The first and only negative feedback I've seen about this game was on the Steam community page for the demo, and appears to be the concerted effort of a single person who most likely doesn't really play fighting games (upset about planned character DLC, etc.). It's truly astounding how good this game is shaping up to be.

People complaining about DLC really make no sense to me. Street fighter has always released multiple versions of the same game with updates and new characters. In terms of DLC, it's just the same thing but with more service to the game over time. In reality, we're paying less for more

@@qmanchu Some gamers adopted pro-consumer talking points, without understanding the talking points first. So they're often always just coming from a black and white perspective where everything a game studio does is out of evil and malice for the consumer, and there's no gray areas or justification for anything ever, lol.

I think the only two complaints I've seen period from people who are actually gonna play long term are concerns regarding the strength of modern controls, and initial concerns with drive impact (which have since subsided). We're definitely headed into a new golden age for Street Fighter.

I keep thinking that this is all a dream with how incredible SF6 is, like these are the same guys behind the disaster that was SFV, right? In all seriousness, great video! I think this does a really great job explaining why me and pretty much everyone else is so hyped for SF6. I think the aspect of "character" is the most important to me. This game just has so much style in everything, the character design, the stages, animations, music, even the UI. It really stands out among other games.

These are the guys who saved SFV actually. The creative director of SFV, Ono had some weird ideas for what he wanted 5 to be and 6 was supposed to be even weirder. Luckily, these new dudes took control towards the end of SFV took the reigns on SF6. 6 was probably supposed to release earlier but they had to basically start the creative process from the ground up after Ono left
@ep2524
@ep2524 Жыл бұрын
While it's correct that producer Shuhei Matsumoto took over after Ono left, Takayuki Nakayama has been credited as chief director for SFV since 2016. Also a thing to note: Yoshinori Ono's role in the last 2 street fighter games is executive producer, not creative director. To be fair, from what i understand the position of producer in the capcom team holds more creative power compared to other developers.

I decided to try out the demo because of the recommendation you gave me of having sf6 being a good first fighting game to get into and I really enjoyed how it felt, I like the multiple control options and if I’m honest I probably should be using modern at first but something about learning the classic controls seems right to me and better to learn now rather than later (I would be interested in hearing anyone’s opinions on this) I’ve watched quite a few videos on fighting games in the past days and really liked the idea of getting an arcadestick since it seemed fun and to me it seemed easier to be able to use my hand in a more open manner with the button inputs since I preferred using keyboard rather than a controller because it’s kinda like a hit box anyways so I’m really excited for when it arrives. I hope this can be something I can stick with and genuinely learn how to do well. It’s thanks to your videos that I even got this urge to try fighting games so I would like to thank you for that and I hope to watch more of your videos and watch you grow and spread your love of fighting games to people like me :)

I am new in street fighter, fighting games were never my thing but since its release last week I spent a lot of time grinding and getting to understand Luke, he appealed the most to me because of his attitude and sheer style. After 46 hours, from which around 10 hours were spent in training mode, I faced a diamond Ken in the hub and and lost 6 times in a row, but I managed to defeat him once (and then he beat me again). That sole victory meant a lot to me and the feeling of exhiliration says a lot about how well made this game is. Like everything in life, success is about not giving up despite how many times you are beat, and this game encapsulates this at is very core rewarding you for your dedication

I don't really play fighting games. I've said that I hate fighting games in the past. I bounced off of Injustice, FighterZ, Skull Girls, MVC, MK, SF4 and more. I know now that that was because I was never willing to commit to learning them. But that's the problem. I was looking for a fighting game that would make me care enough. So after seeing how cool all the characters look, world tour, and doing a ton of Ryu/Luke mirror matches I wasn't even planning on. Yeah this is the one. It got me. Everything about it finally made sense to me. I finally looked at the combo guides and said "Hell, I can do that." instead of getting depressed. It just feels right somehow. I can't tell you why that is exactly obviously. But it made me care.

