I totally understand the niche of the channel. But I'd hate to be the guy that spends my good money on something that "looks" good but was only half fixed so some KZbin channel could spend as little as possible to "fix" something. Just my .02c. Love the videos and look forward to the next release notification from the bell.

Yes I understand your feeling. There are moral and ethical gremlins that wander in my brain. I’d sell it cheap and only if it ran after using it some. I’d also say the piston was changed. Glad you took the time to comment, sharing your thoughts is important

@MowersNBlowersАй бұрын
Of course, but at what expense to be profitable? Why spend $100 and labor when you can buy a working one for $150?
@rogermcdonald1607Ай бұрын
Henry, I wouldn't do the cylinder either. It doesn't look great , but if you get the aluminum off the bore and lightly hone it, you could get by doing the piston and rings kit. I think it will run. If you do the piston and cylinder , you won't make sh&t. Put your grass flip flops on and go for it! 😉👍🇺🇲
@shoptalkwithbrett6572Ай бұрын
If it were me, I’d change both. If you do the full rebuild, the machine is basically new and if the right person sees it, it could go for 200.
@mikespain8655Ай бұрын
This is a $280 homeowner blower. The piston, rings, and cylinder are doneski! All you have to do is remove the muffler and look at it through exhaust port. Use heat and PB Blaster if necessary when removing torx bolts.
@StanLutionАй бұрын
Since you asked for our opinion. I would fix it bc content for the channel. Also profit is profit, selling 1 machine at 1k is the same as selling 2 for 500

Hi Henry been watching your videos for a while. I like working on lawn mowers too. I agree i don't think that blower is worth putting that much money into it let alone the the time and work it would take getting it running right again also quick question I have a Husqvarna Comercial back pack blower that has me stumped. It's only been used a few times. It runs ok for a few minutes then it starts cutting out wen it gets hot i use non ethanol gas and Husqvarna 50 to 1 gas mix .dose not make sense to me i was thinking about getting a new carburetor just to see but wanted to ask your opinion first.
@MowersNBlowersАй бұрын
Is it a 580bfs? I’m working on one right now that runs perfect on high throttle for a minute then stalls. Check your spark arrestor, fuel filter, spark plug. I’m thinking ignition coil because it only happens when it gets hot. But yours is brand new so unlikely.

Buy the piston and hone out the bore a little

I've done several of these EXACT models as I mentioned to you in the original video. They were all the piston with almost no cylinder wall scoring. I'm more particular than you, as we've discussed before, and sometimes I've told you that I disagree with a few of your cutting corners. This one I don't. I've honed and light sanded the wall and CLEAN IT THOROUGHLY. Slide the piston in slowly and try to feel foe any restriction. If fine, reassemble, fuel/prime the engine and cylinder, and do a compression test. If it passes, go from and use it, and do another compression test after an hour or two of use. Otherwise, wait for a donor for a cylinder head if you don't want to buy one.

Crazy prices!! 🤪 When i bought my BT150 it was 199 in 2021. My BT 360....... was 299...... they are up to 499 these days.....crazy!! I think soon prices will be droping drastically!! Housing is supposed to drop 25 percent in the coming months! Henry, i would hone the cylinder and see if it cleans up. It it needs too much metal removed, then a new cylinder will be needed!! A stock loose piston in a badly worn oversized bore will rattle and maybe crack if it does run.

Only Way Too Go is The Kit and Since The Blower Is Virtually New Could Get 200.00 Out of It I’d Check The Crank Bearings If There Shot Then It’s Not Worth Fixing With The Galling on The Piston and Cylinder It Might Run 1 Minute With Just a New Piston unless You Scotch Bright the Cylinder and Avoid Removing The Nickosil Coating on the Cylinder
@MowersNBlowersАй бұрын
Bearings wouldn’t be shot unless the conrod broke which it didnt
@staceygandy2009Ай бұрын
You can buy hex and torx bits for not much money. Shouldn't have to use vise grips on two cycle equipment. Sorry but true. I repair small engine equipment over 30years. Its better to have the right tools vs stripping a fastener.
@MowersNBlowersАй бұрын
I have the bits. But they strip from the amount of heat
@jreed2447Ай бұрын
I'd just put a piston and rings in it there a dime a dozen but those chippers aren't cheap let alone free great profit henry
@chriseisele9969Ай бұрын
Henry. I would try using a ball hone on the bore .then check compression also if not working out save piston for the future Chris from OHIO
@toddosterhout9866Ай бұрын
Henry I've seen where you can use muriatic acid to take the aluminum transfer off the bore and then some fine sandpaper to smooth out the cylinder. I would do that and change the piston. I've sold some backpack blowers for $150 here in Florida so up there I'm sure you can make close to $200
@MowersNBlowersАй бұрын
Yes I’m familiar. The bore isn’t that bad, plus it’s really low, so much that the piston barely touches that area. Stay tuned bro

Hmm. If it were me, id fix it right. Like you say, some nut will buy it for $225-240. But, just replacing the piston/rings, Im curious how it works after running 30 minutes and its all warmed up? Good luck dude. I enjoy your videos.

Hey Henry, a little off topic but by any chance do you know the length of your truck bed? Wondering to see if my mower will fit in my truck.

@Andy-nm9dwАй бұрын
If you can’t sand that inclusion out of the cylinder head you will be throwing away your $$. The aluminum will transfer to the new piston ring and lock them up like the ones on the current piston.

I wouldn't waste your money on it. At this point, it is a parts machine. Changing the piston and rings only is a waste of time. The bore is too far to gone.
