JEM - The Lubavitcher Rebbe

JEM - The Lubavitcher Rebbe

Жыл бұрын

The Talmud relates that Miriam bas Bilga abandoned Judaism, married a gentile Greek officer and accompanied the Greeks as they stormed the Holy Temple. She then went and pounded the Holy Altar with her sandal, crying out: “Wolf, wolf! You consume the Jewish People’s wealth, but you don't answer them in their time of need!” For this latter deed, the Sages punished her entire family. Of what significance was pounding the Altar, compared to her apostasy and intermarriage? Herein lies a profound message: It may appear that a Jew is cut off from everything Jewish... But Torah says: No! What you see is only superficial. The fact remains - he is a Jew. And so his every action, concerns G-d Almighty Himself. Even in the lowest spiritual abyss - even during the act of the sin itself - the soul is bound to G-d. Even after Miriam bas Bilga apostatized, intermarried, and joined the enemy, what was it that bothered her - “Why is the Altar not protecting the Jews?” After all was said and done, she cried out in pain for her fellow Jews. So why does the Talmud tell us this story? Not, G-d forbid, to disparage a Jewess, but to the contrary - to teach us the beauty of a Jew.

When the Rebbe explains something it is very clear. The Rebbe's words are very clear. There is a special continuous flow to the Rebbe's narration - a logical and cohesive development.

This one makes me cry. I’m writing about and for Orthodox feminists who just cannot stay… and this Talmud and this explanation by the Rebbe with Rabbi Kaplan contain within them all of it. And yet, no one seems to understand. Except the Rebbe.

This is great but why do they feel the need to supplement the Rebbe's words with background music.

You know, Greeks never invited to the Holy Table, you know very well, when Alexander the great comes in Jerusalem, a committee from sages expect him out of the wall of the city, because they know from Daniel prophecys what they come, and Alexander never take a single gold coin from the Holy table. Shalom.

I have a Native American Ancestor that was named Mahala Burres. His Niece Married a Man named John, he was the Son of a Spanish woman named Marie Preto ... I love them Eternally, and often make Moccasins in a Pattern from a photo from the 1880's showing a pair worn by My Great Great Grandfather the Reverend John Tansey ... it was common for men to dress as Indians while fighting for Abolition in Indiana. I understand these words so profoundly One Family lost religion in the Spanish Inquisition the other during The Campaign Against the Native Tribes ... I live in New Orleans Louisiana and the other Day I saw a old School friend Sophia Oreck a grand daughter of the Vacuum Cleaner Business Man ... She had several dogs with her ... The Words of this Honest Man are so Profound to a catholic man, as I type this the beauty of the world is so apparent. I asked Sophia, when Was the Last Time You Saw Sophia Oreck? She Happily proclaimed I'm Sophia !!! I smiled and thought to myself, Sophia you see yourself everyday, how good it is to see you. She Couldn't remember my name, I smiled and kept walking with cheer! As a Man Named Samuel Hedden Parker I have learned to hear again. The Words of this Pillar of faith are like the Sweet Sounds of Bees Collecting Honey for a Bountiful Future, be Blessed with love free from wrath. One of Mahala's Children loves you more every day.

Although this young lady converted to paganism she still talked to G-d. By her words it's evident that she assumed G-d is the one with the power to consume the karbanos, or the wealth.

This is so fascinating. I have a question for anyone who knows, please forgive my ignorance here. What is the difference between the Torah and the Talmud?
@breeeegs
@breeeegs 4 ай бұрын
The Torah is made up of two parts, the Written Torah (the Five Books of Moses) and the Oral Torah. Both were transmitted to Moses by G-d at Mount Sinai. The Oral Torah consists of the MIshnah, or the "outline" of the Oral Torah, and the Gemara, which is the commentary on the Mishna by the later Sages (called the Amoraim). Talmud is basically just another name for the Gemara.

Haha - you have no idea what you’re talking about. Less of a storybook and more of your typical 1st year law course. The Talmud is the central text where most Jewish rabbinic laws come from. Read about it, it’s interesting. Im sure you’d love it 😂
