Oh no. My two small dogs always, as in 9 out of 10 times, will howl and cry for a minute every time I step outside. I like to think they do this out of jealousy rather than panic, because after a minute, they both quite down.

As a 71 year old owner of a dachshund who was severely abused, I think we have made WONDERFUL progress!! He comes to me if I cry and lays his head on my chest, looking in my eyes and licking any tears. If I hurt myself, he comes immediately and shows concern by licking me or climbing into my lap and holding onto my arm. He wants to be with me constantly.....he has severe separation anxiety, due to this being when the abuse occurred. A family member abused him in my absence!!!😢 We (my pup and I now are on our own).....and GLAD of it!!! He is a very precious little mini dachshund! He is the JOY of my life!!

For those loosing a pet. If they are in pain, I believe it shows much more love to let them pass and take on the pain of loosing them than go to extreme lengths to keep them alive. They show us what unconditional love looks like. Just my personal opinion.

Than you so much for reaching out to me with this information. I knew my dog liked me because I provided food and comfort and fun, but never understood if he truly loved me. Your scientific facts made me realize how much he cared. He was truly an empathetic dog who was so full of life and fun. I guess I will always miss him. Because of Covid-19 protocols I didn't get to say my goodbye so it will always feel tough.

Having a pet at all is a responsibility. Think of it: we acquire these creatures, indeed humanity has modified/created these creatures, such that they can no longer survive in the wild but are utterly dependent on us. And we acquire them to do work for us, to take away our loneliness and provide comfort. We owe them everything. It baffles me that people take them for granted, or actively abuse them.

the "they don't panic when you leave home" made me cry so hard, my mom passed and my poodle has "waited" for her, she didn't panic, doesn't cry she just..waited like normal, she was use to her being in the hospital and would come home always, she still hasn't panicked but sits in my mom's normal spot,I think she knows this time mom isn't coming home and that's how she is grieving

I know it's too late but I've heard that it might have been prudent for your dog to see your mom after she died. Dogs need closure. It's said about this too when you have a pet die and you have other pets in the home. Pet's need to say 'goodbye'. We've done this with our pets we had to put down. We brought them home for the rest of the family to pay their respects. It's quite remarkable. After a little time passed, we took the deceased pet back to the vet for cremation(we've had all of out pets creamated and we have their ashes).

BTW, number 6 is really like lucky. the first owner locked him up in a small room,and got to work a whole day. he starts to cry , so we can not leave him alone, not even for 2 min. well so be it. my son lives with me, so when i am gone to visit friends or family. or on holidays.? My condition for loving my dog when I have one, is that it doesn't bite me, luckily it's been very easy to love all my dogs. Of the dogs I've had over the years... Doggo 1: German Shepard named Murphy, was a great dog, not welcoming of intruders so he was a good guard dog too, never so much as barked at a family member, you could even pick up and move his food bowl while he was eating and he'd just follow you until you put it down, during walks on the sea front he would walk a circle around you constantly on the look for threats. Doggo 2: German Shepard named Sam, was a great dog to cuddle and not much fucking else, not only would he not defend against intrusion, I doubt the lazy bastard would've so much as raised his head to look at an intruder. Doggo 3: Collie x Lurcher named Ruby: she was loving to family, absolutely fucking vicious to everyone else, she would go for everyone when on a walk if they came anywhere near her, she was the runt of her litter, so she was bullied by her siblings before we got her, under no circumstance would it be a good idea to try and take her food, and she was fucking FAST, one time on the beach she ran and jumped and managed to take down a Seagull. Doggo 4: I don't even have a fucking clue what she is, but she's called Molly and she's a sweetheart, not aggressive, very calm, but she won't so much as go for a cat never mind intruders.

@@hoosiermvp4936 yeah, Murphy was my first, we gave him away when we moved, he was 7, and that was in like 2005 or thereabouts, so he's definitely dead, we gave sam away a few years later, if he's still alive he'd be very old by now, Ruby we had from 8 weeks old to 10 years old, in the end we had to put her down, she was old and in constant pain, Molly's still alive, she's 6 or 7 now so still time to enjoy her company.

One of the best gifts to us humans from Mother Nature
@mygirldarby
@mygirldarby 3 жыл бұрын
We chose dogs and they chose us as well, which is why i think our bond with dogs is so special. Wild dogs were hanging around early human camps and eating our scraps. This was beneficial for them of course, but also for us because it kept mice, rats and other scavengers that may spread disease from coming around. They would also warn us if something dangerous was approaching, like a bear, etc. Over time, the dogs who were less afraid of humans were more successful because they got more food and care from us. Eventually this turned into a mutually beneficial relationship. So while dogs are domesticated, they are not like most other domesticated animals in that they chose us as much as we chose them. The only other animal similar to that is of course, cats.

