Why Dogs Get Stuck After Mating - Breeding Process Explained

In this video, we'll explain why dogs get stuck together during mating, why dogs appear to be distressed by it, and whether you should intervene during a dog tie and lock while after they mate.
Dogs get stuck to each other because there are multiple steps happening while they are mating. Getting stuck or lock is a common, natural phenomenon. It is simply a stage of the dog breeding process, and is technically known as copulatory tie.
And there is no defined time until when the dogs would remain in tie. It may last up to an hour. To understand the full process, we first need to analyze the male canine’s genital organ. The tie gives the female dog a higher chance of getting pregnant. Theories suggest that the reason the two dogs face outward from each another is a form of defense mechanism. It allows the two dogs to survey their surroundings.
If you come across dogs who are tied to another, do not try to separate them. While the dogs often start whimpering, whining or even barking, it's important to realize that this process is normal and natural.
Separating them is dangerous and can hurt both dogs. It can rupture their sexual organs.
Interestingly enough, this behavior isn’t unique to dogs, it’s found in most canids, including wolves, foxes and coyotes.

My best advice is ask an experienced dog breeder if or before you breed your dogs. Out of all the times I've seen dogs stuck together, I got to say sex with them is weird. I love dogs. I think they are super smart animals. This video is very helpful.

When 2 stray dogs get stuck to each other in my neighborhood its my perfect opportunity to stone them. They can't do anything but cry or run away and fail to do so. You may think this is wrong but it's a way of keeping them away from our properties. The officials in my town don't really do anything about the abundance of stray dogs so we have to take matters into our own hands. We have to show the dogs that our properties aren't theirs to be loittering around and mating. Throwing rocks at them does the trick.

The first time is always very painful for the female and it's normal. Next time the pain will be much less and she won't react like that again. And after two times, she probably won't feel any pain at all. Of course that's assuming the male ins't much larger than the female.

for some dogs that can take up to an hour. basically the dogs are only going to bother putting themselves in any given position because it seems even moderately comfortable (it's always painful to some degree) so yeah they can maybe wiggle into a sitting position if that makes them feel better, as long as the tie remains. Doing the act of sitting down by itself doesn't ruin it. But technically it is possible for a female not to get impregnated even if the "tie" is fully done, and it's possible to get pregnant even if the tie doesn't even wind up happening. It's more rare, but possible

did you know your two dogs were already of puberty age when this started? because there really is no good reason at this point to not have your pets spayed/neutered, especially if you've got a male and female both in heat in the same household. There are a myriad of health benefits for both dogs to have longer lives if they are fixed. plus if you've got dogs in heat, unless they get to mate, it's going to be putting them thru torture. It's entirely a biological/hormonal response they're going off of. It's exactly like the sensation you have when you have to urinate. You feel it arrive, and it gradually gets worse and worse and the only thing that satiate that feeling is emptying your bladder. Well, same exact concept for dogs in heat and their genitals. All's each knows is, "I have GOT to take care of this or I'll go insane"
