Gotta be totally clear here... I really do not hold this against the entirety of the Nigerian people. There's a good chunk of them who are some of the world's kindest people. It just seems that the majority of Nigerians who are "in your face" are giving the rest of the population a bad reputation. Don't think of my experience as "the standard". If you want to visit Nigeria, I encourage you to do so... of course with a few warnings given in this video and the upcoming 2 videos as well. Daalụ enyi!

Your visa experience sounds very familiar. I started trying to get a Nigerian visa, four months before my trip date. Like you, called multiple Nigerian consulate and agencies over weeks and emailed as well, to no avail. It was the most frustrating process that after three months, I started calling my airline to change my flight ticket to a different country and not bother visiting Nigeria. Getting visas to Nigeria is expensive, time consuming and a major headache. Not sure I will put myself through that again.

@ZSS1234Ай бұрын
The issue isn't really about whether you get the visa or not. Listen, if a country government decides they don't want you visiting their country, for whatever reason, that is their right, no issue there. With Nigerian visas, you don't even get to the stage of denial or acceptance. It is lot of run away, no one answers their phones or respond to email. There is no Nigerian consulate anywhere close to me. For me to apply for a Nigerian visa, have to fly myself and my family to another state to apply - air tickets, hotel, car rental, food etc. Ok, that is fine. But with Nigeria, you cant get an appointment to confirm when you can come. You can't get details of what you need to bring with you. The website is always down, so no info there. There is no one to talk to about any of this. I realize there is no guarantee you are given a visa, but other countries, there is at least a reliable process to follow. I just applied for visas to Kenya and India. Both were easy, straightforward and took a few days. With Nigeria, four months later, still cant even get to the application stage

I'm a Lagos resident since almost a decade having grown to young adulthood in Ibadan and honestly confirm the harsh salty interaction with most Lagosians. There's an inherent anger, rush, discontent and sense of unhealthy competition amongst people encountered on daily commute, service desks and other spheres within communities. It might have to do with mental stress due to dissatisfaction with income levels and living costs, but more definitely with general orientation societal disconnect and a lack of communality. However thanks for the expository. I simply find it informative and unbiased.

Air Peace is wild 😂😂😂 Hate to generalise, but I don’t think Nigeria is a real country. Every time I go there there’s drama. Most of it petty. Most of it seemingly designed to extract as much money as possible from my pocket as possible. Doesn’t seem to be a difference whether you pay (just seems to trigger more requests for money) or you don’t (and inconvenience is maximised). Got noticeably worse this year. This year I was asked for an “exit visa” which entirely made up. There are some nice people, but I feel like they are outnumbered by the hustlers. Just exhausting how much effort people there put into trying to finesse you, and to a;ways have your head on a swivel, trusting no one. Nigeria and DRC definitely amongst the two trickiest countries in Africa to visit. Love your content. Becoming my favourite travel channel. Real without being dramatic.

You have told us this story the way you want us to hear it and I am not buying this bullshit. Mister I don't know if you from the UK or the US. You’re honest with your comments during this video, and not mincing words, which is appreciated, but I’m wondering if you actually played all this TOO “kind and patient and understanding” with the staff during your time over there- what I’m wondering if is you’d have stood up for yourself and gotten a little louder with them, so to speak- pushed back at them a little more forcefully- would that have actually helped things go your way? Not sure, but it was kind of annoying how calm you sound throughout this whole video, in a way. Lol. I thought it might have taken a stronger TONE in front of these desks, but in a foreign country that is probably not the wisest thing to do! Obviously, a little “tip” here and there for every interaction is probably a GOOD idea.

It's a fine line. Harsh enough to not get pushed around, but not so much that they just say screw it and stop helping you... I've seen them both

It's hit or miss. When you find a good representative, they're some of the best in the world honestly

Wow that sounds awful. i won't be going to Nigeria any time soon. "Run out of VISA's" ??? I would have lost my temper and yelled

It's the same experience for many people to many places

@ no it’s not. This never happens in most places

To be fair, I've only had it happen once before with Bolivia, but in the video I also mentioned that rather than hold my passport captive for months, they just sent it back with a letter and told me to present it to the "visa on arrival" office when I landed in the country, and the whole thing took about 48 hours. So it's rare to see it happen, but there are far better ways to deal with it then the nightmares of Nigeria's embassies

I think the last time Josh flew with Air Peace he gave them a passing grade. Not wonderful, but just passing.

Why do westerners complain about bureaucratic bottlenecks when they want to assess Nigerian services or visit Nigeria...As a Nigerian, we are only returning the favour you do to us. Stop complaining if you haven't been a Nigerian and trying to use other embassies. I think you are not fair
@isaiahonyediАй бұрын
That's the country you should not visit now. Like davido said, the economy is really going down

Seems like nearly everyone who flies Air Peace has had some sort of problem.

But isn't that just a ton of fun???

@@PatrickSheaAviation For you maybe...if I had to put up with that sort of T.I.A. ,🐎💩, even if I reviewed flights for a living, there would be a trail of wounded Nigerians left behind. If I ever have to go to Nigeria I'm flying British Airways.

I'm mostly surprised they got it with their history... but now they're working on US slots. But that's something for part 2 of the saga
