Quick question for woman who are calling men insecure for judging a woman by her past. If you met a man for marriage and asked him “do you plan on getting a 2nd wife?” And he said yes!. Would you be totally ok with it and marry him? Hell no!’ Right?. It’s ok for you to reject him due to a halal thing he wants in future, but then go crazy when he rejects a woman for her haram past 🤦‍♂️. This is utter hypocrisy. The aim of the podcast is so men and woman understand each other Better. And I’m not saying a woman who has a past can’t be better than a virgin.

Yes and I would add that if a man or woman who has committed zina is accepted by a virgin, then this is a gift from Allah. They shouldn't feel entitled to marry a virgin but hope and make d'ua that Allah will gift them a marriage with a virgin. If that's not what they get then it's to be expected.

@The reflector rarely find one? How do you know that? It’s not rare to find a pious Muslim man especially if you live in a Muslim country. Also how is she comparing herself to a man? If she is a virgin woman, she has the right to expect a virgin man as her spouse if that’s what she wants. Please stop being misogynistic, when it comes to virginity men and women don’t differ, both should be virgins until they get married, it’s haram for BOTH to commit zina. Don’t make it seem like it’s okay if a man is not a virgin, but it’s not okay if a woman isn’t.

The virginity of BOTH men and women are important. If you are not a virgin yourself, you should not expect to marry someone who is. Men and women who have a sinful past, you don't have to expose your past sin by disclosing about your past but if the man/woman trying to marry you has a requirement that they will not marry someone with a past then just don't marry that person. Simple. You don't have to hide your past just to get married. If you believe in Allah then depend on Allah. If you don't ever get married then accept that it is a test from Allah for a better afterlife. If you hide it just to marry a virgin who was expecting to get a virgin spouse then you are just deceiving that person and sinning even farther.

I was exactly the same. When I met my husband and found out he was married before (which was a halal relationship) I cried and said no 3 times, but he kept coming back and begging me. Also because he was the only man to ever want to marry me for me not my citizenship (and he was an engineer, my secret wish because I'm a physics teacher and I wanted someone thinks the same way I do) eventually I caved. But what I always worried about is, were his other wives prettier than me? Were they better at satisfying him? When I shared that concern with him he said, "you all taste the same, but you bring stability to my heart, mind and home". When his relatives would meet me, they would tell him he doesn't deserve me, he would be the happiest man on Earth. He would come home and say thank you for being wonderful.

Im a divorcee with children. When I remarried, I married a man who was also a single father. It was a perfect match. We had similar experiences and I am a good mum to his children. Ironically though I wouldn't have been his familys' first choice, they would've preferred a young virgin. But the reasons that they wouldn't choose me are the reasons we work! I'm a good mum, I don't treat his children any different, because I'm already maternal and I don't see them as a threat, I see their needs. And I know how to please him because I'm not a complete novice! In Islam we are told marry like for like. And I've seen first hand that works and I've seen when divorced men/women marry Virgins it doesn't always work and there's sometimes (not always) heartache, jealousy and drama when more kids come along.

