I haven't traveled to a lot of countries, but for all the countries I have traveled to and spent some time there, my heart is still in the Dominican Republic. It doesn't matter that other countries are cheaper, safer, more industrialized, cleaner and others things that me and other people may be able to come up with that is better. The point I'm trying to make is you have to follow your love to be in a certain place, because if you don't absolutely love a place for it's good and be able to tolerate the bad, you will continue searching for a place to call home for all the wrong reasons. Sort of like you may not have the prettiest or sexist girlfriend, boyfriend or spouse, but you love them and you are happy and proud to be with them no matter what anybody else thinks of them. That's my thoughts 🙂.

Been each of these places more than once and for extended periods. IMO Thailand is the best for me, culture of is of the east and yet worldwide cultures incorporated well. Also, crime index is way better than those others and most importantly, just feels safer. DR and Brazil great too. Colombia, meh, sure…particularly if not looking for a date 😅.

@invisiblerevolution DR is last because there's a limited supply of affordable housing, everything has to be imported, local food is unhealthy, police is incompetent and corrupt, risk of robbery is high! infrastructure outside tourist areas is still sh!tty and there are power outages everyday. Thailand has great infrastructure everywhere, cheap housing everywhere, stable utilities like electricity, strong reliable police force, if you have investment properties they will be safe unlike in the DR, food is cheap and healthy, more investors and entrepreneurs to connect with. I will presume the same can be said for brazil and colombia, which I have not been to yet

If you don't learn Spanish the DR is limited. The Philippines is #1 and one of the main reasons is because practically everyone knows English, so you can travel anywhere at anytime. The Philippines is also safer than the DR. Also, I do not like how the DR treats Haitians, in fact the US government has a literal warning to dark skin Black Americans about travelling to the DR. I remember when I went to the DR and talked to a Dominican chick from there when I got back, once I started asking questions about Haitians in the DR, she went ballistic and ghosted me.

Im dark skin and when I went to DR I would ask questions about hatians as well. This is a way to get into their psychology on how they perceive us. Thailand is the safest, but the infrastructure is on another level in all of the major cities and tourist destinations, South America is being left behind. Its good to hear that they are building in DR. I just go back from BKK and it is insane the amount of growth as far as buildings and the public transportation. Cranes everywhere! If you are in Thailand hounding and doing your thing cool but you are missing out on a culture and people that have never been racist to me, been nothing but kind, respectful and just fun.