I have played the SF6 beta some and it is just a good fighting game in every way. I never played SF5 because it just doesn't look fun at all; it looks plodding and restrictive. The dev team really nailed this one the game speed feels good, the hits feel impactful, the animations and character designs stand out, the drive system is fun and opens up combat without some one touch kill nonsense, and the modern control system makes it easy to get into the game. I haven't purchased a street fighter title in a long time but I'll be buying this one.

I've been out of fighting games for over a decade, having spent a massive part of my youth winning money and game rewards in amateur meetups. Mortal Kombat's direction when they went 3D never interested me, so I didn't experience that singleplayer focus. Having casually followed SF at a distance, the new gameplay systems are a positive in my book, but it is World Tour that *absolutely* was a title seller for me. Singleplayer service with day 1 integrated online functionality (though I really think they need to expand on this with some co-op, since they already have Dramatic Battle tech built in), and the ability to completely create your own character from the ground up, and gamifying your access to customized, cherry-picked abilities feels like a page straight out of the US game dev playbook, and I could not be more happy about it. The last time I saw meaningful character creation in a fighter was Soul Calibur, which was amusing, but didn't quite grab me. And while I would like to have seen a bit better faces and less restrictions on height for World Tour, it's still really good for their first attempt at it. Here's hoping all their nickle & diming DLC nonsense will pay for further content and refinements.

the choice of a tool or talent in the begining of a game work much better in multiplayer games. Because there is way more variables to influence wich one would be better. starting with the fact that no character should fill all roles and have all incompensating utilities. so by default you need to build a team based on what work together. but sometime the enemy team has combinaisosnt that work well against some choices you make, and not aainst others. While in a 1v1 game. one choice give you more tools, while the other give you less. and you are only choosing based on pure knowledge of your skill and matchup (so pretty binary.) this also shows complexity is mutch more varied than just more stuff thrown into a game. Because fighting games are arguably more complex than most team based games. but the complexity of choosing a team, on a certain map, etc etc, make even more choice actualy impactfull. And what if it is actualy the same in fighting games. the more choice you make throughout a game. the more likely you get to choices you couldnt have possibly thinked about. showing again that you can get to the same complexity level, with really diffrent tools. and thoses different tools dont translate that well from genre to genre.

Something like 10 hours of Luke punching Ryu in his stupid Ryu face here, and I'll never play him again post launch. It feels so much more intuitive to just play and figure out how things can connect than SFV ever did, instead of just looking for the one normal your combos could start off. The meter changes are so huge and play back into the variety of choices and options you have, plus the whole risk reward nature of the drive gauge. Really feels more like KoF in they want you using your EX moves and supers and all the fun and flashy stuff constantly, instead of having to more choose between them. There's so many things you can point to that feel fresh and exciting, but the biggest thing is probably that for the first time in a while it feels like they actually just took everything that sounded like it would be fun and threw it into the pot.

The bit about choice has resonated strongly in me, I remember not liking the whole variation system thing in MKX for the very same reason. I'd rather have all my options available all the time and have to figure out which one I need on my own instead of the game limiting me arbitrarily. It was also why KI 2013 was so awesome: each character has tons of useful tools that you don't necessarily have to use all the time to succeed, which is a breeding ground to enable you to play each character in tons of different ways. You could always tell apart, say, Letalis' Aganos from Banelings' or Nightslash's, whereas in MKX it almost always felt like you had to play each character in a very specific way unless you wanted to get cooked.

I would tend to disagree about the OST of SF6, it's by far its weakest part (some themes are nice, hopefully), and it can't be compared to the one from Guilty Gear which is a licence well known for having one of the best OST amont all fighting games (and older SF OST was awesome too). I hope they will do like Guilty Gear or DOA where you can completely decide what OST is played during a fight, even among the old OST from their previous games.

