Ripjaws does NOT appear in the reboot, that KZbin thumbnail you showed is FAKE. The only "Ripjaws" in the reboot is the Pisciss Volann prionser that lives in the Null Void alongside the other prisoners Azmuth used to test Ben, as that is the name credited to him in the credits of the film. So yes, Gwen 10's Ripjaws having a rebreather DOES debubk your theory!

Regardless, that's the reboot timeline so the rules are different anyway, like how Vaxasaurians are different, Appoplexians don't have a sense of shame and how Arburia still exists. There's differences so the theory still holds weight in that regard.

I've always considered rip jaws to have both lunges and gills. And the reason he can't breathe on land sometimes, is because the air doesn't have enough moisture.

Gills can be used to breathe on land. That's how it is for fish, they can breathe air as long as their gills are moist.

Yeah the problem is more likely the lack of water/constant hydration, not just that they just cannot breathe air, I don’t know, doesn’t seem like Ripjaws just cannot breathe when Ben is him on land, even then he seems more thirsty than suffocating?

You know in my mind I've always thought it was a glitch in the Omnitrix that no one has notice but your theory also makes a lot of sense about why Ripjaws doesn't have a Breathing Brace so I might be a bit split now on what I think now

While Ripjaws not being in the reboot (at least by Ben) was mentioned by another commenter. There is also the fact that Goop and NRG debunk this. They have their equipment so they can exist on other planets. Also we never see a piscciss premann who hasn’t been cybernetically altered. While it’s still possible and even likely they have legs, we can’t use the only one seen in the show as evidence for that.

Ripjaws living at incredibly deep depths also contributes to his super strength at shallow depths and the surface. I always wondered if the clothes that the omnitrix produced were clothes from that creature's planet/culture (but in bright green) and that the super smart cerebrocustaceans invented the rebreathers.

My idea for this was that Ripjaws' inability to breathe on land isn't severe enough. After all he can breathe when the air's moist enough. A line has to be drawn somewhere and the Omnitrix drew the line slightly not in favour of Ripjaws.

I do enjoy your theory. That said, I also like the “adds tension” idea since one thing I appreciate about the original 10 aliens is how none of them felt too over or underpowered. Ripjaws might struggle out of water, but his ability to bite through steel is still pretty dangerous regardless of terrain, so the dehydration problem to prevent Ben from accidentally Mortal Kombatting somebody feels like an appropriate drawback. Good for party balance. On a slightly related note, glad to learn that Brainstorm is naturally aquatic. I was trying to think of a good roster of Ben’s aliens (for the sake of a fanfic idea that I’m unsure if I’ll ever actually write) that pulls from multiple series and has some decent team synergy, and was feeling kinda sad that I didn’t think I had any aquatic aliens, but I did have Brainstorm, so now I know that that won’t be an issue.

Remember in Omniverse where Ben used Rath on his home world and basically ran through the streets as a naked maniac, leading to Asmuth realizing a glitch in the Omnitrix was causing some of Ben's aliens to not have proper attire, leading to a mid-series redesign for a bunch of his aliens? Well, not every Alien was affected. Four Arms was never naked, but Ripjaws always was. Maybe it was because of that!

I don't think about this so much but Classic Ripjaws has one of the coolest alien designs among the Classics. The sharp teath and the best part the Lure because it reminds me of the Angler fish. I will never understand why the Ultimatrix and official Omnitrix never game Ripjaws a rebreather yet gave Brainstorm and NRG equipment for their respective transformations. Like if Classic Ben were to transform into Brainstorm would he have the Breathing Brace? Would a classic Nrg have the containment suit?

