Please read VP Menon's speeches in the United Nations. Kashmir was never a disputed territory for India. India is a status quo power and Pakistan is not a status quo power. 2007 was the best time to solve Kashmir issue. Now, I don't think it will be solved until some Military dictator like Musharraf come at the helm. India's stance is very clear. There will be no alternation of Status quo. So, recognizing LOC as the International boundary. Please remember Ayub Khan's comment after 1965 war. He told that he cannot sacrifice the whole population of Pakistan for 10 lakhs of population of Kashmir.

@@Sindhi001 True. I will humbly request you to read a book. The name of the book is 'Warriors after War' by Richard Bonney. The book consists of the interviews of Ex-Army personnel from both India and Pakistan. The retired military officers had given interviews. One common thing among the Pakistani soldiers is their hatred towards India. The Indian soldiers on the other hand were not given to much hatred. Their education system is responsible for fermenting such hatred. Pakistanis believe in all sorts of Conspiracy theories, always want to be seen at par with India negating the fact that India is a much bigger Nation with a strong growth of GDP. If Zia destroyed the education system of Pakistan by overt Islamic tone, Imran Khan is hell bent on decimating the left over Education system by more stringent Islamic identity. Education should not be so overtly religious. The Social Study of Pakistan is notorious for its destruction of facts. It is also surprising how much less the Pakistanis read. They believe in all sorts of voodooist facts. Imran Khan will surely take Pakistan to 7th century at least not morally but through his backward looking vision. If in India, children are taught Coding, Pakistan is teaching them verses from the religious texts. I hope one will read Hussain Haqqani's critique on the New Education System of Imran Khan. The Pakistani people are regularly fed with all sorts of lies. Then. how can there be Peace with the neighboring countries ? There are many Afghans in India. I know a few of them and they are furious about Pakistan. They hate Pakistan more than any Indians would ever imagine to do. Afghanistan is the only country which has never recognized Pakistan in the UN. Even the Talibans don't recognize the Durand line. The Talibans are basically Pakistani bred Madrassa students. Mr Yousaf talked about mistakes committed by India, but when you quizzed him, all that he could say was that India should have responded positively to Imran Khan's peace overtures, though it is not clear what were those overtures. He talked about the Indian 'tashaddud' in Kashmir (many of your guests do) but did not elaborate what 'tashddud' is going on? Wonder what his response would have been, had you asked him about China's treatment of Uyghurs. He talked about concessions that India ought to make on Kashmir. What concessions can India make? From Sardar Patel's offer on Kashmir to India's according MFN status to Pakistan, from tolerating years of interference in India's internal affairs (Kashmir, Punjab) to attacks in Mumbai and on the Parliament, from welcoming the Pakistani citizens for medical treatment in India to Prime Minister Vajpayee's Lahore visit (rewarded by way of Kargil), from invitation to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to the swearing in ceremony in 2014 to Prime Minister Modi's surprise visit to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's house on 25th December 2015, and on and on, India has done whatever it takes to reach out. It would be interesting to know how were all these measures reciprocated. Mr Kamran seems to advocate that Pakistan should improve its relations with India to revive its economy which will enable it to talk to India from a position of strength. Really? What is Pakistan's claim on Kashmir? It would be very interesting to know what do the Pakistani intellectuals think about it. The Shaqsgam Valley is separated from Aksai Chin by the Siachen Glacier, and as we all know, India holds the glacier. If Pakistan held the whole Siachen glacier, even then they would just be barely touching the Aksai Chin. If you look at a map of the area, you will see that Shaqsgam Valley lies to the north of the Karakoram Range and Aksai Chin is to its right, but separated by the Siachen Glacier. So, they couldn't have gifted Aksai Chin to China. In fact, that is why it is important that India hold Siachen, otherwise Pakistan and China would be at handshaking distance..

No Indian PM can ever go back to pre 2019 status. India , including people and many PMS, until 2019 was willing to agree to finalize settlement on LOC but Pakistan wanted all of it. So time has passed for any settlement. Ppl of India will not settle for anything but getting back POK. For 70 yrs Pakistan has been nuisance. It will force war and when beaten back will say “forget past let’s talk Kashmir”. It happened again and again 47, 65, 98, Pulwama, Uri, Mumbai, and many more. Indian ppl have no appetite or reason to talk Kashmir. 2019 sealed it. Only concession Pakistan can get now is to keep the part that it has. But even for that no PM will agree after 2019 specially knowing Pakistan has no means, stupid economy, to alter the equation. Kamran sir.. I dont think that the Pakistani leadership has still realized that they should not support militancy. Their hands might be partially tied at the moment due to bad economy and FATF, but the intent to support militancy is always there. Prime example is Pak's support to Afghan Taliban and Imran Khan's speech where he said that 'Afghanistan has broken shackles of slavery' after the Taliban takeover.

