guys every 2 stroke makes this sound. in a 4 stroke this would be detonation or pinging. in a 2 stroke we know this is it making power. its the expansion chamber pinging during secondary combustion.

Check rings by putting them in your cylinder and use your gages and check it and piston could be a piston slap. When you rev it you don’t hear it as much but when it idles you do. My 2000 yz250 is doing the same thing did a complete rebuild and I noticed. It’s definitely not your bearings you would hear it big time top-end for sure could be wrong