What personally grinds my gears is that djw comment. If I had any sort of sway in the franchise I would just retcon it to where brainstorm would be a sort of land crab like the Christmas ilsnd crabs that, while still living in moist environments like the jungle, spend their adult life on land while still migrating to the ocean to deposit their eggs. But since im just a random dude, ill just spit my head cannon that they live near the swamps to keep tabs on their larvae, and that the volanns used to live on a planet with considerable land mass, but have dince moved their capital wirld to what we see in the show (maybe after that war that was mentioned in screencaps with the pyronites?). Honestly, Ripjaws not having a rebreather was the reason I had to make my human version of Ripjaws (Sea), wear limited clothes to survive on land for almost a full day, or else she suffocates in a few minutes, just so I can have her get screen time💀

6:35 gwens ripjaws is the only ripjaws in the reboot. Reboot Ben never got him due to overflow filling that need. It's also why he ever had the one electric alien, one cloning alien, etc. Gwens ripjaws is just an edited version of the prisoner from vs the universe because in the final season the money was starting to get tight as they had to split up there budget across three specials, all of which needed a lot of new designs very fast, just in general. It's why waybig and vloxx just use there ov designs but only slightly edited as all they needed was to be rounder to fit in the reboots artstyle. That image of Ben's ripjaws has a green dial, which reboot Ben only get when wearing armor, and is just a fan modle. The green dial is the dead give away

They manage to do things like explore what a fully formed petropia would be like, what arburia was like before it was destroyed and it does line up well with what little we know about it from prime, they made primus cool by integrating it with galvin prime, and made plenty of references to prime.like in the galvin b episode where they end it by saying there's a legend that is there planet where to break, the mechamorphs could rebuild it by pulling themselves together, A very clear reference to showdown from ov

@@KirigiriKirin fair enough, tho if you're making a video on an alien that has an AW short, i'd genuinely recommend watching them before writing a theory or something. they take a lot of stuff from prime into account, especially with the classic aliens, like making primus into part of galvin prime, referencing Showdown from OV with a legend that the mechamorphs can pull the planet back together, Giving XLR8 back his visor, making new predators, making arbria very close to what the toy cards and such said it was like before it was destroyed, brining humongo full circle and giving him a weapon like his ultimates missiles and astrodactyl's whips. they don't perfectly line up perfectly, but they do give way better insight and tend to clear up some issues previous explorations of planets brung, and even show us what petropia and arburia could've been like before being blown up.

My theory before going in, the omnitrix is meant to be a "walk a mile in their shoes" situation it's meant to help aliens understand eachother by becoming other species temporarily so I think that ripjaws doesn't get a breathing device because that's something that the omnitrix wants to emphasize is how annoying nit being able to breath air is, also it might be because ripjaws can't breath air at all but brainstorm can breath air but also needs to keep his gills wet so ripjaws would need a full suit like the plumbers have whereas brainstorm just needs the belt thing also maybe it's because brainstorm's species has the intelligence and means to make such a device but ripjaws doesn't so the omnitrix gives brainstorm the collar for free?

I love the theory to be honest. But now I have one question: If Ripjaws is adapted to deep sea, why can he survive on normal ground? Most deep sea animals literally "explode" when outside. Are volann just build different? PS: we need the "you know what that means- FISH" meme audio over Ben transforming into Ripjaws

Well the Volann have super strength and can move around really fast despite heavy pressure weighing them down underwater, so perhaps they are just, as you say, built different!

outside of design Overflow is infinately better Then ripjaws if they just used called overflow waterhazard and kept the speiceis a Orishan then this wouldnt be a hated subject in the fandom at all Overflow can breath on land, can shoot water out of his hands, push enough water out of its hands too fly, wont kill ben if hes out of water for more then 10 minutes and Overflows powers work in any situation even in a really hot place like a volcano or desert. Power creep effects a lot of aliens but atleast they still have values...Ripjaws is the only exception. walkatrout, the worst and molestache are all aliens who are useless and have no values. If ripjaws debut in Omniverse instead of OS then nobody would like or remember him. (side note...they never should of made the useless 3, replace them and all there appearances with Chamalien, jetray and Fasttrack)

Perhaps Ben needs to learn how to source oxygen from mist/water vapor in the air. And maybe, If he could optimize his breathing techniques and maintain oxygenation in his blood, he could extend the amount of time needed before he needs to take a breath as Ripjaws. Same priciples apply to irl free divers, although here it would be sort of reversed.

Even though the reboot ripjaws is just clickbait, I still think your theory is NOT debunked. Reboot canon and prime canon aren’t the same, so your stuff is still valid. Also maybe Ripjaws is able to stay on land for a while before choking is because he’s like a lungfish? Take this with a grain of salt though because I’m not a fish expert
