Yesterday we had Bishop Schneider at our parish Star of the Sea in San Francisco. He presented his book "Flee from Heresy " it gives me strength and hope to see a good Bishop fighting for the right doctrine!! Viva Cristo Rey!!

Thank you Padre Peligrino....my Father and Mother told me of the story of Don (King) Pelayo and the Battle of Covadonga, how a small band of warrior Catholic men held out in a mountain and defeated the larger army of the moors. My parents did a pilgrimage there, to Covadonga...I hope I can go there too one day.

Father Nix, I appreciate the historical narrative part of this post as well as how you connect it to the current Passion of our Church. Every time PF opens his mouth it breaks my heart. But I believe God has allowed this pontificate to strengthen our faith. My rosary today will be offered for the safety of the man the left is determined to murder. May Our Lady continue protect and covert him to the true faith. God bless.

Studied abroad in Sevilla for one semester...it was a secular course about "Las Tres Culturas" but it was fascinating to learn how all three interacted with each other. Wish I was Catholic back then to appreciate the culture even more. Also, my host family was culturally Catholic and their children received the sacraments and loved the Semana Santa process, but didn't attend Mass. They were apathetic towards the Church and blamed a lot of stuff on the mid-century ruler who insisted on outdated practices and didn't want to be practicing as an act of rebellion. That's the best way I can describe it. It was a strange mixture to see even as a "faith alone" protestant.

Good video, Padre. KZbin auto deleted my previous post. It probably was too long and algorithm may have picked it up as spam. I never viewed the Reconquista as an 800 year long fight. Putting in that context blew my mind. Boom 💥🤯. Spain gave to the world some incredible things. They were once outstanding horse 🐎 riders. They gave the Filipino Martial Arts Spain's Martial Art of dual sword and knife in opposing hands, in action. Spains Catholic Romani created, played, sang, and danced the Flamenco. In the Great Plains of what is now the USA the Spaniards had to adapt to the high speed maneuver warfare of galloping Comanche warriors. And Queen Isabella was one incredible Queen.

Thank you. Your young audience needs to hear this.. Most schools doubtfully teach about Moors (and who they really are) in Western Civ classes. The students don't know how long the war between the church and the Moors lasted. Sad reality. Thanks again. History is important; the teacher has to make it come alive. God bless.
