that's actually an excellent idea. those airlines that have screens should have at least some of such videos available for watching onboard.
@W0Ndr3y7 жыл бұрын
they do not, because they do not want to talk about the plane accidents just before the flight so people wouldn't freak out. If you are just told to put the table up, it is less stresfull than being told that if you will not put the table up, the person next to you will burn alive as the plane engines catch fire during take off. Some people are stressed by idea of flying and this would be too much information for them. You and I on the other hand, and many here, are more of the analytic side of things, and value actual information so we would prefer this.
@Engineer97367 жыл бұрын

I can think of several non-safety reasons that having the lights dimmed is better as well. Far easier to see out the window, calmer vibes, less circadian rhythms disruption, much more conducive for passengers who are able to sleep on flights to do so, better able to see city and especially runway/taxiway lighting for the passengers and cabin crew to know they are close to their landing, not to mention the aesthetics, etc. Bright lights in the cabin would feel oppressive, prevent sleep, and wash out any attempts to enjoy the view out the window.

What I’m more impressed with is that a pilot actually took the time learn the how/when/why/whats/ about what we (Flight attendants) are trained to do. Usually they know absolutely NOTHING about what goes on behind their flight deck door. They don’t even know our evacuation commands or where all of our emergency equipment is located let alone how to use any of it.

If you mean before landing, the answer is, so the flight attendants don't have to check the flightdeck in dark. You would not want to check for down positioned "seat-tables" and leftover cups or garbage etc... Also I think they do that to stimulate the passengers. During a flight you can hear the sound of cabin alert (fasten seatbelts) without the signs changing, that is at least i think for stimulate the passengers. So in case of emergency you will be already in an alerted state.

Super & so easily explained.....I really wonder how some passengers can be so not-bothered about other fellow travellers.... so many who have to be TOLD by the Cabin Crew time & again, to Get their Seats Upright & Switch off their Laptops etc. Thanks Capt Joe for this upload. Happy Landings from India.

Why can you not have you phone with cellular data on during flight? Love your videos keep it up
@F_Wagner7 жыл бұрын
Cole Nightingale You can have it on now in most modern planes because everything is shielded from such radiation caused by the phones. But - if you are in an old plane your phone might interact with the navigational instruments or other components of the plane and you might cause a crash. Also important to know: Your phone won’t receive any signal to connect to the outer world simply because cellphone towers are designed to keep the signal concentrated onto the ground and not the air.
@sct9137 жыл бұрын
Because electronic systems that planes rely on, like radio altimeters, navigation receivers, and instrument landing systems (all of which are based on DATA signals received from radio transmitters), are extremely sensitive to spurious radio signals (this sensitivity is so the equipment can operate efficiently on low power and in adverse weather conditions) The majority of people today are too dumb to realize that a cell phone is actually a radio transmitter that not only broadcasts on the intended frequencies, but also sends unintended signals on other frequencies (this is a consequence of making cell phones so small and light - there isn't enough room to install the proper filters to minimize this problem). I don't know about you, but I sure wouldn't want to run the risk of my flight missing the signal from an airport's glide slope receiver or VOR beacon so you can selfishly be able to conduct personal business on your cell phone. And, despite Mr. Wagner's claims to the contrary , while RF shielding on modern plans has improved - especially in recent years, cell phone circuitry has gotten even cheaper in construction., so there is still a risk of RF (radio frequency) interference adversely affecting critical aircraft systems. Because cell phone technology is continually changing, it is impossible for the aircraft manufacturers and airlines to continually evaluate the latest phones to see how using them affects their aircraft. And, with respect, NO cell phone transmission, even if it is only data, is important enough that people have to do it while on board a plane. Most people of the current generation don't realize this, but there was a time where people conducted themselves in public society and places, including flying on planes, without the benefit of cell phones And the fact is that, everybody got along just fine without this "me first" dependence on technology. Captain Joe - feel free to clarify and/or correct me if I've gotten anything totally wrong.

It is quite good to be able to call some authorities on the ground while on the air when the plane is under a hijack as what has happened in the past although...wouldn't really make much difference.
@stressocean.-.60416 жыл бұрын
Cole, Office US PhD my reason is becuz it can block transmitters and the pilots won’t reach ATC tower like what if there was another plane on the runway and now ATC isn’t able to tell them? You can die from a crash of those two planes like the worst air crash in the history of air crashes when two planes crashed bt it wa son the ground one was coming back the other was leaving without telling ATC tower killing everyone in one of the planes and only 66 survivors in the other plane. Be careful

I’ve a great question for you... I saw one of those documentaries about runway emergencies showing several planes making emergency landings. In each case the airport knew the plane was landing under emergency conditions and when the plane touched down it was chased by emergency vehicles down the runway - and when the plane stopped it always took a while for the emergency vehicles to catch up. My question is, do you know why are (at least) some emergency vehicles not already waiting near the end of the runway the plane is likely to stop? Or at least be positioned so they can give chase from somewhere where it would be easier for everyone to time a stop to coincide with where the plane comes to rest? In the programme they were all chasing the planes like they’d been waiting for the landing and the planes always stopped a good 20 seconds or so before the fire trucks arrived, usually accompanied by a voice-over reminding us how valuable every second is.

After the emergency is over, assuming the aircraft survives, all the carryons and checked bags are retrieved by the ground crew and sent to baggage claim. In the event of loss of the aircraft, all the bags become evidence and the passengers are compensated.
