. Even with his season 3 nerfs, he's probably going to be better than most of the roster still. I don't mind him being strong, but here's hoping that he's more tolerable to play against now.

Maybe you should get you eyes checked because all you're doing is making an ass of yourself by assuming extra meaning from my original comment instead of taking it at face value. Maybe take a reading comprehension course or something. Like it's one thing for me to have a supposed "skill issue" in a game but your ass has a skill issue in real life.