You cannot just rely on preordained nature and not take "free will" into consideration as well. Allah already knows what will happen, I DO NOT. Let me use my intellect to make my future positive since I have a freewill. If I keep on thinking "Allah may have chosen a person for me who has a promiscuous past given the situation/state of the world, hence I HAVE NOTHING on my part to avert that since ALLAH HAS PREORDAINED it". (Think of it this way, if someone is a nonmuslim and knows the punishment for the nonmuslims in the hereafter is Jahannam, they might just consider being a nonmuslim forever as they might think Allah PREORDAINED THEIR FATE to be nonmuslims to begin with, so why bother. "not realizing they have *freewill* to become a Muslim during their lifetime and prevent receiving the punishment") I do not know who Allah has selected for me, but rest assured I will do my very best to find out the person who I will marry DOES NOT HAVE a past that I will inevitablty regret after marriage! Even after all my effort, if Allah still wanted me to have that fate in future, then surely it is what Allah wanted best for me! WHY DID ALLAH MENTIONED IT AS SUCH?!! WHY THERE IS PUNISHMENT FOR THE ONE WHO ACCUSES A WOMEN OF ZINA?!!! it should be and stay very very important. not as you say we are wrong to think that. THAT's why we pay mahr. that's why non-muslims guys have hard time to get a girl to sleep with him. because IT HAS value. she wouldn't give it easily. why?? Zina hapens only when a girl gives green light. Otherwise never. or by force. Also, men can do things without much emotion or passion but when a girl does it means something for them. It means a lot. I can't believe i'm explaining this. What is the most important thing in a girl?....Is it the same as men?!!!! I'm not saying don't forgive. But never ever assume or say or think its the same!!! I'm a revert to Islam. Alhumdulilah, my husband still decided to marry me despite my past prior to Islam. I never went into detail with it but spoke in general terms and he has never asked me to elaborate. So, I would never tell him "Oh, when I dated so-and-so" or "I did this and that." I wanted him to know before he decided to propose but now that we're married, I never bring up my past again because I don't want to rub his nose in it or have him think of me differently. The way he sees me now is based on our 17-year marriage, Alhumdulilah. I'm glad that he gave me the chance despite our pasts being diametrically opposed, as he was perfectly chaste and from a culture where purity tends to be a dealbreaker, masha'Allah. Some men can see past it, though I think it's up to them just like it's up to women to decide what they want or will accept in a spouse. If a spouse with a past gets married, please be honest with each other up front but never bring it up again. But I accept that it does matter to many people. I don't think we should be disclosing our sins in detail but honestly is important when someone is selecting a spouse.

I have a suggestion to make the show less chaotic and more fruitful. Instead of offering a topic for discussion and having everyone state their opinion (takes a lot of time and people keep talking over each other), there should be a set of questions prepared before hand that people answer and based on their answers you can draw conclusions or ask them for further elaborate. I believe this will lessen the time where people overtalk each other and also lessen the time people take to fully explain their position (which sometimes goes off topic and you divert to other topics and waste time there). Great show btw may Allah reward you all for this.

So in a scenario like this that’s the type of thing to be hidden : Asking about the sister or brother's past is important. There was a divorced sister who had 12 year old girl. The sister got married to a good muslim man. After 6 months the sister finds out that her husband was accused of harassing young girls sexually multiple times. The sister confronted the husband and the husband said that "I have repented for my past mistakes" My question is, Do you think after this scenario, the sister will trust her husband to be close to her 12 year old child despite his repentance?

It matters for both parties. In my view, a man and a woman both can hold their partners upto their standard. What I mean by this is that if you have been sleeping around, you shouldn't expect your future spouse to be a pure virgin. Same if you are a virgin, you have the right to decline purely because the other side had lost their virginity before marriage. Converts should be given leeway. Allah knows best. السلام لکم.

It's between me and allah , she repented she is clear, there is no way I'm going to marry her. I as woman did not want a spouse who was not virgin, not because they lacked piety, its just that if I kept myself away from men, I expect to have a virgin like myself. Non virgins are harder to please in theory. Like my husband says if you only tried one biryani, thats your favorite biryani but if tried variety you find hard to feel satisfied with that same biryani... I was one who just cannot stand the idea, that many tried my husband out, and has memories of him physically...its off putting for me. Its like thinking you bought a a brand new Ferari then finding out its a second hand and done allot of mileage....regardless of the amazing condition and still going strong. I know spouses are not products but I like to get the best deal...maybe its my psychological flawed thinking but I cannot get over it...better that I do not know. If the persons was a convert then I find its ok they had a past, its understandable as they had no guidance, but if a born muslim in a muslim family done so, it matters to me, specially from a pakistani upbringing because about 98% of pakistani families whether in pakistan or uk are really conservative, very less liberal families even if less religious, they are still traditional and conservative and have extended families around so if they did something dodgy they were not ignorant or did not know. So my criteria varies depending on background. I like the psychological discipline that comes maintaining virginity when there is soo much nudity out there, I values that and I want some who embodies that to lead me, as I am going place my life in hands and I want make sure he has good judgement in difficult circumstances.