Despite Mr. Choudhry’s efforts to bring about more clarity and understanding between the two nations, many Pakistani intellectuals and journalists continue to remain ignorant or ill informed. Not only about regional politics but also regarding the world at large. I don’t know if this is true ignorance or lack of knowledge or is deliberate self, government or cleric suppression. Whilst acknowledging that Pakistan has been involved in the terrible state of affairs from the beginning in Kashmir, Pakistan continues to state that there is an uprising and people of Indian Kashmir are unhappy. Sure there will always be some that are unhappy anywhere in the world. Not everyone is happy in Europe for instance. Pakistan continues to deny there’s more peace and massive development taking place in Indian Kashmir. This includes, education, infrastructure, medical health, bringing about more tolerance between communities etc. Even if Pakistan were given the whole of Kashmir, is it in any state to take care of it? Was it ever in a position to take care of it and it’s people? Baluchistan was engulfed in a similar fashion as to what Pakistan is trying to do in Kashmir. But india stopped it. It’s unable to handle Baluchistan and is on the verge of economic and political collapse! Further, mentioning people like Arundhati Roy doesn’t justify Pakistan’s argument. In a democracy you’ll always have disagreements because that’s what democracy allows. That doesn’t mean it’s the popular view. Do Pakistanis know what true democracy is? People in India have not been indoctrinated by the government over successive generations about Muslims, Pakistan and hatred for others. Pakistan has done this and has told lies to its people right from the reasons to create Pakistan up to today. A country founded on lies can not continue to survive on lies as the truth will eventually come out, as it is doing now. Pakistani public is becoming aware due to the internet and so vial media if the truth, albeit very slowly as it’s hard for them to digest the real truth considering what they thought was the truth!

After listning to a Kashmiri Dr. Shabir Chaudhary over the years one gets to know the following; There were two parts to India's partition plan. One, partition of British India where areas directly controlled by Britain by division along the lines of muslim majority areas going to Pakistan and the rest remaining with India. Second the over 650 princely states had the option to either join India and Pakistan. The rulers of these princely states had the power to decide on the option to be adopted by the princely states. The ruler of Kashmir signed the instrument of accession in favour of India after Pakistan attacked Kashmir even while there was a standstill agreement between Pakistan and Kashmir. India today has under its control only those parts of Kashmir which it could cover on the date of signing of instrument of accession. Legally Pakistan has no title document to claim any part of Kashmir. The so called Azad Kashmir displays no sign of an independent region. It has no seat at the UN, no airport, No passport of it's own, No embassies in any country, No country has opened embassies in the so called azad Kashmir. The region is totally controlled from Pakistan. It sends its civil servants to Kashmir as officers on loan called lent officers. These lent officers have more control over the region than their elected representatives including its Prime Minister and other cabinet ministers. Its PM can not even appoint a peon without consent from Pakistan.

Kashmir issue is a purely Islamic Separatism... India is a Union of States, that's why States have many power and freedom... And infact, Kashmir before Abrogation of 370 and 35A had more freedom as compared to others states.. There haven't any minority PM/CM in Kashmir... Kashmir used to received more fund than other states... But they don't want these type of freedom... They want to make Kashmir a Islamic Country and establish Nizam-e-mustaffa (Rule of Shariat)... But being part of India, they can't do that... So they are doing Islamic Separatism... The same is found all over the world... Where ever they get in majority, they create separatism to establish Sharia Law... Kosovo-Serbia is one of the example... There are many Islamic Separatism movement in Europe..

Dear Shakil Sir, I really admire your passion to bring out the facts and being critical and your deep desire to reason with pakitani community. Many of your facts will deeply hurt the sentiments of your pakistani people. Please take care and stay safe. Our best wishes. My opinion is that even if India gives Kashmir to Pakistan in a silver plate (which is unlikely) the hatred and animosity towards India or Hindu's will not go. I can bet on that. Kashmir is just an excuse. The root cause of all the pakistani establishment thinking is medieval Islamic thinking. They over-estimate themself and under-estimate Indians. This can be seen right from Jinnah to all the later leaders. I think it's good that partition happened otherwise there would not have been peace in India or India would have developed. There can never be peace with the current mindset. The permanent solution should be that pakistan to give up POK and northern areas to India and in return it should get free-trade agreement and other financial aid. If the 4 provinces could be run properly then it will be a big achievement for them. Balochistan and KP is in big trouble and need good governance, see the state of karanchi. But this type of solution can come only from outside and never from inside.

I fail to understand why your economy depends on India. You have equally strong neighbor Iran, then why obsession with India. I was in Simla when bilateral agreement was signed. The leaked news in public was Indra Gandhi was insisting on settling Kashmir issue around LOC but Bhutto was reluctant fearing backlash back home. Bilateral agreement shows that there was a broad draft agreement existing verbal or written on the matter and was to be narrowed down to give final shape.
