Why Does Steven Universe Have A New Voice?

Steven Universe has a new voice. Cartoon Network characters like Finn and Jake or Tom and Jerry are appearing in Multiversus (the Smash-Bros-like fighting game) along with Steven Universe! This time around, however, Zach Callison will not be voicing him. What's going on?

I think he sounds good so far, but what matters most is that Zach gets the rest he needs. I hope the new voice actor can fill in his shoes! Also, fun fact: Zach Callison did his own original album a few years back and even got Connie’s VA to sing with him! It’s a really good album, and it’s definitely worth a listen!

It just occurred to me that Zach is a LOT like steven in a way. In future, Steven's mental health was NOT ok. As time went on, it got much worse until he had his mental breakdown. Let's hope Zach doesn't have HIS mental breakdown.

A lot of the time VAs don’t return for video game adaptations of their character, so it’s not much of a surprise that Zach didn’t return along with the fact that he simply needs a break. Zach was extremely busy during the duration of SU and SUF, he was also working on a musical piece and various Podcasts and meetups. Let’s hope he is doing well and congratulate the new VA

I get Zach to a major degree. Self mental care is often taken for granted, trust me I know. It's easy to fall into that trap of "I need to do these things" and get yourself so burned out or depressed that nothing feels good anymore. I hope Zach feels better eventually and I am glad he's taking those steps to help himself.

It’s sad how steven’s voice actor had to be changed but if it’s for the greater good, then it’s alright. Steven’s voice sounds odd though, he sounds like a stereotypical teenager, but it’s nice to see that steven universe still matters to Cartoon Network.

It doesnt matter that Zach isnt voicing him, thats ok. His mental health is MUCH more important than any of this, thats undisputed. However- This new dudes voice doesnt fit as well as it could. Ive heard tons of impressions from fans that would fit better. I honestly feel and think that Cougar Macdowell would be a better voice actor for Steven in this game, and in any future project. He sounds almost exactly like Steven, just a little more grown up, which makes sense, Since Steven would technically be about 18 or 19 years old now. Im sure he could make the voice sound younger for Steven. Im boutta start a whole ass petition to get the voice actor changed-

It’s also like , I’m sure Zach is tired of playing Steven he’s mostly known for that and I bet he wants to also be known for his other things such as his music career,(go stream apphh) and his roles in other shows and movies! But other then that it’s probably because of mental health and it’s very sad that he’s been off everything for a while but I’m sure he will come back at some point :) hopefully his mental health gets better and he comes back ! I agree with this. I mean sure we are all used to Zach being Steven, but if he needs a break for his mental health's sake, that's cool. As a person who once dealt with depression, I can understand how important mental health can be. The new guy will more than likely do a good job, at least based on the small clip I saw. It's kind of like how they replaced Adam Sandler as the voice of Dracula in the upcoming Hotel Transylvania movie. We are used to the character having a certain voice, but the replacement will more than likely do a good job.
