Great vid Alfie, now fancy doing one about Jersey/Guernsey? Both have attempted multiple times to ascend to full FIFA recognition, both have failed. For interesting reasons…
@exsandgrounder2 ай бұрын
Yes, and like Monaco, they have club sides that compete "abroad" (in England of course), although given they're not as good as Monaco they have less to lose. I'm a Guernsey resident and I think there would be sufficient national pride to support FIFA accession, plus there is sufficient local base to form a national team. Meanwhile, there is the Island Games and Muratti Vase that "national" teams from both islands compete in. There has been some talent from the islands too, with Graeme le Saux (Jersey) and Matt le Tissier (Guernsey), and Alex Scott of Guernsey is now a Premier League player. According to Wikipedia, Jersey's FA was considering accession to CONCACAF last year in a quote from the Greenland manager.

@@gvogas I believe but I could be wrong, that UEFA essentially told the 4 big Welsh clubs that if they continued to compete in the Welsh cup they would have to become full members of the FAW and be classified as a “guest” in England and that would mean their only route (like Vaduz) to enter European competition would now be through the Welsh cup. So now as you say they are de jure English clubs but de facto Welsh. But I think the comparison stands because it’s precisely what the Welsh clubs (which operate more akin to how Monaco does today) would have been faced with.

The IOMFA acts as a County FA under the FA. MIFA and the IOMFA have an agreement under which any players playing on the Isle of Man are eligible to represent Ellan Vannin, therefore making the Ellan Vannin team a _de facto_ Isle of Man Football League representative side, although not the official IOMFL representative side that competes in the FA Inter-League Cup and has represented England in the UEFA Regions' Cup twice (2007 and 2015).

Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 673) Alternativly you could do "Best German players who played outside the Bundesliga" or something like that if you prefer. I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored. If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.

I wonder what is more likely to happen: Alfie making this video or Tottenham winning a trophy?

Alfie could you make a video on how if Catalonia/Basque country seceded from Spain what would happen to La Liga and teams like Barcelona

#thepeopleschannel a video on the Bangladesh premier league and the rise of Bashundhara kings would be good A team who went into the top flight after promotion and won the last Six league titles now! Are they the next Newcastle? Are they a team to keep a eye on next few years? Thanks Alfie 😊

Would be cool if Monaco, Vatican City and Reunion had teams

18:53 Maybe but they could find themselves similar to Swansea or Cardiff, who compete in England and represented England in UEFA competitions even though Welsh league exists separately and Welsh teams qualify through it separately.

I live in Kansas City and I have to admit, I did not see that Roos reference coming. They are a university team, not professional, and tend to rebrand every few years. Growing up, I would have known them as the Kangaroos from UMKC (University of Missouri - Kansas City).

Please Please Please, what's going on in Cameroon is literally a netflix show. The Crisis between Samuel Eto'o and the Ministry of sports is just mental. Can you talk about it please?

Haha, a really nice elaboration on what everyone first thinks seeing the question in the title: Why Doesn't Monaco Have A National Football Team? - Because there is practically no such thing as "a nation of Monaco" to represent. In theory - yes. In reality - no. (I was a bit surprised to learn Monaco has a national Olympic Committee and does compete in the Olympics though - I guess individual sports are a bit of a different case than team sports...)

Imagine the pope's XI football team lol. Could have a holy grail(cup) all the clubs associatied with religious ideologies instead of going to war just play football

I have to say I agree that hull is nicer than Monaco. My dad used to live there and there are some quite nice parts

I think it's quite a lost opportunity, Monaco's NT could be a haven for French players who aren't good enough for France but are too good for, say, Guyana, could make a great XI to fight for qualification even

@20:00 - Aha, so Vatican City does have a football team after all - gotcha!

There should be a Vatican City national team. Pope Francis as striker, cardinals on the wing, and the Swiss guards’ uniforms already look like a keeper’s kit

Monaco would literally just buy the best athletes in the world & give them full citizenship if they would have a national team.

- Victor Langellotti is a pretty good Monegasque cyclist (he recently signed for Ineos), whose career got derailed for a bit when he got addicted to FIFA. So he has stamina and he knows football, might be enough to make the national team? - I think an even better example than Forchério would be Massimo Bonini, who played in Juventus midfield next to Platini, but on a national level played for San Marino. - Would Swansea and Cardiff have the same problem as FC Vaduz if they started doing well in the Premier League?
