I should also mention (for anyone who doesn't know or even if you don't know Devoid) that there's something called dragon age keep witch you can use to set your decisions from Origins to impact Dragon Age 2 and then take both your decisions from Origins and Dragon Age 2 to impact the third game Inquisition. Which is one of the reasons I love this gaming series series and I hope the next one coming out is all I could hope for and my decisions in one two and three also impact the 4th game. (Also subbed and notes are one😉)

Its honestly fantastic to see how the success of Baldur's Gate 3 has lead some people to play some of the all time greats. Dragon Age Origins & Awakening is honestly near the top of my top 10 games of all time. I must have spent thousands upon thousands of hours playing it at this point. It's just a shame the series never hit the quality of Origins again. DA2 & Inquisition are worth a play if you get into the lore & world building. But they don't even come close to being as good. Though I'm sure if EA had given Bioware more than 16 months to make it, it would have been a lot better. It had the foundations of a great game.

Dragon age origins is so fire. Its one of the only games to let you play a genuinely morally ambiguous character. In addition to that, playing an Arcane Warrior and just casting big AOE damage clouds and standing inside them while slugging it out in melee was so satisfying at the end if the game. Just watching opponents melting beneath the raw amountbof power you could output was so good. And it added to the narrative of why people are so afraid of mages when you're able to clear a whole room of 20-30 guys by yourself in less than 60 seconds.
@HiddenAdept2 ай бұрын
There's a mod that came out back when the game was new called "Expanded Shapeshifting" that fixes the Shapeshifter specialization a fair bit, brings the number of forms up to 20. You can shapeshift into Deepstalkers, Werewolves, Demons, Darkspawn and Dragonlings. Very fun!
@pikajulie_art5 ай бұрын
Ah, Dragon Age: Origins. I also felt the same of wanting to scratch that itch that Baldur's Gate 3 left. I've replayed the game twice including the DLC + mods, and it's still one of the best games I ever played! Honestly, your video reminds of the feeling that Mass Effect: Legendary Edition left me after finishing the whole trilogy. It was the first time I played a game again after so many years 'cause life happened. Sometimes it saddens me that there are only a handful of games that would make you feel the same level of roleplay and choices-matter genre in today's game releases. Graphics are sure improving, but I don't think I can say the same with the narrative portions of it. Most of them feel cliche and superficial, which is why it's hard for me to actually dedicate to a game if the graphics are good but the story's not interesting. Cinematics also play a part in making a game enjoyable for me. My most favorite part of DA:O was the unique origin stories for every character you pick, depending also on the race, class, and gender you chose. Then when you go to different lands or acts across the game, some NPCs even have different reactions when conversing with you! Baldur's Gate 3 somewhat showed that when playing as a Githyanki or a Drow, but (imo) it's not that deeply embedded as when you begin an origin character in DA:O. I know the reviews are saying otherwise, but I recommend trying Dragon Age II next! It's not of the same caliber as DA:O that's for sure. Though the characters and morality choices you encounter throughout each act is definitely something to experience. With hopefully Dragon Age: Dreadwolf popping in this year, might as well push through with Dragon Age: Inquisition too. Nevertheless, Bioware kind of pioneered this unique RPG of choices-matter that it honestly sucks that with DA:O being released back in what, 2009? We only got to experience that same high caliber of choices-matter RPG with Baldur's Gate 3 in 2023. I just finished another old Bioware game called Knights of the Old Republic and yep, even if the graphics are so dated, it was able to scratch the same itch as Baldur's Gate 3 left me after finishing two playthroughs. One can only hope that great RPG choices-matter games will be crafted and released in the upcoming years, especially in this age where we see news about the corporate mindset taking over a gamer's enjoyment and a game devs' creative freedom.

