Cruising the islands of Madagascar ewe have continually asked ourselves, where are all the cruisers?www.sailingnandji.com
Sometimes the hardest part of any journey is leaving familiar ground as you continually ask yourself if you have everything ready… therefore with the sun setting, we set off from Crater bay and the island of Nosy Be to begin our journey south down the west coast of Madagascar
We had been waiting on parts for our inverter charger so it could be repaired but after 6 weeks of back and forth, we have left with the inverter charger still not working.
We have loved our time in Nosy be, Although we have only touched the tip of what Madagascar has to offer. Cyclone season is closing in, and unfortunately we don’t have time to wait any longer as we need to start getting south and begin our journey towards South Africa.
Our next month of sailing, we plan on cruising the entire west coast of Madagascar before crossing the Mozambique Channel to mainland Africa,
with hundreds of islands and over 1000 miles of Madagascar coast still to explore, we are going to be busy.

That was bad luck about the go pro, the fact no one saw it gives you the impression someone is now the new owner. Bonita I can’t believe a reputable swimwear company hasn’t picked you up to advertise their products, you looked amazing in that one piece with Tahlula in the water, and then doing handstands and enjoying yourself so naturally. Of all the animals I've seen on sailing channels the Lemurs have always been my favorites. I'd love to see someone spend time with the more tame ones. Some of those houses looked like they might have been shifted by big waves ? The one thing that happened in Madagascar was the attempted theft of a dingy, took right off the boat but they heard it and woke up and stopped the theft. So, people do take things in that beautiful place. That was Delos when they were there. Long time ago.

Thank you! Gorgeous vid! I used to get wild honey in Nigeria. It was DARK! a bit smokey flavoured, and filled with bits of bees! I would heat it to make it less viscous and then strain out the bee bits! Please give us some Lula cam!

Keep away from those mosquitoes. Malaria isn't fun. And if you get cerebal malria it can be a killre. The situation along the Mosqmbique coast will be just as bad, maybe worse because you will probably have to find shelter in a river basin but that may be impossible with your large keel. Good luck.

Yes its something we are super aware and cautious of. We have spent the last 8 years living in locations with Maleria including cerebral Malaria. Touch wood none of us have had it. Bonita has a mosquito routine to ensure none are on the boat between dusk and dawn.

I really enjoy your channel, so fun. But in general, when YT yachtys and adventures talk about the tourists and trying to escape the tourism in renovate places…well you’re adding to the problem down the road. You (as in all people who makes money of being professional tourists) make money by showing off these beautiful, isolated parts of the world. Then as the year, 2, 3 yr goes on, millions of people see these places through videos Then….floods of people head to these isolated places, changing them forever for the worse. I wish there was a balance in the end is all. I like seeing where you go, however my heart would feel better knowing you’re keeping it a secret that you enjoy and worked so hard to get there. Tough balance.
