Why El Paso, Texas

As a real estate agent, I often hear the question, why El Paso Texas. At first glance on the map, there isn't much to look at but you haven't even scratched the surface. For starters, the geography has us sitting the farthest West Texas town (and the only county of Texas in the Mountain Time Zone) sharing borders with New Mexico and Juarez Mexico. El Paso has a wonderful blend of culture and the people are amazing. El Paso is one of the safest cities in the United States. El Paso has a rich history and provides for some neat city tours. El Paso has a cool blend of big city meets small town vibe. Did you know that El Paso has the 22nd largest population in the United States? Our sister city, Juarez Mexico, has a population over 1.5 million which contributes to the economic stability of El Paso. This city also has a cool California influence as businesses and people have migrated to take advantage of what is proven to be a developing and flourishing community with the capacity to welcome the influx.

Well, we have 50% of your ask. I wish El Paso had the ability to attract HEB to come here but I hear it is an issue of supply chain management. Apparently, their suppliers do not come this far West. We do have several other markets that do a good job and there is a variety of food available, but nothing that compares to the gloriousness of an HEB haha.

Idk, that might be a deal breaker.😅😅😢😢 Please, I’m not trying to be obtuse, but I looked online and I could have sworn I saw some locations in the El Paso metro. Las Cruces maybe? Maybe they have one in Juaréz. I’d have to don a bulletproof vest to shop there. Lol

Virginia Beach to Elpaso was there last year it’s a beautiful city I would definitely live there. I think the only thing that is missing is an amusement park.

I don't even recognize most of El Paso anymore! It has grown a whole lot since I moved away. Back in 1988 El Paso was not as big as it is now! Tons of new people everywhere and from all over the world. It's like I never left San Francisco California with all the traffic, long lines for everything. Where did all these new newcomers come from?

I hear ya. Well, I'm one of those transplants as well. I actually look at it a bit differently though. I consider myself an immigrant to El Paso via Michigan. I retired from the Army and chose El Paso as my home. This is a different mentality than just being born in a place. I love the people and culture here and all the opportunities for my children. That being said, I have personally seen a large migration from California and Colorado.

@@royaltrealty AWESOME! You made a wise choice Mr. Realtor! All Michiganders Are most welcome to El Paso! Army retirees is a welcome plus! I also took note on the many state migration coming from California and Colorado! Texas and California has the most population exchange between the two! El Paso is a good place to raise children considering that it's a safe city? BTW! I like your video, you did it just right.

I will be closing on a home in Horizon City next month. It was built in 2017 by Desert View Homes. Is that a good builder?

Hey there, congrats on buying your home. I do like the Desert View Homes. Builders sometimes focus on all the high end fancy things and sometimes you see a large focus on economy of scale - more square footage vs fancy furnishings. Desert View Homes has a good blend of both. I'm sure you will enjoy it. I have a similar type builder for my home - Tropicana, built in 2011. No structural issues to date.

@@royaltrealty Thanks for replying Tom. I was just concerned about some negative reviews I saw on Google. I know all companies inevitably have disgruntled clients. I was also a little apprehensive with regard to any maintenance issues I might have with stucco. I have always owned a brick home-the home I am selling in Dallas. I have never had to maintain the brick exterior. Of course I did the inspection with Integrity inspections. There was no major issues found. Does stucco provide as good insulation and soundproofing as brick exteriors? It's probably not good for me to have cold feet at this late stage of the game.

@@tritosac Totally understand. First, I will say that you chose a great inspection company with Integrity. I really like them and promote them (and a couple others) to my clients. I believe that all the builders received negative reviews during the height of Covid when it became a sellers market. The fact was that there were so many buyers that builders were able to be very selective. This caused issues when a buyer had issues with closing, the builder just moved on to the next buyer. That's what started it. As long as you follow your plan, conduct your 30 day review and utilize them for any warranty item, you should be good. Stucco does have its own maintenance requirements, but you should be ok. I have had to repaint my exterior but it was more of a result of hail damage. I think your cold feet is expected since you are so close to writing the checks haha. YOU will be just fine!

I love El Paso! I lived there twice when I was a child because my dad was stationed at Fort Bliss . Beautiful city and the people are super nice but,when I visited in January I felt the cops dont like outsiders. We were there 20 min and got pulled over. He claimed he saw my husband using his phone while driving. I watch people on youtube all the time record themselves while driving through El Paso streets . We told him it was my birthday, I was born there and haven't been there in 40 + years and had to use the GPS because we didnt know our way around the city. He wished me a happy birthday and and gave my husband a 135.00 ticket. Then,the next day, we were eating at Craves. And got a parking ticket. Are you kidding me? We were afraid to go anywhere else in the city that we might get another ticket.It really put a bad taste in my mouth and broke my heart to get this kind of treatment. I'd love to come back but dont want the hassles.😒

The cops in EP are little overzealous. Property taxes are over the top and it’s not a very walkable or bike friendly city. Deal breaker for sure.