Great video for a great game. The audio when you show the characters speaking was a little low but that's all the flaws I found. This game is exceptional. The worldbuilding is awesome. The Darkspawn marching North to Ferelden and destroying everything in it's path is awesome. Making places inaccessible and the place you can revisit completely destroyed and all people dead. The refugees feel like they are truly fleeing from a war, there's untrust, and people making money of other people's misery, and heroes trying to help. The characters are brilliant. And decisions have real weight in the story. Also Alistair and Morrigan beef is *chef kiss* The combat it's just perfect for me. It's like playing 5D chess in Nightmare difficulty. The cinematic to present the game. Just go and watch them. They are EPIC

I got super into it while trying to play them all before veilguard comes out on Halloween but bounced off almost after about 15 hours when I was doing all the side missions back to back. I always make that mistake in RPGs, I don't space out content with exploration/main missions/side missions to keep it fresh. Luckily I came back and pushed further with the story and things really picked up nicely. Hooked again. Can't wait to get to inquisition because from what I played when it came out I'm pretty sure even after origins and 2 ( hot take ) it will still be my favorite with the spells. I loved the ice sprint ability and just dashing around/through enemies and freezing them all at once or using it to just escape an enemy attack at the last second.

BG3 is almost perfect, but it could have benefited from more moments like the one you see here at 16:29 (party companions arguing amongst themselves about your decisions). i know it takes a lot of work, but, DA:O is so great in this aspect of making it feel like the companions have relationships with each OTHER. like yes in BG3 Lae'zel and Shadowheart fight, but there could have been more i think. DA:O is king of this. also i liked in DA:I how if you don't romance them, Dorian and Iron Bull get together. companions romancing each other is such a good idea. this would have worked really well with Wyll and Karlach.

Fun Fact: Bioware, having loved the success of their Baldur's Gate titles, decided to make Dragon Age because they wanted their own version of DND. They had also originally been working on BG3 but lost IP rights to Larian, from my understanding it was EA that fumbled the ball so Wizard's of the Coast decided to take Baldur's Gate somewhere else. I might be wrong so please correct me if I am. Not so fun fact: We've been waiting for Dragon Age Dreadwolf since like 2015 after we all collectively finished every possible run of Dragon Age Inquisition. Dragon Age has had me in a chokehold since late 2014 and I'm glad it's been attracting more players, I don't recommend buying DAO from the EA app; it's better to go through Steam.

I still play it on PS3, I prefer to use my controller. But I also have the Steam version as one kind of backup, but I have heard the PC version of this game is broken and unplayable due to incompatibility with new hardware. I know there is a patch that (sort of) fixes it. But I don't like the idea of downloading external files to play a game, also even with the patch I have read that you still need to tweak some things yourself. It sounds like a real chore.

A good tip (if you haven't figured it out yourself or someone hasn't told you yet) for Arcane Warrior; any item that says it can regenerate stamina also regenerates mana, and they stack, so you can completely halt the consumption of mana due to how much the items regenerate it for you. Just in case you want to be even more overpowered, 🤣.

TWO. and it lasts 15 seconds, for a total of 30 damage. that can't kill a lvl 1 nug. 11:05 you also get to HOLY SMITE everything, not just mages, giving you basically a Fireball that you can throw without fear of friendly fire. 11:50 the bard also lets rogues do their power up shout, there is a rogue in DA Awakening and his Song of Courage is priceless.(Headphone Warning)

It seems like not a lot but if you got 3-4 spells you can throw 2 extra ones without it. I Personaly use rogue 9% fatigue armor on mage becoue of it. It gives less survival but burns mana 2 x time slower.

Oh man , you think Dragon age is fun just doing conventional builds wait till you start doing the crazy stuff. I remember the most overpowered characters i Made were insane My "true arcane warrior" build where i chose mage but instead evenly distributed my points throughput strength magic dexterity and constitution from the beginning, was doing almost the average warrior's damage numbers on my greatsword. Then went to the Tower and got all the additional attribute fonts spread throughout the fade. Came out of that with atleast 2 levels worth of strength and dexterity so i was able to focus on willpower and magic more eventually got the arcane warrior perk and spirit healer. Long story short. By the end of awakening my character was able to pretty much singlehandedly fight the mother on very hard difficulty. ( my companions would keep dying but my character would keep going and since they were a spirit healer they were able to revive and keep healing)
