Aluminum made radiator is poor at dissipating and heat transference. Technical proven Research has proved that copper and brass far exceed that of aluminium. Plus aluminum radiators cannot be repaired if they develop a leak.

Good information. I came here about the extra ports, concerned about them as I need a new radiator for my standard transmission vehicle and all of the replacement radiators on E-bay have the ports for auto trannies.. Now I will order one. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and informing us all!

Thanks a million mate. That saved me doing stupid things to my replacement radiator. I thought they were part of the exfill tank and needed to be sealed. My car repairs cost me $75 doing it myself vs about $250-300 to have it done at a mechanic. So even though I'm in a different country, your knowledge was able to help me get my car back on the road without high expense and hassle. This was a very helpful video for me. Cheers. Ps... You also convinced me to neaten out the flattened fins (less than 1%) just to maximise airflow.

Got a champion radiator... same thing with the trans line ports. Thanks for the simple video, really had me worried I’d have to find some weird plugs!

Can i cap the hole underneath the radiator cap? The location of mine is on the other side of the radiator but it's not the drain. I installed a new radiator and noticed water would come out of it when i flushed it. I compared it to my old one, and it doesn't have that port.

And plastic is cheaper. They fail more often then the old school copper radiators. I've had all my vehicles fail starting at about 125,000 miles.95 honda odyssey went 1st replaced with a coppet radiater about 15 years ago now has 300,000 miles plus some. 99 toyota rav replaced with a denso radiator. Last was a 2006 subie sti which failed at 105,000 miles replaced with a koyorad all aluminium racing radiater.

Great video, just to clarify, so since my replacement radiator came with coolant lines and my current radiator does not have those ports, I can just leave them open as they are, no need to do anything with them?

Since usually the thermostats opens at 82 degrees . How does the temperature sensor of radiator knows when to turn on the fan .. how does it time it so accurately or it doesn’t, the fan turns on automatically and independently when the water temperature reaches a certain point..?? I am co fused.
@Museakasatan14 жыл бұрын
Clutch fans usually hace a temperatura sensor that triggers the fans to activate.
@mridware96944 жыл бұрын
Fan are controlled by temperature sensor, when water reach 96°C and enters the radiator then fan runs on full blast and thermostat is on other side to restrict the flow of water if temperature is below 82°C

I have the opposite problem. My new radiator has an extra inlet/outlet that a smaller hose would go on. Its in the same place as it is on my old radiator but my old one was capped/sealed. The new one isn't and didn't come with a plug

Excellent. To the point. Ive been looking for the reason why my new Specter cu162 has 2 overflows below the cap..the larger one came with a rubber cap that cracked n leaked coolant needs replaced but was looking around to see if it could also be used for a heater hose also idk yet..more parts to fail.

So, a leak in the transmission tube inside the radiator would explain the trans fluid in my coolant. How would a separate transmission cooler work if it isn’t getting cooled with coolant? Just from the fins?

I’m a year late to this video. But let’s say I got a radiator for a 02 Silverado from a another Silverado 99-06 (not sure of exact year) but it’s missing a hole for the coolant line that passes through throttle body. Could I remove the tank from my original and place it on the one I got and it work fine? They are the same size. Just curious before I experiment lol
