The main reason why is Memphis has some of the best water in the country especially being in the south. Now I know some people in Detroit Michigan will say otherwise but you guys have the Great Lakes so you better have some great water. In Memphis we have the Mississippi River and it’s not the clean water at all compared to the Great Lakes. Anyways Memphis water you can literally drink from the tap in your faucet that’s how good that water is. A lot of people are worried about the water being contaminated but we have a lot of companies here that use the water for similar things here in the city from past. We never had problems before and honestly I don’t see problems now with Elon bring his business in.

1.3 million gal / day is not very much when you have a big river . it's 2 olympic swimming pools . plus they evaporate the water which comes back down as rain. they don't pollute the water. it's for cooling towers.
@thomasdriskill5254
@thomasdriskill5254 4 ай бұрын
if your building a Data center you need cheap electricity or even enough electricity and TN has cheapest hydro electricity thats why he choose TN for many computers to run 24/7 365 days a year costing electricity every second of the way 🎉❤
@ron.v
@ron.v 3 ай бұрын
Why so much water? It's for cooling. Computers generate heat. They must be cooled for proper operation. Super computers must be cooled more. Large computer centers need a lot of water in cooling towers for traditional cooling. As it evaporates, it removes heat. If there's enough water to "waste" for cooling purposes, that attracts computer businesses. Water issues are areas prone to drought. The mid-south doesn't have as much of a problem with this. Thanks also for mentioning traffic. I drove to Memphis for years. After driving around Atlanta, up the coast through N.C. & VA to the D.C. area, south through Miami, through Nashville, and some larger cities in Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas, I completely agree with you about Memphis traffic. I'm not interested in moving to Memphis but I appreciate the video on the tech industry. A friend of mine retired from his job as a network manager at a major Memphis hospital. i retired as a systems specialist from an AT&T computer center in B'ham. Most major southern cities like Birmingham and Memphis have been slow to get on the tech band wagon. It's good to see this kind of progress. Thanks.

You mentioned 2 interstates but you forgot about Interstate 22
@swinde
@swinde 5 ай бұрын
I-22 actually starts in North Mississippi and it will be difficult to convert the right of way to interstate standards due to the huge industrial usage north of Shelby drive which is only about two miles into Shelby county. Perhaps they could route it up from Olive Branch to connect to Route 385 that connects to I-240 on the southeast side of Memphis.
@MovingToMemphis
@MovingToMemphis 5 ай бұрын
True, but I don’t know if you’d consider that a major interstate. I think it only runs from here over to Birmingham. But technically you also have the I69 corridor if that project ever Actually gets done.

@MovingToMemphis

My understanding is that the vehicles coming out of blue oval will be essentially a second generation of ford ev’s including entirely new models, not just electric versions of existing models like most of their current offerings. So I think there will be more demand for what is coming.

Will they have AI crime prevention? How can we make the citizens feel safer?
@MemphisCorollaS
@MemphisCorollaS 4 ай бұрын
MPD did invest a lot of time, effort, and money into using technology to map crime by location and time throughout the day a couple decades ago. They won awards for it I believe, since it allowed the city to reduce the violent crime substantially after the national murder rate peak of the 80’s and 90’s (my childhood years in Memphis). While our crime per capita has always been nationally high due to petty crime, our violent crime rate and murder rates had been much lower than people thought for a long time. Sadly those have increased in the last 5 years with some really horrible incidents. If the MPD and Shelby county Sherrif department can augment their crime tracking and predictive systems with Elon Musk’s supercomputer or U of Memphis’ AI education research can get the processing power boost needed, the we could see some impressive strides to increase the education level and reduce the crime rate. Maybe I’m still an optimistic dreamer from seeing the city improve so much from my childhood to my young adulthood, but here’s hoping 🤞

@MemphisCorollaS

@@krillin876 it is a hard and wild place to live at time. I’ve lived here, in rural Arkansas, in rural Mississippi, and in some rougher parts of Jacksonville, FL. Everywhere may have its issues, but Memphis does seem different. I’ve known more than my fair share of people killed or traumatized by violence in the worst and best times of Memphis since the 80’s. I won’t downplay the negatives, but I do hope for better. Any tool that can help with that is worth considering. If us putting lots of gray water we already have into a supercomputer might help, then I’m game. It wouldn’t be as bad as some of the other industrial experiments that big corporations have done near the river that have poisoned people and wildlife.
