The nerf to the passive was the nail in the coffin. I understand the damage nerfs as it’s a defender it wasn’t meant to be doing that much damage anyway. However nerfing its bulk was unnecessary. I also think this game does a poor job at explaining a Pokémon’s role. The current roles are too vague, when you compare this to the classification in games like Honor of Kings for example, it’s very basic. Mr. Mime for example should be labelled “Crowd Control Support”. Whereas Lapras could be labelled “Initiator tank”. Hence why it was probably doing a lot of damage on release because that’s what it was designed to be. EDIT: Clarity

Lapras has been collecting dust since lots of old nerfs affected him so much. He needs a buff to it's stats, water pulse, bubble beam, perish song, ice beam, and it's unite move. (Which looks like sun ce) But not overboarding him much.

@@Maaarrrrk but Where's water pulse? Water pulse is one who defined the golden Lapras meta before it's nerfs. Water pulse Lapras needs some love while perish song needs some buffs a little but not overboarding just I said

I don't know. I know it's a tank but it just feels like it doesn't do much for me anymore ever since it's damage nerfs from long ago. Maybe it's probably because im not full investing items for damage, idk. I guess I just don't find it appealing as much now.

I miss old Lapras so much. The nerf it got before the last one was great, but then the final one it got killed it. Idc about damage its defenses need to buffed. Cris arent you the one who basically begged for Lapras nerfs to begin with?

Yeah because it did need nerfed that long ago? Lapras was literally broken in every possible and then they nerfed it way too much. He's allowed to complain when they went overboard on something as they usually do AND not want it to be as broken as it as back then. Multiple things can be true at once

I got my golden badge on Lapras. I notice that people don't know how to use Lapras. The amount of times i say "they going bottom" only to be wrong and just unite them from the back in seconds across the stage is just delicious. They never see it coming

Lapras is probably my favorite defender but it’s such a shame they borderline gutted her defenses. I hardly see her anymore it’s like they’re endangered again 😢 Any buffs/changes anyone wants to suggest for Lapras? I honestly would love if they changed Ice Beam to where if Lapras is on top of the frozen zone she gains increased defenses instead of the unnoticeable movement speed buff

I only play one defender, and that's always Lapras, otw i enjoy supporters/allrounder. But my Lapras wr is the highest 70% with 300+ games lol, even higher than my allrounders. It does deserves it defences back tho, that was just an unreasonable nerf on a defender. Cut the dmg, not the bulk

I really don't think Lapras is good at all tbh I've tried to make it work many times post nerf and it's just not worth it You're building full damage to do some average damage of other Defenders without damage items, and you're not tanky enough to be a Defender that way. And even full Defender build feels weak

Playing Lapras in a stack with machamp carried my team through our scrims but in solo q it’s a wasted slot ngl. You’d be better off playing a defender that can reliably solo carry a lane like umbreon/tree/ho-oh or slowbro.

Lapras is actually pretty weird. It’s a strange combination of “I love this Pokemon and want it to do well” but I know that buffing it anymore than it is now will probably break it again (it fricking took a tiny ice beam damage nerf to lower its win rate :P). But hey, if urshifu is back (and it actually hasn’t been that bad) I wouldn’t mind seeing urshifu return

I’ve honestly been playing more Lapras whenever my team needs a defender, it’s pretty fun and I get good results with it, I’m not really sure if it needs a lot of buffs or anything, maybe Perish Song could be a bit stronger since Water Pulse just outperforms it all the time but I honestly feel like it’s in a pretty good spot and it’s perfectly viable if you want to use it.

Yeah Lapras and Goodra are the main defenders I can’t run exp share on anymore. Seems like it hinders their full potential and makes them do less.

This video got my hopes up as I loved playing Lapras, but based off of all the comments I’ve seen… I’m still better off with Mamoswine. I really hope that they will FINALLY buff Lapras & Goodra soon, but I’m not holding my breath as it’s very clear that the Attackers & All-Rounders are the favorites of not just the players but also the devs.

Lapras is hard to balance. Its basic abilities are less useful than other defenders so you have to impact off of your unite move. Instead I can make high impact plays with other defenders basic abilities with much lower cooldowns than a unite move. It seems to me Lapras was designed to be a top lane carry not a traditional tank. However with weaker damage it is underwhelming and with its old damage it’s overpowered.