I hate to be that guy...but mother nature didn't exactly provide the dogs that we know today. We selectively bred them for thousands of years and they evolved along side us. Similar to the modern banana, they both don't exist without human intervention. That being said, I prefer the idea of mother nature providing them, so we'll go with that 😄

My family had a Rottweiler in the nineties, he wouldn't stay in anybody's room whilst he was a puppy, so we left him in the living room at night with the door closed and he kept banging on the door to be let out, it turns out he wanted to be able to patrol the house at night. His main sleeping area was the living room but he'd spend some time sleeping outside my sisters room and sleeping between my own and my parents room, his guarding instinct was very strong.

You are so 💯 right about rescue dogs who may have seen worst of humanity. Our son got a very nice looking gentle rescue during COVID lockdowns. It's been three plus years yet the dog is extremely timid and apprehensive. He has earned all ours great trust but any unknown persons, he just clams up and wants to hide. We strongly believe he might have been seriously abused before. Poor kid.

I was never a dog person. In fact, I never really cared for them. Then, about 16 years ago my wife and I got a Yorkie….and my life changed. He passed away 3 years ago and I was devastated. It was like part of me died too. It took a long time for me to get over his death….though I still miss him. We just got another Yorkie puppy a few months ago and he is a wonderful little guy. It didn’t take but about two minutes for us to bond. What a great thing to have a dog in your life. Happy to say that my wife and I rate a thumbs up on all the points made in your video. 😁

my dog died in May 2018 in July 2018 a 7.5 yr old Husky moved in had lots of aggression issues [toys/food/dogs ect] now she brings me her toys , presents her back to as she likes to be rubbed by her tail, sleeps on my bed. [training went well and I do what she tells me to do] I think in her previous life she had been in charge of her owners, once she learned I had the stronger will she calmed down and we now have a very good bond. Huskies have a mind of their own and are bred to think for themselves, if they don't see a reason to do something they won't or if they don't think you are worthy of being in charge they won't do what you ask of them

My dogs just drive me crazy when I get home from work. They will jump at me, turn around and always follow me wherever I go. They always check on me, sometimes it can be annoying especially if we don't understand their action but as soon as we do, we are the luckiest people on earth to be loved unconditionally by them and I love them too so much. I remember when one of them suddenly died of uncertain illness. It took me over a month to recover from his loss. I guess this is just part of our existence. My dad isn't violent at all, but he will yell at objects if they frustrate him. My dog, Kristoff, gets scared when he does yell since his voice triggers the fight or flight response everytime. Even I get adrenaline whenever he yells, but he's not aggresive at all (he rarely yells at people). Kristoff always comes up to my room to snuggle with me so that he can tune out the yelling session that doesn't happen often. He even looked at me for guidance when we were packing to move. I already had a pretty good idea that he trusted me, this video confirms it.

I relate with that so much. My dad has anger issues and while he does yell at the family members, my dog has never been hurt by him, but she does get scared when he’s in a bad mood and she’d hide behind me or go to my room. The same is true for when she does something bad like take something of my mom’s and when my mom scolds her, my dog instantly runs to me and will go behind me, it feels good to be her safe space

Sadly most people are very bad at reading their dogs. I have met so many dog owners with dog that claim my dog is afraid of other dogs because she got attacked when she was a puppy meanwhile they have to drag in the leash because their dog wants to say hi to my dog, so sometimes I mention that and then it happens sometimes that they say, yes it's me who is afraid because your dog is much bigger. I always react by saying well we are going to stay right here and you can come to us, but very slowly because you are afraid 😁. Yes, some people get angry but most of the time it works out fine and many have said ok now I don't have to be afraid anymore when we meet.

My brother got a dog a few years ago. When he moved back home, hid dog and I basically bonded. Now his dog is mine and I am his human. I love him so much.

My first dog (who’s over the rainbow bridge now) always wanted to sleep with me every night. At first it was just a routine of snuggling with me while I was watching a movie until it was bedtime and then he would leave but one night he refused to leave and slept with me the entire night and it continued up until his very last night when he was only 8 years old (cancer). When I was younger (he lived from when I was 8 to 16) he preferred to sleep curled up in a little ball right next to my head instead of at my feet because I used to kick in my sleep, but when I got older and I stopped doing it, he then preferred to sleep at my feet. He would hang out with me soooo much he actually had TWO dog beds: one in the living room and one in my room LOL 😂

My 3 month puppy does all of this o has her since she was 7 weeks old , she just started sleeping in my bed 2 days ago and she will put her little head on mines and it warms my heart. She follows me all over my apartment even in the bathroom lol she will bark when I take Shower because she can’t see me and when she goes on walks if I let her time off on her own she always looks behind to make sure I’m there . I guess my puppy loves me because I definitely love her but I am working with her on her separation anxiety it’s so bad but after a while she calms down

I've owned dogs for 21 years now, I currently have a Labrador and a German shepherd, both 11 yrs old now. For separation anxiety try giving them a old shirt or jersy with your scent on it. That helped calm my Labrador right down as a puppy. She sleeps on it even now and drags it everywhere like a security blanket.😀
