Why Electric Vehicles Are NOT The Answer (EV's)
EV's are being pushed as the solution to pollution, but they may be a larger contributor to climate change and environmental damage than we think.

This is another excellent example why electric cars are not the future. Carbon Neutral fuels is probably where it needs to go. P1fuels is trying to provide this. Other bigger companies need to get involved to help this become a reality. These manufacturers and government officials trying to push electric is lazy and dumb. Toyota not being on the train for full electric just shows they have looked into this and are trying to find a better alternative, which makes sense. Great video. Keep up the good work.

EXCELLENT VIDEO! More people need to understand the facts. Personally, I think manufacturers should be researching hydrogen fuel more than EVs.

I thought the same thing on not going straight to the EV and focus more on hybrids! Great video!

Great video, Besim. I've had the opportunity to drive a 2018 Leaf at my old dealership job and I had a good time with it. I see the appeal of EV's but given the actual context behind lithium mining, how electricity is generated (especially here in Utah) and the dangers of the batteries I wanna push it off as long as possible. Some people eased my fears that we will likely be all EV in years, saying it might not happen in our lifetime. Regardless of that, my next car purchase is a fun hot hatch. To outrun my quarter life crisis

I would like if they focus on making non sport cars and utility vehicles EV and try to keep sports cars to their roots, if that was possible

I didn't understand when you said energy cannot be created isn't a generator creating energy?
@BESIMXCARS

It is not creating energy actually, just converting it. So for example, there are a few different types of generators so lets use a gas powered generator. That gasoline is a stored energy in the form of a liquid, and is used to run an engine. The motion from that engine can then turn the generator which will create electrical energy that can either power electronic devices or charge a battery. Essentially we are converting a mechanical energy into an electrical energy. Hope I explained this example well :)

I have been thinking this for quite some time. As you mentioned. there are many downsides to EVs. EV range is dramatically cut in hot and cold weather due to battery environmental temperature control and heating or air conditioning usage. If you put a trailer on and electric pickup truck, your range is reduced to just over 100 miles. The mining of lithium is horrible as you stated. The car battery packs have a finite life and cost around 20K to replace. The government should encourage new technology but the government is not qualified to dictate what the technological solution should be. I am going to pass on EVs for now. I have a Lexus RX Hybrid and one other conventionally powered vehicle. All get over 20MPH. The Hybrid shuts the engine down constantly and the other car has start/stop technology. Toyota is experimenting with hydrogen engines, including fuel cells and also an ammonia engine. Lets help fund these technologies.

EV's are inevitable, and will play an important part in our future energy infrastructure. It is still early days, but things like thermal runaway are getting less and likely, as new battery tech enters the market. Solid state tech will virtually eliminate any fire risk. Put it this way. Once ICE is gone, nobody will be calling for it's return.

I am very curious to see how SS batteries do. I believe Toyota is shooting to use them in a hybrid as close as 2025. It still might leave on the table the raw material mining and processing to be problematic though, that I would need to do more reading on. I would also be curious to see what SS battery's SOC curve looks like when discharging. Li-Ion definitely has a pretty impressive SOC curve in terms of performance.

the main solution is to end private car ownership. get rid of suburbs and vastly improve public transport aswell as cycling infrastructure. after that get rid of any engine with more than 4 cylinders. with modern engines there is no reasonable argument for giant engines with huge displacement. the main solution is mainly just competent social engineering and getting rid of infrastructure specifically designed to put minorities at a disadvantage. cars have to become a luxury and not a necessity.

Argument: 4 cylinders and small displacement engines cant haul heavy equipment, food, or other resources across the country. (Not semis, hot shots or even farmers moving equipment)

@@whitecollarbluestripe5540 i was talking about cars. it's obvious that tractors and other heavy machinery cant be replaced that easily. plus theyre way less in number compared to cars. however its undeniable that a decent railroad network is way more efficient for moving cargo across the country compared to trucks.