The problem with this conversation is you made it about “virginity” instead of promiscuousness. If a woman lost her virginity in a halal marriage than it shouldn’t matter to Muslim men. Even if they feel a certain way they need to ask themselves “am I going to reject this woman right now just because she did a halal thing, got married, and lawfully had sex with someone else?” Because sadly people in many Muslim cultures look at non-virgins as being tainted which is so sad for women who are windowed/ divorced due to unfortunate circumstances. I have been asked before if I would marry a man who is divorced (no kids) and I have thought to myself “ehhhhhh” but fortunately people around me gave me great advice and made me question why I feel this way. The conclusion was I needed to fight these intrusive thoughts. obviously he lost his virginity in a halal marriage why would I penalise him for that. Muslims need to seriously start thinking about how unhealthy our habits are for our society. It’s so horrible to make women who have lost virginity in previous marriages and god forbid even sexual assault feel like they are inferior. It’s a really simple concept, don’t fault people for things that aren’t their fault. Putting a value on virginity effects all women not just those who has committed sins. Also Ali saying that once a woman commits Zina he’ll never trust her even if she repents is so ridiculous considering he always talks about how he used to party and get girls???😂😂😂😂 that’s called hypocrisy and last time I checked that wasn’t what we were aspiring for as an ummah.

Solution: If a man (or woman) is a virgin and can’t bear to marry someone that has had premarital relationships, Then, during the course of courtship/getting to know eachother, he can say something like this instead of asking her to expose her sin: I have not had any relationships before and am a virgin . And I can’t bear to marry someone that has had a past( premarital relationship ) even though I know Allah forgives all sins. It’s just my preference/weakness. You are a righteous woman and I do not ask you to disclose anything about your past. But if you had a past, I would like you come up with other excuses to end this courtship saying that you don’t think relationship would not work . That way I can’t tell what your reason was and can continue to assume good about you.

I completely agree with you, brother! Thank you for bringing up such an important point. May Allah grant you strength and wisdom to navigate through such obstacles. The essence of Islam lies in our adherence to the Sunnah, and your commitment to marrying a woman older than you or a divorcee, inspired by the Prophet's (pbuh) biography, is a testament to your dedication to Islamic principles. I'm not ashamed to say that we should encourage that kind of mindset. While we do have choices, life's test often lies in aligning our choices with what Allah wants from us. If the Prophet (pbuh) urges us to follow his Sunnah, then it becomes our duty to do so. Instead of advising people to hide their past from their partners, let's encourage both women and men to strive towards the society that the Prophet (pbuh) envisioned. I understand it might be a lot to ask for, but promoting acceptance of polygamy is a step towards realizing the Prophet's (pbuh) teachings. If, during his time, even the best women who truly deserved all the good accepted polygamy, we should strive to be open to it. It might be uncomfortable, but that discomfort that resists is often our own nafs. If a man can love his wives equivalently or at least close to how the Prophet (pbuh) did, isn't that a blessing? Encouraging men and women to make choices that lead us closer to heaven should be our collective goal. Life is short, and it's a test. Allah chose us to be born in this world; therefore, we should strive to make it better, just as it was in the past. Many women and men are reverts who were unaware of the halal or haram aspects of their past. It's challenging for them to find suitable marriages. Repentance and developing a beautiful character, as exemplified by the companions and wives of the Prophet (pbuh) who were reverts, should be our focus. The Prophet (pbuh) said, "Follow my Sunnah," and it's in these teachings that we find the path to righteousness.

This is our worst nightmare: Zaani brothers looking for chaste sisters, that lowers the pool of chaste sisters and so righteous brothers will be seeking in the unknown pond of mixed chaste and zaani sisters. So unless the zaanis pair up, some of the chaste ones will be paired with the zaanis😭. Zaani brothers pls pick your zaani sisters, so we can have clean ponds pls❤️