@@notproductiveproductions3504 Drive Impact looks a lot like Break Blow from DOA (a lot more than the comparison with DBFZ). another thing I would like to add to this awesome breakdown is in the "Identity" portion. I think that SFVI's roster has identity and uniqueness but the other part of that is the player identity will be back 0n full display I think . That was one thing SFIV did right that SFV kinda lacked (IMO). In 4 you could almost recognize a player by not only the character they chose but how they played said character. like Smug's Dudley, Daigo's Ryu, Mark Teddy's Guy, or even Sakonoko's Cammy. I feel 6 has a chance to recapture that player identity with how open - ended the OD system is with combos and tactics.

v trigger is not the illusion of choice. the illusion of choice would be to be able to pick one and both lead to the same result. you choose something and it has an impact on the upcoming match. it's the same with character choices, so by your logic, picking a character eliminates the other characters and therefore their options and would be an illusion of choice. the problem in sf5 are dynamic choices, which is what you are talking about and you are right ofc. while i chose a v trigger, i do restrict myself to certain combo-routs, as you said, but i am not playing for the menu screen. i am playing for the matches and this is where the decision making should happen. picking your v trigger on the fly and being able to choose again and again during a match would make it more dynamic and interesting during the part of the game we care about

Since I love defensive characters I love the universal parry. Since I love multiple versions of one move, like Guilty Gear and BlazBlue have, I love that this is now much more intergrated here as well and it still has the great world and legendary characters in a new beautiful design and at the moment I'm only thinking of the (traditional) fighting ground, as it's titled now, and there's still so much more in that beast of a game with so many small details they thought of. As a guy who turned 40 this year, SF6 makes me feel the way I did as a kid seeing the SF2 arcade for the first time. I really feel SF6 is going to be amazing and I can't wait until tomorrow!

I am not massively into fighting games, I play them every now and then, and I enjoy them, but never on a really deep level. But Street Fighter 6? Oh, man, everything just works for me with this game. I preordered it after I played the (very short) demo, because that already sold me on it.

One word. Fun. Too many games are missing the fun aspect. They are designed to look good or give you so many hours of content without any regard for actual entertainment.

i know Capcom loves goofy NPCs, but for the love of God, i hope they stopped putting them in actual stages. The Lair of the Four Kings in SFV was such a nice concept, ruined by the goofy ninja chased by a goofy robot.

I felt so burned by Capcom after buying SFV at launch that I swore I was done with them, but the hype got to me and man I’m glad it did. Street Fighter 6 is a masterpiece. To finally get a Street Fighter game with the same love and attention to single player content that NRS gives to Mortal Kombat is just amazing. I am so hooked on World Tour mode that I haven’t even tried Arcade mode yet.

Great video. Unfortunately, I think one of your statements was incorrect. I'm not sure where you heard that John and Joan Cusack were the inspiration for Blanka's character design. That is kind of ridiculous, considering that they weren't even born until 2001, 5 years AFTER street fighter 1 came out. Now, take a look at the Cusacks... really visualize this: take Joan and put her on John's shoulder... this would create a super Cusack of some sort, but in game canon we throw a trench coat on them, and we call this abomination G! G stands for Genetic Diversity. It's an inside joke about how they are twins. Not tryna start anything, just wanted to point that out and maybe teach a few people something new about the game's we love. Keep it up!

So far I only have a brief experience with fighting games, I like Guilty Gear Strives aesthetic and characters, but the online mode is really not that good for beginners, there is simply no one playing on the lower levels And Street Fighter V is ok but also not sp accessible. But I am insanely excited for SF6, it has so many positive changes and just so many great modes and opportunities to improve with just playing the game (world tour is great to work on the mechanics before jumping into online) and I am really looking forward to it

You know, Street Fighter is not a stranger to some of the most goofiest cast Ive ever seen. Sodom, hakan, FANG to name a few But dear lord, even the goofballs like honda in this game looks so cool and strong that I kept on wondering hows that possible A good example is Deejay; what started out as a Guile clone and have the most barebones party goer from Jamaica attitude turned into one of the coolest characters Ive ever seen. . . and he doesnt play like Guile anymore! The Glow Up these character went through was so unreal that I am excited what the future DLC will have. Imagine Necro? C.Viper? Makoto? Remy and Alex? In SF6? Unreal hype there
