Hi! I just found your channel this morning (it's 7am iny part of Texas). This is my first video of yours and I wanted to take a moment to say thank you because it was hugely informative and very helpful to me. You do an excellent job of presenting the information that you have. I appreciate that and I appreciate the time that you take to put these videos together for us. I appreciate that you are willing to pass on the knowledge and experience you have gained to anyone who wants to learn. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go binge your channel now because honestly I have nothing else to do today besides paint and watch KZbin. Bye!

Great video mate! I live in a hot Mediterranean country in Europe and we currently have thirty-five to thirty-eight degrees Celsius heat out here, leaving my paintings out in the sun all day also evaporates the moisture from the paint, leaving the base minerals dehydrated and crap. I have found that it's best to leave it on a table in the shade and let the gentle breeze dry it in 48 hours. The paints are middle of the range quality, and I've never blamed the paint themselves, it was all about finding the best medium to dry and finish the piece without having any imperfections and spoils.
@GeePours Жыл бұрын
Hello from the other side of the Mediterranean 😄 yeah the heat’s a killer right now - between that and the humidity - nothing on a canvas behaves properly😂

Thank you. I had one crack on me just last night. I paint in my garage which I have air condition and a fan that I just realized is pointed right where i paint. Very good possibility that is why. Thank you. Very great info. ❤

No one ever thinks it could be the fan, but thats usually the culprit 9 times out of 10 😅 thanks for watching, Kristey!

I do acrylic pouring and when using Liquitex Pouring Media, my paint ALWAYS cracks 😡. I don’t have that problem with any other medium
@reshuhk9 ай бұрын
Thank you this is really helpful as I was looking for the reasons why the acrylic paint cracked within an hour or two or painting it… Will adding varnish sooner will prevent the paint from cracking?
@GeePours9 ай бұрын
No paint thats cracking that fast is definitely not okay. Are you using glue as your medium?
@reshuhk8 ай бұрын
@@GeePours no dear not using glue, just acrylic paint, I tried to use the techniques of keeping the canvas in a box to avoid moisture and direct AC. It still cracked.
@GeePours8 ай бұрын
@@reshuhk you’re not using any pouring medium? Just water? If so, you need to be using good quality acrylics, because budget brands can’t handle that

very nice, and informative. i paint in the garage in arizona. no fan,and i pour at night, but it still warm. can this present a problem?
@GeePours2 жыл бұрын
Warm will make most of your materials slightly less thick, but not problematic. You can account for it by adjusting your ratios a little, but a breeze or fan is a much bigger issue
@MamaPinks2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I'm new here😊! Great video, this issue is popping up on both my thinner pours and my thicker pours. I think it's the room I'm in, uneven drying, and too much Silicone. I just started so, I don't have any bad habits started, . . . . yet🙃 I'll be back! Subscribed for now! 😉

Hello Sir I hope this message find you well I use gesso and my canvas is cracking ,can you please tell me how to fix this , It's very helpful if you suggest something. Thank you
@GeePours Жыл бұрын
If the gesso itself is cracking then you’re applying it too thick. Gesso is primer. You brush it on really thin, wait for it to dry and repeat. I like to do three layers of gesso and then I give it a fine sanding to get a smooth canvas
@bhawanakumari2321 Жыл бұрын
@@GeePours Thank you for your reply, should I remove a cracking surface first and then apply a thin layer of gesso ? Thank you for sharing your knowledge ,

I normally paint with acrylic paint and then i use a posca marker on top for outlines, but it always seems to crack where I apply the marker. I don’t know why it happens. Can Anyone help me with tips?
@GeePours Жыл бұрын
How long do you wait before painting over? This can happen when the first layer of acrylic hasn’t fully cured.

@GeePours3 ай бұрын
1. Im an OP fan too! 2. Im not sure I understand what you wanted to see - there’s no fix for a painting that already cracked. You can only prevent it from happening in the first place - which is what this video is about. Its to help you identify what could be causing the problem.
