It’s actually the high pressure fuel injection pump and the reason you hear it is these engines are super quiet
@landybob8393 Жыл бұрын
Sorry but that’s not what it is. It’s broken rocker arms. I can say this because I heard the sound for a year then after replacing injectors we removed valve covers and found three broken rocker arms. Truck hasn’t made that sound since. If you remove the valve covers you’ll see a few push rods sticking up past the rocker arms

Both wrong, the typewriter noise is the rear crank thrust washer. It sits in between the crank and block with play, which is why the sound is random. It's a non-issue.

Why is it related to oil change if it’s a thrust washer? And if you say it has nothing to do with the oil change you are wrong as it is proven by many, many people that when you change your oil is when it’s at its worst?

The answer you provide is the “Ford” keep the customers quiet answer. The fact of the matter , the actual cause is as follows. This type writer sound is reported by folks who change their oil, why? New oil has no soot . In old oil, the soot is carried by the oil thru out the engine. The rocker tips are spray lubed by a cross pipe and the soot in the oil a tank like a cushion so that when the rocker tips hit, the sound is muffled. New oil has not soot. The oil spray leaves only a thin film, and when the rocker tips hit, you get the sound. After a few hundred miles, the soot builds back up, and the rocker tips have the soot cushion that keeps the tips quiet. The Ford answer about geometric alignment of this and that does not e plain the oil change factor and that’s why we call bs on that explanation.

Dude, if you're going to make a video about engine noise and the truck is sitting behind you, start the thing up so we can hear it. Probably the reason why you have so many thumbs down. Capiche? I wouldn't get a Powerstroke if it was given to me. I have a F350 regular cab Dually, with the 6.2 gasser, and it's great. Of course Ford will claim it's not a serious issue, replacing or repairing all Powerstrokes would put them under that much faster. A friend of mine has a 2017 F450 with the 6.7, uses it for towing a lot, and is already on his second engine, and it too is making the same ticking noise as the first engine. I always had Ford pickups, as a matter of fact I did a number of life changing firsts in my '68 F100 if you know what I mean, but I would never get a Ford diesel. Doesn’t bog down and my truck never redlines or border redlines. Then again, I’m never trying to race anyone or get crazy with my truck. I just use it for daily work and pulling. A few months ago I did make a 4 day run from South Florida to Northern Vermont and that’s well over 3000 miles. It's interesting that you mentioned the dealership put the wrong oil in, I specifically asked the dealership if they put 10w-30 in and they said yes, called them a couple days later (when this noise surfaced) and asked them if they are sure, they said they will change it again, so I asked for an oil sample, and they forgot, and they are trying to blame it on a tune I put on it a 1,000 miles ago. They said you're not under warranty, I said I am aware of that, I said, but if you put 15w-40 in it that's not a warranty issue, it's a dealership screw up. So I am sure they intentionally didn't give me a sample. Did you have your oil tested, and did it eventually screw up the cam?

@@jeffhammond8758 I didn’t request a sample, however after FCA/Cummins figured out the cause I went back to the previous service records and it stated “serviced with 15W40”

I just went through my service records and at the end of July 2021, the dealership had on record putting 15w-40 in my truck, I went 5,000 miles on it. I called them today and they now want to take a look at it, only problem is 1,000 miles ago I put it on a diet. So, this will get interesting, they admitted they screwed up, but they also know my truck's been modified (these mods in no way are going to affect my hydraulic lifters.

Yo! ITS A DIESEL! Despite pilot injection strategies no freaking diesel or internal combustion engine is going to be QUIET! A gasser I can understand if it makes a weird noise, but you wasted your time and people's time because it. Is. A. FREAKING TURBODIESEL! I've had 7.3 PSDs and you would not be able to stand the clatter. I truck for a living. You need to apologize for starting mess with an engine that clatters! And yes, I drive a 2019 PSD.

The reason our trucks sound like something a soyboy should be driving is do to our lovely Jackoffs from the EPA ! Too much unnecessary BS on these trucks anymore ! I group up in south Louisiana where the Mississippi River is lined with chemical plants. I’m SURE all the smoke and discharge you see from these plants are EPA friendly !
