You forgot that in 2016 LH had many reliability in Qualifies that forced him to have grid penalties or even start from last. I believe it was 4-5 races that he couldnt start from his position. Also, he changed for new engines in Belgium and the Malasya race it was a brand new one. That engine failure was absurd and smell like sabotage. He would have destroyed Rosberg if he didnt had any issues.

Issue is that Rosberg always raced with Monaco flag until he got into F1, but changed because he knew it would boost his chances. It is also rumoured that he bribed some of the staff to get them on his side. In 16, all the best engg, mechs and etc were at his side of the garage, which let LH with the rookies and unprepared. Also, it is confirmed that LH used a special kind of oil in Malaysia that they only used on that race, to boost his engine, which was brand new, but failed. I believe he was sabotaged that year up. In 17 they wouldnt and thats why Rosberg retired. Toto got to sign Bottas and make extra money (he was his manager) and Mercs got a "German" champion.

It's so amazing to me that people are so eager to claim he hasn't had competitive teammates. He's had three drivers who either have been or went on to be champions, and he is now willingly going to a team with a driver who is homegrown from their academy and clearly someone they are not going to ask to move over for him on a level playing field. In contrast, Verstappen and Schumacher both had sets of teammates who were never going to fight them during their years at the top. Also, if you claim Lewis Hamilton dominated 2014 and 2015, then you have to concede that Ayrton Senna dominated 1988 even though he had a teammate fighting with him for the title. This is actually quite an easy question to answer. The strong dislike is a psychological response to the fanatical insanity displayed by many of Lewis' most dedicated fans. It has an escalating effect on the opposing groups. You'll notice that some drivers produce neither a fervent love or hate. Prost is a good example of this. Nobody has particularly strong feelings about him, whereas any driver with a cult type fanbase (ie. Hamilton, Schumacher, Verstappen, etc) produces a psychological backlash as a direct result of their behavior. It's really quite fascinating to study.

Alot of hate seems to come from max fans that try to deminish LH to make max look bigger than he is, max is good dont get me wrong and breaks records too but they only want to get rid of hamilton so that max can be the best in the sport today. Thing is LH will retire as the GOAT and no one can do anything about it, only if someone in the sport breaks all LH records after hes gone they can then be considered the goat, its a long road though. The 2016 season Hamilton had brake issues, they kept going from Brembo to another maker including his 35G impact during qualifying when they disintegrated.
