Batteries act like electron pumps. A water pump must be able to take in water to pump it out. Likewise, a battery can't move electrons out the negative side unless other electrons come in the positive side.

God I wish you had way more subscribers...You are the best teacher I have ever seen regarding electrical theory. I actually teach the subject myself in a trade school and am pretty savvy with theory but I often find myself watching your videos because you answer little quirky questions, just like these, that I have always wondered about. Your video about the astable vibrator is mind blowing! I actually just subscribed monthly to your patreon to hopefully motivate you to keep these up!

Thank you. I really appreciate it. It takes a long time to grow a KZbin channel. The viewers and subscribers will come.

You are a gifted teacher and I watched many of your videos. I have a suggestion for future videos and that is to explain simple circuits, like you did with the astable multivibrator. There aren't many KZbin channels or online documentation that explain the working of different componets within a circuit. The fun of electronics as a hobby is to understand what is going on, not just to build circuitry.

And what happens when I connect two batteries? not in parallel. but opposite poles? this riddle always "spoiled" my mind. Regards.

Uncle, .. when I stand beneath the 240v powerlines during heavy rain, still I am not electrocuted. Why 🤔

This example shows how off our understanding of electricity really is. No chance that from a true physics standpoint the electrons pump water analogy is accurate
