While most Norse people didn't use grave markers of any kind, a very select few such as famous Vikings had runestones with detailed engravings and writing on them, such as Björn Ironside to name one. Hiccup would more than likely fit in the category of Norse people important enough to have runestones on their graves, and if they were serious about finding Hiccup's grave, they could've skipped so much of the other useless bullshit because it would've probably detailed exactly who he was (And this is, of course, completely giving into the probably false assumption that he didn't just receive a traditional chieftain's longship cremation burial). In an ironic way though, I'm still very glad that they didn't actually desecrate Hiccup's corpse

If the characters were able to reach their potential without the creators getting in the way, Alex and Eugene would far surpass every other character and leave them in the dust. But because the writers aren't trying (either bc of poor direction, not caring, not being paid enough, or all of the above), all they're doing instead is hindering the good characters to make the bad characters look good by comparison instead of actually writing them to be good. And this isn't the only show where this has happened. It's cheap, unfortunately common, and irritating every time.

With how popular Toothless is in the original franchise, it's kinda weird that this show barely focuses on Thunder. He would just stand around occasionally trying to look cute and helps Tom when he needs him and that's it. I can't think of a single scene that makes him a memorable character. They don't even show any bonding scenes that display his exact relationship with Tom to the point where I think he's only hanging out with the boy because it's entertaining. Just look at all the insane action he's getting from him XD Tom didn't train Thunder, this dragon is clearly bored of being underground and a human pet must've been the most entertaining thing that ever happened to him, that he even left his dear family so quickly after supposedly missing them and searching for them for three entire seasons. When asked, we can describe Toothless as many things. Thunder is just... Thunder.

The longer the Nine Realms goes on, the more I wonder about why apparently nobody on the team thought to use Yggdrasil as a set piece that connected all the hidden world realms together and to the surface. Because It would EASILY justify A) the enormous underground realms with massive tree roots supporting the spaces, and B) how dragons from one realm can intrude on foreign realms by following the roots (or tunnels supported by them). It would also give them the opportunity to make a Nidhogg-based dragon and incorporate tree roots into the different environments that would look super cool.

not every norse funeral looked the same and it could depend on cause of death, status etc. there are many norse grave sites still left today where they are buried under different stone piles/structures which varied in size and complexity depending on status. i live close to at least two myself (sweden gang 😎). sometimes they even did chamber tombs, the grave where the female viking warrior of Birka was found was a chamber tomb. they did often burn those who died in battle though like Stoick

To be fair, Race to The Edge had a very similar amount of time to make batches of episodes as The Nine Realms. DreamWorks tends to make batches of 26 episodes and then divide those batches in seasons, but the main difference is that RTTE was divided in two seasons so two seasons would come out every 6 months on average while T9R divides those batches in 4, allowing them to release a new season every 3-4 months on average.

Well it doesn't take long to her to watch the episodes, and technically speaking she could be doing all of this on the Fly. And by that I'm referring to her speaking is just on the fly like my dog crap KZbin channel you definitely shouldn't check out, all of the editing's could be completed by her taking the footage and then just putting in the click she needs, of which would come mostly from the show itself. She can easily do that by setting up a screen recorder to then record the show so that she can record the clips needed to insert into the video. If you use something like filmora wondershare for example, it's quite easy to do stuff like that. Always only you two gave me access to more editing then a video filter or music that applies to the entire thing as well as being able to cut all the way from the start to any given point and go cutting from the end of the video to the beginning of the video to any point as long as a certain amount of video is even in the clip.

Well, a show with fewer episodes is more likely to get more seasons. It has like eight seasons now, each with like 8 episodes, so if each season had say 24 episodes there would be about two and a half seasons by now.

Once TNR finishes, the HTTYD community should collab to completely rewrite the show. Rewriting characters and giving them actual development, creating actual conflicts, rewriting epsiodes, and even getting rid of some and replacing them with new ones. I'm sure there are already people doing that, but I think it'd be better if it was a collaborative effort from the entire community.

I want to point out a parallelism with Olivia’s situation and another mom from another series, Barbara (from Trollhunters) at some point Barbara finds out her kid (Jim) goes out at night to fight dangerous creatures and doesn’t hesitate to tell Jim’s Friends’ parents about it because she knows it’s dangerous (Btw, yeah, she’s also a cool mom) In Olivia’s situation we do see her care but she also hesitates about telling the other parents putting the kids in potential danger. I feel like these 2 characters are similar but we actually see Barbara’s concern and responsibility but we don’t see Olivia’s. In my opinion Barbara’s situation was handled better but can’t say much in comparison, I haven’t really seen the 9 realms. ( I highly recommend Trollhunters if someone hasn’t seen it) Edit: I just realized that @Raisorblade mentioned the exact same thing, The solution is THAT OBVIOUS

They could fix the school issue by making it an "online" school model. They still have to go in person to a location, maybe for socializing or team work or whatever. They could swipe in with a card for attendance, thus no parents/adults need to be involved. That could also fix the parents seemingly not giving a shit about their kids since they think theyre still going to school. Just have Alex make it so the attendance seems normal and they can all run off during the school day and it wont be weird that no one is concerned about them not showing up to class.

