Being able to fly for free is a huge perk of working for a passenger airline. We used to fly a lot more as a family. Planes are more full these days so the flights have to be really open otherwise we buy tickets. We do get a very good discount when we opt to buy as well.

When you said your child was on a bus the first thing that came to mind was that you were heading to a band competition! My son was in high school marching band for 5 years! He played the baritone. Some great memories were made helping out the band durning his time in band!

I 100 percent agree with you about minivans. On mine, the seats fold flat into the floor and the back can basically function as a pickup truck if need be. It can hold my 4 large dogs, haul groceries, plywood or carry 7 passengers. I always knocked them, until I got one to accommodate my dogs and now, I'm a big believer in their functionality.

I'm an AvGeek but I was first a band geek. Your band looks really clean. Congratulations to your daughter. For a first competition, they look very good.

YES! SUVs are quite impractical for their size... I am a big fan of MPVs and Minivans because they're so damn practical. And you can actually spot pedestrians unlike some high up SUV that in practice will never see a pinch of dirt

I love to ride the DFW Skylink around at least once if I have time between flights. Quite a nostalgia factor there.

I believe the plane on the return to Dallas was an American A319-115. A very unique aircraft. One of few a319’s fitted with both sharklets, and with passenger IFE systems. I believe it has the same interior as the A321-231 Transcontinental. The plane is often used for longer route length, low demand, seasonal routes. (Ps username for aspiring pilot of the Airbus NEO family, not yet)

Lost your car car? Hold my beer... I'm so dumb, I left from Heathrow and three weeks later returned into Gatwick. Took me around 3 hours to figure out why I couldn't find my flippin' car!!

There are some bad car rental agents. Aside from video taping the car in the rental parking lot, you should also take a picture or video underneath the car. I have heard two incidents from my close friends travelling in Europe that the car rental charged for damage under the bumper (assuming someone park too close to the sidewalk and scratched under the car). also, take a picture of the instrument dash with the engine running. some may charge you if there are mechanic issues, which is crazy because you have no control of an unreliable car.

Darren. Love the content and your up front style. I love flying but have had some concerns about taking flights when other options are available due to carbon emissions (I'm a hydrologist in Canada and see all sides of the issue every day). I now only fly for family reasons as actually you did in this video. Would love to here your opinions.

I'm no expert on carbon emissions. I have seen studies that a modern airliner such as the Airbus NEO will output fewer emissions than if passengers drive themselves the same distance 2-3 passengers per car.

When non-revving, can use known crew member security? Also hypothetically if you were non revving on a KIRKLAND 777, and you were legal to fly based on FAR’s and union contracts, but were scheduled as off, could you fly if perhaps the FB or F/O timed out? Count as overtime beyond the 76hr short call pay?
@geekontheflightdeck
@geekontheflightdeck 4 ай бұрын
KCM can be used for Nonrev as long as no legs are international. It’s possible and in the contract to allow me to fly in a scenario like that

I like the fact that Mr Byrd is generous with his data, expertise, and experience. I have met a lot of people in his position who are not people centric at all and do these channels not to share and spread their passion for aviation but for personal purposes.

It was okay. Helped free up space. I think the Pacifica plug in is a fabulous vehicle. Most daily driving can be electric only.
