I got this knowing today...."father and mother" are the authorities that govern your expectations. In other words,it simply refers to the spiritual entity that holds the keys to your desires per time. It has nothing to do with your earthly parents.a very relatable example is this -stop seeking wealth and rather seek the spirit or authorities that owns wealth. when we ho through that kind of trauma from our parents its because thats what they learned and chose not to learn another way of treating others respectfully in love. It is up to us as individuals even though treated the way we were trwated we come to a certian age in our childhood where we know thats not how we want to be treated and so we need to learn how to treat ourself better so we can treat others better then we were or still are being treated by our parents that way we can have thw knowledge and desire to treat our parents the way God teaches us to so we can have the promise He says we will. Because not only will we be respecting our parwnts, we will be respecting othwrs in the community like doctors, teachers, co workers and bosses ect and thats how we are remembered and recognized is by our actions. Regardless of our parents actions towards us or others in out lives we dont have to follow the negative traits. we have the choice to honor and make our own legacy's, traditions and/or our own way of how people percive us by how we conduct ourselves and how we treat other's.

First of all. The Ten Commandments were sorely misinterpreted. Honor thy Mother and thy Father, actually means honor our Father, Creator of all things with his light, and the Earth our Mother. They are both living beings who were given life by father and mother nurtures us with the elements of her many physical forms. We have gotten away from knowing that Father is our actual Father he just doesn’t do sibling labels. That’s a human thing for he nor mother are not human.

I am assuming you are referring to "Fathers do not exasperate your children." I would absolutely agree with that including, "spiritual fathers." That does not change honor though. Here is one of the questions I like to pose when talking about this. It helps to clear of few things up and I wish I would have put it in this video. Maybe I should do a part 2. Is it more honorable to pretend like your parents were/are perfect for fear of dishonoring them or talking bad about them, OR is it honorable to be honest about their treatment of you(at least how their treatment made you feel) so that you can release them and walk in freedom, allowing them to do the same? Of course, most people would agree with the second one. So honor is a position of our heart, that we can reclaim. We can also work on guarding our heart and maintaining honor to the best of our ability. Sometimes that may involve boundaries and removing yourself from a situation. Thank you for the comment

What if ur parents are not in christ, and abusive? Also as with the question below, I wonder which definition of honor is being applied here.
@dougcrew19567 жыл бұрын
Hi Karma. I replied to the definition of honor question below. As for your part, most of what we deal with has to do with forgiving parents and authorities figures for past hurts. A position such as the one you are describing is extremely difficult when it comes to honoring parents. We often say that you are not responsible for the wounding that happened to you but you are responsible for your response to it. That sounds harsh on the surface but what it is really saying is that if you continue to walk in unforgiveness and bitterness, the only person it is hurting is you. For this, I like the description of honor that explains that we don't honor people because they deserve the honor. We honor people because WE are honorable. In other words, we honor all people. Romans 12:20 says, "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." While I realize that this is easy to say and much harder to do, particularly in the situation you described, there is freedom in it for the one who chooses to honor. A few things, honoring someone doesn't mean you accept the abuse. Honor can involve setting boundary lines and even leaving to find help. If you are not able to leave, then protect yourself the best you can. Depending on the relationship it could be that displaying honor towards parents can break them. Jack tells the story of repenting to his dad for ceasing to be his son and cutting him off. His dad broke down and said that he was the one who should be asking Jack for forgiveness. Jack's dad treated Jack the only way he understood. He knew it was wrong but he was so hurt he didn't know how to love Jack. I hope this helps.

And so. What this Jesus meant by this scriptures? Because i am a victim of abusive parents too, cursing and want to kill me because she said she’s the one gave me my life so she is the one can take my life away from me too. Although in my heart i already forgave them. But they still have that very high pride as a parent. In Matthew 12:46-50 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, His mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to Him. Someone told Him, your mother and brothers are standing outside wanting to speak to you. He replied to him, WHO IS MY MOTHER AND WHO IS MY BROTHERS? Pointing to His disciples, He said. HERE ARE MY MOTHER AND BROTHERS. FOR WHOSOEVER DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN IS MY BROTHER AND SISTER AND MOTHER.