I think that the idea of Hiccup and his family visiting The Hidden World periodically doesn't cheapen the ending, but the extent that this show has shown this happening is really disappointing. I would expect it to happen rarely, and I don't think he would ever stay long enough to leave something like the book or a freaking mural of his family... but it has been shown to happen. like in the absolute last scene of the franchise.

It's baffling that the writers of THW thought he wouldn't visit Toothless for 10 years and then the dragon forgot about him. Hiccup is a good engineer but not as good to invent stainless steel and gears that won't clog from dirt etc. Heck, I bet his manual tail was checked every day before Hiccup went to bed.

I honestly find it more credible that Hiccup and his family go to the Hidden World from time to time than to believe that magically Toothless's prosthesis lasted decades without maintenance of any kind (which would basically be a death sentence once it stops working). I hate this show, but really the end of httyd 3 doesn't make much sense either.

@@atanor9787 Hiccup would be giving Toothless a death sentence if he didn't visit him regularly. If the fin failed in midair, the dragon would die. HTTYD 3 events don't make sense at all, they set the ending in stone and bent the characters, motivations, and premise just to land at that ending, no matter the cost. That's why I and you, and the others don't like it. On KZbin, there are cut fragments of that movie that made it even more obvious that the entire "Dragons must go" is forced as hell.

Wouldn’t it be cool if the different realms were a little more than different biomes and each had a unique magic? Like, what if the reason buzsaw’s fire breathing dragons didn’t escape because the ice realm neutralized fire breath? Wouldn’t that make traversing the realm be much more interesting? And here we can also specify a difference between fire and plasma, raising questions about the difference and what other differences there miht be? Are there situations where fire is better than plasma.

As funny as it is watching you lose your mind about the treatment of Hiccup's leg, I would just like to point out that Hiccup himself similarly attempted to destroy a priceless artifact when he threw the Dragon Eye into a volcano. Albeit Hiccup got more use out of said Dragon Eye and the moment was built up throughout the series, rather than being introduced and then disposed of within minutes of a single episode.

This show really is like finding a fanfic that's got an interesting premise and then reading only to find that it is not actually a narrative but a loose collections of scenes cobbled together purely so certain scenes can exist. Which, if that's all you want, is fine. But please don't put it in a public place. Also this is a massive franchise with massive franchise money and the show is behind a subscription. I don't know how you have the strength to keep doing this, but I fear and respect you for it. PS The sparkly freckles were an inspired touch. Genuinely more thought put into them than 90% of the episodes.

Another thing about Olivia being mad at Tom is that it makes no sense, considering in Season 2, Magma Breather, Olivia knew Tom had a secret yet told him that he could tell her when he wanted to. Yet for SOME dumb reason, in season 4, she pries into his pirvate life and gets 'suspicious', completely forgetting to respect his secret and finding it out her self, then had the AUDACITY to punish HIM for keeping a secret. SOMETHING SHE TOLD HIM HE WAS ALLOWED TO DO!!

In this scene the dragon chews with its mouth closed even though we've seen that it only has one row of teeth, meaning that it's just mashing those rocks against its gums with its upper teeth. The movements in general are all so stiff that I half expect the dragons to fall over like the cheap plastic toys they were clearly designed to sell.

That one guy changing races is crazy because a few years back, the studio I work at did a kid show where (annoyingly late in the season) the race of a character was changed. So we had to go back and change all instances of this character up to that point. And we are not Dreamworks. We don't got piles of money stuffing the walls, and yet, we were still able to do it. Maybe they missed it because the scene where he was white had a bunch of fire light and the color difference from that made their eyes skip over him?

I get that this video mainly looks over season 5, but hear me out. I have been a fan of the HTTYD franchise since the moment I watched the first movie, and I always rewatch it whenever I can. And, when I was looking back at the first movie, I noticed that the type of engineering and mechanical parts that Gobber used to make Hiccup's first prosthetic is almost identical to the one that the wanna-be dragon riders found in the cave. This means that not only did the kids find a perfectly intact prosthetic from over a millennium ago, but they also found and destroyed Hiccup's original version of his prosthetic. This is why I have yet to watch the new series and have stuck to Audrie and Race to the Edge. Dreamworks, stop it. Thank you for listening to my TedTalk

While it still equally makes no sense (to a mind numbing degreee) that they wouldn't have the supplies for a winter storm, according to the first episode it is implied that the Kullersen Fissure is actually in Canada. The implications are that (based off of real-life vikings exploring what they called Vinland) either Hiccup and his family traveled through the hidden world to North America for exploration purposes or New Berk was actually somewhere near the Canada coastline and that was the distance they traveled in movie 3? God only knows if that was ever the original intent during movie 3's production but we all know The Nine Realms loves to spit in the face of movie 3 in particular.
